  1. Not at 4:30AM, but yes. One of the occasions was on our first Sea Day and I happen to be in the cabin. You could see them airlift two people by looking out my window!
  2. For me, it's not so much as "it's offensive" as much as it is context. I'm Dyslexic so I rely on context to understand what the topic is. Ships have always been larger vessels used to travel and transport goods on water, whereas boats are the smaller version. I understand both can be used interchangeably, but there's a huge difference as to what each has to offer so in order for me to keep up with the conversation, I have to know which one you're talking about.
  3. I'm not condoning the behavior but comparing the buffet to "American Gladiators" made me laugh a little too hard;
  4. I've done both. The Statue Of Liberty was taken from the NJ side when I was on Celebrity Summit with my Samsung camera that has a 36x zoom. I was standing at the top of the ship. The Empire State Building is also there. Been on Anthem twice and passed the Teardrop Memorial both times. Both, as you can see, are sights to see, but are entirely dependent on weather and traffic. Without permission from officials to pass, not everyone can take those routes
  5. Mine is canvas so I can use the expandable pockets.
  6. If you like Celebrity, consider Royal Caribbean. They're sister cruise lines, so if you like one, you'll most likely like the other. There's plenty to choose from for bars: Vintages, Schooner, Rising Tide (Oasis class ships only), Trellis, Playmakers, Lime And Coconut, Boleros, and Bionic Bar just to name a few. Dining includes Jamie's Italian Grille (by Jamie Oliver), Wonderland, Johnny Rockets, IZUMI, Giovanni's Italian Kitchen, Chops Grille, Sorrento's, and Cafe Promenade, are just a few of the restaurants you'll find. Oasis class ships also have Central Park which features live music every night. There's a lot of balcony cabins, particularly on the Oasis class ships. Some of the balconies are actually considered inside cabins because they overlook open air decks.
  7. I know that this sounds weird coming from someone my age (35), but I grew up on Jimmy Buffett. My entire family were HUGE Parrot heads. He was a huge influence on my musical taste and even in the activities I do with my seniors (Activity Director here). When I started to play Ukulele, one of the first books I got was dedicated to Jimmy Buffett songs. He will be missed in this house!
  8. Not sure about YouTube but I think Freevee has it.
  9. My residents and I love Jimmy Buffett so we sang some favorite songs of his and raised a few Strawberry Daiquiris in his honor.
  10. Hello all, In case anyone is interested, The Smithsonian Channel has a series called "Mighty Cruise Ships" and they're currently airing an episode on Celebrity Solstice!
  11. They'll do a level match, BUT you'll only earn points for the line you cruise with. For example, I have a cruise on Celebrity coming up in October. It's worth 30 points. While my status will be reflected when I cruise Royal again next year, those points I earn in October will only count towards moving up in Captain's Club, not Crown And Anchor. Conversely, my cruise after that is in June on Royal. That cruise is worth 15 points, which will count only towards my Crown And Anchor points, not my Celebrity points. That said my status will still be reflected in Captain's Club.
  12. Have you considered Royal Caribbean or Celebrity? They're owned by the same company as Azamara. Celebrity is more subdued, while Royal appeals to a more adventurous crowd. Also Princess might be another option for a high-end cruise (by high-end, I mean more subdued)
  13. I've actually stayed on Deck 12 twice and never had any noise issues.
  14. If sound isn't an issue for you, I'd say go for the Ocean View rooms off the Promenade. Be warned though: the Promenade is where they host the "70's Disco Party" which will be LOUD.
  15. Not defending Celebrity but I do volunteer for 2 huge tech companies. Stuff happens all the time and most people don't even see what goes on behind the scenes like I do. I guarantee you Celebrity is aware of the issues they have and is probably working on it. It will not happen overnight. Most likely what happened is there was some sort of glitch. What may seem like a simple solution (such as a glitch in the system) can take WEEKS to solve, depending on what the situation is. Clearly Celebrity has your question on record, otherwise you wouldn't have gotten the email. That said, I've had my fair share of issues with their site recently, and they could be more open with the issues simply by sending out an email saying something like "Celebritycruises.com is currently down for maintenance, please try again later."
  16. Exactly, which is why I asked. If there's no chance of moving the plans, I wouldn't even book the cruise. If there is, I would see if we could move those plans. Obviously if someone is in the hospital, that's different, but even so, I would purchase travel insurance in the event we did have to cancel.
  17. This is why we purchase Travel Insurance! Also, is there any chance you can move the other plans to the day before or possibly even until after the cruise? In my experience, unless the flights were booked through Celebrity, they likely won't hold the ship for you. That's because they have to pay port fees and if they stay longer than scheduled, it actually costs them more to hold the ship, plus they would now be delayed getting to the next port, which would cost them extra in port fees as well.
  18. I didn't get my email yet. Can someone who has tell me if they announced a date for the webinar?
  19. It depends. I've cruised 3 times on two ships out of the same port since the restart. Both ships were out of Bayonne. Anthem 2022: Yes they were strict. There were staffing issues causing even those of us who arrived on time to wait OUTSIDE for an hour and a half IN THE FREEZING COLD w/o jackets (they were in our checked luggage). Any latecomers were sent to the end of the line while early arrivals were sent to a waiting area to be called. Oasis 2022: Staffed properly, was able to waltz right onto the ship. Anthem 2023: Minor staffing issues caused slight delays but they weren't as strict as last year
