  1. I was late once and someone took all my underwear! I was NOT late another time and someone took my very damp clothes out of the drier because HER wash cycle WAS finished. Another time someone shrieked at me because I was putting a second load into the machine after I took out the first. I just have bad luck....We once had the room across from the laundry and I was very nervous about the noise....GREAT room...no noise and quick access to laundry ( I even went in my robe once)! BUT once I had a cameo spot in "Cruising with Jane McDonald" ( British TV) on the SKY when she was doing a review!
  2. We saw an amazing horse show in Lima and had a wonderful experience at an estancia outside Buenos Aires. But back to the Danube any other suggestions? We will have a day in Bucharest between the Pre- Extension in Transylvania and the beginning of the cruise which will have a lengthy included tour. Should we plan an excursion through Viking or on our own OR just wander a bit? Sharkset was 2 optional tours did you take that you enjoyed?

AGAIN wish gratuities were part of the mandatory fare....I wonder what percentage of folks opt out.
  4. Has anyone heard rumors about a more robust Explore Society program?
  5. Yes it does...and the zodiac accident indirectly led to death of the passenger when the Rogue wave hit the Polaris and blew out windows when they were heading back to Ushuaia EARLY to get medical care for the women with the broken leg. It was certainly a tragedy for all aboard.
  6. YES!! Lots of repeats ( welcome, farewell, Viking Explorer's Society...BUT the lectures are different because the itinerary is different and sometimes there is a craft person for a segment. We changed CDs a couple of times so the entertainment varied a bit. Chef's table menus changed as did Manfredi's. We did a 4 segment last March/April and thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not change cabins. Second Best Spring ever...Best was on a World Cruise!
  7. MikieF please let us know how the trip is once you are onboard...
  8. We did a garden tour when we stopped last year with a revised itinerary from Buenos Aires to Barcelona. It was gorgeous in the Spring sunshine. We thought it would be a great spot to just BE for a number of days. We did not do the ride down the hill...maybe next time!
  9. nope...and I have husband who LOVeS ball caps but he knows where to wear them! Even our very relaxed sailing club does NOT allow them in the dining room! Clean tshirts and flip flops are ok ...take off your cap and silence the phone!
  10. one's head will not get cold in a restaurant on the ship ...I am betting an upscale restaurant will not allow caps. Medical reason ok ...not many of those on a cruise ship!
  11. I have never seen someone without clothes in the sauna or cold pool in the women's locker room and we use the Spa frequently. I have seen it VERY crowded it must depend on the cruise ...and how many sea days! I never tip the bucket on my head. Make sure to wear shoes into the snow room it can be VERY icy and take in a towel to sit on.
  12. Basic manners hats are NOT appropriate at the table! My 13 year old grandson knows this!!!
  13. We had wonderful "art" class last year. Also great time to do laundry and plan your next cruise with the consultant. I do not remember YOGA or stretching classes except on our WC. We love SEA days especially when they are sporadic during a port intensive cruise rather than multiples days in a row!
  14. Did the furniture get replaced? I too would have been disappointed in non Freya products! Why do people need a cap inside?
  15. It was a Viking excursion. I will look and see if I can find the name of it. We were on cruise from Bergen to Amsterdam " Viking Shores and Fjords . Meals on excursions are usually a waste of time IMO BUT this was a fantastic meal... great fish in a lovely hotel venue on the water! Full-Day Railway Journey to Voss Duration: 7 hours The Quintessential Norway Experience Marvel at Norway’s stunning beauty during a breathtaking full-day “Norway in a Nutshell” experience. You will board the world-famous Flåm Railway at the cruise pier and climb nearly 3,000 feet through 20 tunnels and over numerous bridges. Stop at Kjosfossen waterfall for photos of this pristine natural wonder. You will change trains and continue to Voss, where a motor coach takes you to the Molstertunet open air museum. Here, you will gain rich insight into 18th-century life in these high mountain valleys. Continue to Tvinde waterfall for a photo stop. Enjoy lunch at the famous Stalheim Hotel, with magnificent views of the Naerøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, from the veranda. Return to your ship via the mountain descent known as the Stalheimskleiva. With its steep grade and 13 hairpin turns, this is not a trip for those who fear heights.
  16. thinking about Slovenia-Croatia cruise...what cruise line did you use?
  17. on the excursion we took the train one way and bus the other and had a great lunch!!! The train was late getting back ( another train on the track had a problem). The ship waited for us...if you were on another train and independent the ship would not wait. Chances are you will get on the excursion sometimes if there is a lengthy wait list Viking will add another bus or train car.
  18. We really enjoyed this cruise..if you can combine it with the TA even better... we did 4 cruises in a row and had splendid time...it will be even better without ALL the hassle of COVID!!!
  19. I was suggesting that if Mcobean were going BACK to Viet Nam they should considera RIVER Cruise. The Mekong River Cruise was outstanding a separate cruise. sorry for the confusion
  20. You should definitely do the Mekong River cruise!
  21. this is great information we are going in September greysandy with whom is your Cologne - Brauhaus tour (Kolsh beer) with small company? My husband would enjoy this! Please post after your cruise with any great information/suggestions from your June trip.
  22. In Michigan I pay $50/month one line!
  23. spoke with Viking...these are the included cruises that will include SSP Thank you for being loyal members of our Viking Explorer Society.
