  1. Ok, but that was a $100.00 penalty not the full amount as it is now. We switch between Celebrity and Royal, Celebrity offers refundable for all categories and still has just the $100pp penalty when you choose nonrefundable.
  2. Yes, this is what I found on the website yesterday. Too bad, we didn't book anything at all. I'm willing to lose $100 but sure as heck not willing to lose $900, which was the deposit we needed to pay. When a cruise is nearly 2 years out there's just no way of telling if plans may change. So we'll be looking elsewhere than Royal for everything except last minute sailings.
  3. Have been looking at the website and I can't figure out how to book a refundable deposit cruise. Is it possible to do that or do you have to call?
  4. We have $1100 OBC for an Apex TA in April and have booked a couple of smaller group tours with Celebrity. We were on the Apex TA that just ended and had $600 OBC and found ourselves on the last night with half of it still left. We did try to get into the steak house to use up some of it but they were full. So we played some slots, something we never do and still left some on board. Don't want to do that again. There is always the spa but the thought of blowing $200 or so on a mediocre 50 minute massage seemed even worse than playing the slots. So we're trying the smaller group tours and we'll see how it goes.
  5. Definitely hire a private car to insure you get there early enough. Heathrow is a nightmare, at least it was last May. It took us over 3 hours to go from walking in the terminal and getting to the gate. Have you looked at flights from Gatwick? That's what we plan to do the next time we have to fly out of England.
  6. Well....would love to but when I sign into our account on the Celebrity website there is no way to access Shore Excursions. Anyone else have this issue? Can't even confirm the two I already have booked are still there......
  7. Yes, it's definitely worth going once. We thought it was fun!!
  8. I can certainly understand you wanting to see these areas, especially San Gimignano, but as others have said you will be riding for at LEAST 6-8 hours that day, 3-4 each way. So how much time will you have at the sites you want to visit? Will an hour or two be enough for you? We recently took a transport from Rome to Pisa area which took every bit of 4 hours. If we had it to do over we would look much more seriously at the high speed train.
  9. Yes....mostly. There is an area right behind the host/hostess station where this is not so much the case, at least not as much as the rest of the room which is very close together. We were lucky we were seated in that front area every night.
  10. Pretty sure you are talking about Wida, not Wilda in Luminae, she was wonderful on the TA a few weeks ago, along with Marcus from Brazil. We were lucky to be seated in their section for every meal except one breakfast.
  11. We were just in a CS on the Apex a few weeks ago. We love the CS on "S" class ships, especially that big balcony in the ones on the hump. The CS on Apex was very nice, the balcony was fine, but much smaller and no lounge on it, just chairs and 2 tables. I missed the lounge. There is more than enough storage in the Apex CS but missed the walk in closet that the "S" class has. The bed is larger in the Apex CS and more comfortable than the "S" class. Bathroom is very nice on both, though they older we get the more getting into that bathtub/shower becomes an issue. The Retreat areas are very nice on both, though we like the Retreat(Michael's)lounge on the "S" class more. I'm sure you will enjoy your cruise, but the Edge is a completely different Celebrity experience.
  12. That's good news. Perhaps it was because our sailing was a TA, I don't know but nice to hear it doesn't happen all the time, it would be a big turn off for us if it did.
  13. If you are outside on your balcony in a Suite on "E" class and the door is closed the AC does NOT turn off. There is no way to fully close/lock the balcony door on "E" class when outside as there is on "S" & "M" class ships. Is that a big deal? Well..... when we were at sea and sat on the balcony with the door "closed" the whistling of the wind was often more powerful than the sound of the sea. But the AC didn't turn off. Our friends were in an IV room. We visited them and thought it was ok but doubt we would ever book one. The windows are closed every night at 11PM (at least they were on this sailing) which would make us very unhappy as we like to sit on the balcony late in the evening.
  14. That would be an interesting new itinerary...
  15. Thanks...and honestly the internet can't be much worse than it was on the Apex trip we just finished a couple of weeks ago. We've done 7 TA's with X and never had internet that bad.
  16. We aren't "done" with Celebrity either. BUT we ARE trying out Oceania at the end of 2023 and have a 2nd Oceania cruise booked the end of 2024. We have one X cruise during that same time. We like Celebrity, a lot, but they need new itineraries if the pricing is going to continue to increase. Can't see paying high prices to see the same thing repeatedly.
  17. I know someone posted the release dates for the new itineraries for 2024 & 25 but just searched and can't find the thread. Would someone please post them again. Curious about Europe and transatlantics especially.
  18. Does anyone actually know when the new itineraries and prices will be available for booking? Interested in transatlantics and whatever sailings follow.
  19. Oh but having that oversized balcony is well worth the extra time it takes to make a phone call for service!!!
  20. Just off the Apex TA 2 weeks ago and agree with several here about the change in atmosphere/vibe on the Edge class vs "S" class. We do have another Apex cruise booked but have already decided we will stick with "S" class after that. The music in the atrium was so loud all evening long, with a DJ as the majority of the entertainment. We aren't old, but we aren't 30 anymore either, and the throbbing music that pervades the entire atrium area is just not what I call entertainment. What we mostly saw, outside of those hanging around the martini bar, were people passing through quickly... us included. Not much to entice you to sit down. Would love to see a 3 piece band like the Ensemble Lounge on "S" class usually features or a jazz band or a dance band like we used to see in the Sky Lounge.... that's why we are heading back to "S" class after our next cruise...... IF we find itineraries we like and can afford..... the increasing prices make unique itineraries more important, can't see paying top dollar to do the same cruise over and over.
