  1. Hi Andy do you know the reasoning why we can’t go inside the terminal, we were on Arcadia in June and will be on Aurora next week
  2. Especially when you’ve just driven six and half hours through traffic jams and bad weather it can be really difficult to get the timing just right why can’t people be more understanding of this, and to find the terminal empty after being made to queue outside for an hour and half was unbelievable
  3. I’m not wanting to jump the queue and more than happy to wait until my boarding time but honestly would really like to wait inside the terminal have a seat and a cup of tea use the facilities surely that’s not a lot to ask.

My arrival time is 3.15 next week, last boarding time 3.30 I really hope we won’t be stuck in a gridlocked queue for the docks as we have been previously when one ship had a delayed arrival,and the disembarking traffic coincided with the embarking traffic, passengers were getting out of taxis with luggage and attempting to walk from the train station to the docks, wonder if the ship will wait ? Or do I turn up an hour early and just wait in the naughty queue. Hope it won’t be raining 😨
  5. That’s exactly the same as we were offered online, but very different story when we phoned to book.
  6. Just had the same issue wanted to book Iona 27 Jan 24 offered online £600 obc increase to £720 or car parking, when we enquired it’s £320 obc unbelievable how they can advertise this it’s so wrong.
  7. Please keep posting your food photos Graham, we don’t live far from Lumley castle and have never tried eating there but after your comments we definitely will be booking fish and chips is OH favorite meal out.

Good idea to be prepared, we will be next time we are on Aurora in August We were not expecting to board early in June on Arcadia but very naively thought we would be able to access the terminal to have a coffee and use toilets while waiting for our boarding time and Arcadia is not a mega ship so it’s never been a problem before.
  9. After seeing the weather forecast for tomorrow in Southampton I really do hope they don’t make any passengers queue outside.
  10. It makes for one of the easiest boardings we’ve ever had,totally stress free😁

We have cruised with MSC about half a dozen times and when we’ve arrived a little early or late or on time we have just entered the terminal and been waved up to check in decks then through security to board the ship never had the horrendous experience we had in June on Arcadia, we have also cruised many times with Cunard and have not had any problems if arrived a little early or late due to traffic issues.

In all our 30 plus cruises we’ve never had any issues with embarkation and if we’re early have been allowed inside to sit down and wait and use the facilities, we were very lucky with the weather and had it been cold and raining I dread to think what the experience would be like, we are back on the Aurora in August and not remotely looking forward to it and are now in the process of cancelling our Caribbean Aurora cruise in October the whole embarkation process was a farce and seeing all the empty seating areas in the check in area only rubbed salt in.
  14. Hi Graham we had the same on MSC Virtuosa in March the embarkation process was excellent as was the parking at AB parking. Why P &O can’t do the same is beyond me.
  15. CPS not the cheapest but we’ve never had any issues with them.
  16. Absolutely agree, we also cruised on Queen Victoria in April from Southampton, and the embarkation and disembarkation process was very easy in fact a pleasure an excellent start to our holiday.

Lots were buying tea and coffee when they got to the check in area and carried it through to the departures even through security, some of the staff were clearly embarrassed having to carry chairs outside, when obviously the more elderly passengers should have been allowed seating inside, Appalling treatment from P &O

We also disembarked yesterday from Arcadia and had a really awful embarkation experience so much so it’s deterring us from booking again with P&O we travelled six and half hours down from the Northeast traffic was very busy at times and quite harrowing it’s very difficult to get the timings right and you can never judge what the traffic will be like,but nevertheless we did arrive two hours early and were told to wait outside, or we could take a taxi and were directed to the taxi rank to take us elsewhere, as we had left our car with CPS we were not allowed into the terminal at all,we did ask if we could just sit and wait inside have a cup of tea and use the toilets but we were again directed elsewhere they we’re bringing chairs out for more elderly passengers who couldn’t stand for long periods of time, I wasn’t expecting to board early but did expect to be able to sit inside when we did enter the check in area we found the whole area to be deserted and no passengers were sitting waiting, we were told they wanted the boarding experience to return to pre covid times absolute nonsense all of the cruises we took during covid times we were allowed inside the terminal mask wearing of course what a really horrible disappointing start to our holiday and has left quite a bitter taste if this is how P &O think that’s acceptable treatment of their loyal passengers. I do understand that the procedure is difficult when there are are large numbers of passengers but surely they can cope better than that with the smaller ships numbers

  21. Hi do Mediterranean tier passengers qualify for priority boarding and or welcome onboard lunch-and if so what would the time be ?
  22. Thanks for the good advice will definitely email so fingers crossed, would really like a photo to celebrate our 50th anniversary, our original wedding photographs were mislaid during one of our numerous house moves.I think photos are just wonderful memories.
