  1. no I do not think so and I agree with the advice.
  2. I hope you have in your bucket list the Skagway train in Alaska. It is great and do it in May or June with some snow still on the mountains
  3. I have wandered over to Princess and NCL for a few of my European cruises next year as they have better itineraries and prices. But I would not ditch RCI for good as they like any cruise line are trying to make up for Pandemic. I do feel ICON and STAR are way over the top with pricing though and glad I got my good price way back in Nov 2022 when pricing for ICON opened up.
  4. I will reply before this thread is closed. On any given week each ship might have issues but I feel the overall do the best they can. Specialty restaurants is a way to get more variety. Overall, there is not a 4- or 5-star restaurant IMHO on any ship. Most food is pretty good. Stick to veggies and salads and the wonderful bread is what I do a lot as I am on the ship to see things and enjoy entertainment. Back on land I can cook for myself very nicely. Cruising is not about cuisine like it used to be.
  5. welcome I like quite a few things better on the Horizon than Celebration.
  6. one way to solve this problem would be to only let 1000 folks off who booked shore excursions prior to the day either on line or on the ship. At least some folks could get to go ashore. I mean the ship I was on last year already parked around the bend behind some rock island. this way money would still flow into the town, but not the quantity of people. just my solution not looking to argue.
  7. served in buffet and was better than what they had on newest ship
  8. I suppose even she is allowed to only say so much. I bet she has asked her husband who is an engineer. perhaps the problem is the way the room units were built before assembly. I will be on Beyond in Nov up front forward facing
  9. Oh yes I have and I was joking you know
  10. Thanks for advice and I will consider it since the chances of C Terre becoming available is most likely slim
  11. VERY GOOD AND TASTY. I had one almost every day and like the fixings bar. As a side note: on the Horizon, they use the grill from Guys to make the french toast. they do not do this on Celebration as Guys is up and further away from buffet. Therefore, the french toast is better on the Horizon.
  12. well I have an ocean view planned for this fall and I am near the bridge. I hear a lot of creaking, I will go down to guest services and ask if I can speak to someone from the bridge and then question them if they hear the noise. My luck it would be Capt Kate who would tell me no all she hears is her cat meowing. ha ha.
  13. I continue to find HAL hard to understand. I do not like their refund/changes policy and I do not like the various promos that if not careful, might not be so good down the line. HAL runs their pricings and polices different than Princess or Carnival even though part of the same corp. But I would never buy standby on any cruise line as those folks would be the first to get bumped if oversold (which is another story as well)
  14. wow they all look interesting but I can't be gone for more than 17 days so I will have to pass but thanks for the list of opportunities I will have to so hard no too.
  15. excellent so I can't wait to get on the ship. Sun will be my 2nd new ship as I am doing ICON of the seas in May. Funny each ship has a dome in the front of their ship but for different purposes.
  16. so please tell me why you like Lucca as I would be interested and perhaps others.
  17. thanks to all that have replied. I have two days in Livorno so I did book Florence/Pisa for day 2 and will decide eventually what to do with day 1. I do know the Cinque Terre is further away than if the ship was docked in La Spezia and more travel time too. I also know that the villages are a bit hilly and uneven so perhaps it might be for the best. I will take a cruise down Almalfi coast and pretend it is Cinque Terre. But I have heard Lucca was nice too.
  18. thanks for posting I assume the plae is free since I do not see prices. I will be on the Sun in early November
  19. And do not forget the buffet is also good. you can see the food and take the quantities you want. Harmony is big ship with lots to do and sometimes a quick dinner in Windjammer is good to consider.
  20. yes Sat Nite live was good and get there EARLY for seats
  21. Boy and darn it, I waited about 3 weeks too long and now for my NCL Escape this year on June 6 and 7th BOTH excursions to Cinque Terre are no longer listed. All 4 opportunities gone. wow I did not see that coming since a lot of ports still have many things listed. also once on board, have they tried to add more folks for a tour. thanks in advance for any replies. So mad at myself but at least I grabbed what I wanted for Rome and Monaco.
  22. thanks for sharing some of J's photos. I bet your cute doggie is happy to have you home for a while
  23. I agree with you it is about itinerary. That is why next year I have booked 2 Princess and 2 NCL in Europe. Three go out of Southampton and one goes out of Athens (NCL VIVA). I am doing more UK, Norway, Iceland with stops to see Paris and Brussels. The Viva has best itinerary for Greece and with those solo rooms and studio lounge too. The Emerald Princess ship is doing just European Capitols and the NCL Prima goes from UK to Iceland 1 way. And both Princess and NCL only ask for deposits of $100 or $125 and the are REFUNDABLE as well. So the grass is greener elsewhere. But as a solo I am doing the ICON in 8 weeks or so just to see the ship and the design. I too am a homebody in this crazy world and enjoy looking a my years of past vacations.
