  1. Does anyone know who the current cruise director is on Apex and how much longer they expect to be on that ship?
  2. We were in a CS on the Apex TA last November and had rough seas for several days from hurricane swells. I remember when standing outside The Club waiting for an elevator thinking that the creaking was so loud it sounded as if the ship was going to crack in half. It was really bad inside the suite for those days too. Only kept me awake on the worst rough sea days but it seems this class of ship has more than its share of creaky noises.
  3. Do these tours end with lunch in one of the specialty restaurants? The only time we've done one of these was on Reflection back in 2016 and it ended with lunch at Murano's.
  4. Hopefully that's what we will find when we board Apex April 22 for the Eastbound TA.
  5. Agree it may vary by ship. My experience on S class ships is from our sailings from 2015 to 2020 all on S class ships and in every case the service in the Retreat(then Michael's) was excellent. We loved it. We have only experienced the Retreat lounge on the E class once, the Apex TA last fall. It's a lovely area but as I said the bartender, Johnson, was left to handle the room most of the times we were there. We will be trying it again on the TA this April.
  6. The snacks are nice but we found service quite lacking in the Retreat Lounge. Most of the time we went to the bar to get our drinks before dinner. There were far too many days when there was no other server than the bartender and he was trying his best to take care of everyone. While it's a beautiful area we prefer the lounge on the "S" class.
  7. Glad you are having a great cruise. Really ought to find a night to have dinner in Luminae, it really is excellent and service as good as any of the specialties.
  8. Thanks for posting a dear friend is boarding today for his first cruise in over 20 years. I am hopeful he and his wife will feel the same as you did!!
  9. I really don't understand the change in beef selections. Royal Caribbean, which just introduced new MDR menus, have prime rib, filets and other beef items included on the menus. Why would Celebrity, which is part RCI, not offer the same? It makes no sense.
  10. Just another of the many reasons to stay away from the buffet........
  11. There was a filet available every night on the Apex TA in November, hopefully will still be available on the one this April. It was NOT part of the anytime menu, but the wait staff made sure we knew about it. Also available was a pasta dish each night.
  12. Does anyone have any idea of the menu for the dinner being sold for the Magic Carpet for our sailing in the cruise planner for the Apex TA coming up i April? It's something like $119.00 per person but I can't find a menu anywhere for it and the normal menu doesn't reflect anything that could cost this much. I am "assuming" it includes wine but there is no description of the dinner that explains what is included.
  13. Our friends are on the January 29 Reflection cruise and it looks like it's less than 50% full. There are still about 40 Sky Suites open and several CS & Signature suites also. Most of the Aqua 1's are also available. Can't imagine that it will be even 50% capacity. It's their 1st cruise in 20 years so not sure if this is good or bad.
  14. My husband loves participating in the guest's choir. Unfortunately on the Apex's last TA in November while the practices were fine the entertainment crew thought the public "performance" should wait until almost 11PM on the night before we disembarked AND had the choir members occupied for most of the late afternoon and early evening that day in preparation. No fun at all for partners of those participating and the late show was a pain for those rising early for disembark. We're on the Apex TA again this April and if it's run the same way they will have lost a participant.
  15. We have friends on Reflection that day and will be watching the games too. Last time I cruised during playoff season and specifically the NFL Conference Championship games they showed them in Celebrity Central with several screens. Had snacks and wait staff there. It was a blast!! They also always have had the games on your cabin TV's. Enjoy!
  16. Thanks for your help, I may advise them to leave their car at a friends house and taxi over to the pier. Seems that would be the easiest thing to do.
  17. We have dear friends about to sail on Reflection, their 1st cruise in over 20 years. Can someone let me know what pier Reflection docks at in Ft Lauderdale and whether parking is close by and what the cost of parking will be for a 7 night cruise. The couple is elderly so as much information as they can get ahead of time will make things easier for them. Also is there a separate suites area for check in for the Reflection? Thanks for any help.
  18. I have them YEARS later on t-shirts. Always a fun moment when I discover one.
  19. On the Apex in November we found the Mast Grill to be pretty lousy. The size of the burger was larger than it used to be but it was tasteless. We liked the "old" burgers very much, but we just didn't bother going back after trying it on Apex. As someone else noted I didn't see the lines for this venue that we used to see on other sailings in the past. Luminae service was outstanding as always but there were several disappointing entrees. We are due to be back on Apex in April and we plan on exploring other options than Luminae, whether it's because we're just tired of the menu or it wasn't as good in the past I can't say but it's time to try other venues.
  20. There sure are a lot of Canadians here that would disagree.
  21. That one and the same on the other side of the ship used to be the most sought after Sky Suite on the M class as I recall. Larger than all other Sky Suites and the location used to mean excellent service all around being sandwiched between a PH and RS. Sounds like that is not the case anymore.
  22. It’s not that we didn’t like the suite class on Apex, it was fine, we just like S class more. Luminae is better, more intimate, more choices. Service excellent on both. We prefer Retreat lounge on S class, with drink servers not just the bartender trying to take care of the whole lounge. While Cafe al Bacio is bigger I do not agree it is easy to get a seat… if you would want one. The martini bar in the same area plays incredibly loud music pretty much all the time. The E class theatre is amazing, far nicer than S class, Eden is nice. I am sure some would disagree but we didn’t like being so far forward, prefer the more centralized location of most suites on S class. But our next cruise is on Apex and am sure it will be fine, but after that we will go back to S class, if we can afford it…..which is a big IF considering pricing these days.
  23. Don’t agree, we prefer S class and we sail in suites
