I have never experienced "sales" talk by the Captain, but I haven't cruised since 2019. In my view, he is in charge of the ship itself, the navigation and getting safely into a port. thinking back to my flying days, our Captains would never have said anything about what we sold on board or anything like that. I feel it's very naff.
This is from a friend on an Arcadia World Cruise. I don't think she is impressed!
"First announcement by the new Capt, and I had a vision of a short rotund chap with grey hair.Spot on! I have renamed him The Butlins redcoat. His morning announcements are more to do with daily activities and special offers...20% off handbags etc, than our position on the ocean. No mention of handwashing, sunscreen or sneezing"
our very first cruise was on Oceanic Odyssey out of Harwich. Then Athena out of Falmouth. Can't remember the name of the company. I just love the small ships, but sadly there aren't many left. Looking forward to trying Bolette.
I have a cruise in mind for 2024, but not at the prices being offered at the moment. Will wait until a couple of months before and see if they come down. The ship sounds great though.
I was Caribbean for the 2 years prior to Covid and never got a 12 noon checkin. Always about 1330 or later. Will be interesting to see what we get in October.
Agree, still a shame though. I'm not keen on any of the offerings in the paid for ones. Certainly not the Beach Hut. Wish they would do an Italian one perhaps.
Just been reading elsewhere that there are no themed buffets any more on Aurora? Used to love Indian night and also Italian. Anyone confirm. Sad if it's true.
Yes that's mainly what we are going to do. We are giving Athens a miss, been there loads of times. Will find something in Piraeus. Also going to Malaga and Palermo.
