RoyalUP? (Bid for stateroom upgrade)
dcgrumpy replied to John&LaLa's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Has anyone else had a circumstance where you can modify all but one bid? We're in a balcony and my kids are across the hall in an inside. My 21yo son wasn't positive if he could go so we put them there in case my younger daughters were alone. They're both under 21. Once we knew he could go I bid on every category available. But once I bid I wasn't able to modify for a Spacious Balcony but I can modify everything else. It stinks because the only category currently available for a party of 3 is a spacious ovb. I would increase the bid if I could. I originally only bid a little more than minimum. -
RC Assigned Check-in Time - Flexable?
dcgrumpy replied to susanf31's topic in Royal Caribbean International
That's good to hear. When we sailed in May it was just one long line. -
RC Assigned Check-in Time - Flexable?

I'll have to see what time it is. We may be cutting it close to keep the rental under 24 hours. -

That's good to know. We're dropping off a rental next Saturday. Maybe we can drop off luggage first. -
RC Assigned Check-in Time - Flexable?
dcgrumpy replied to susanf31's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yes. There are long lines because people don't adhere to their times and show up when it's convenient for them. Like you're planning on doing. I sailed on Harmony in May I showed up at 11:25 for an 11:30 check in. I ended up waiting for over an hour because no one as checking times. It's very frustrating. If you don't want to wait, switch the check in time to the latest available. -
Virgin Voyages Just Dropped Testing in US!
dcgrumpy replied to ace1zoe2's topic in Royal Caribbean International
That's the same thing that is on the website. It says starting 7/25 testing isn't required in certain ports. But the list says it is required for Miami -

From the US? The website still says that is required from Miami. -

Where did you read that NCL is stopping testing for cruises from the US? Their website still says that testing is required. ETA Actually Azamara and Viking websites also still state that testing is required from the US. Do you have a link? -
New RC cruiser here ... some Mariner questions ...
dcgrumpy replied to alleghator's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Is that a recent change? They used to be covered and it still says that they're covered on RCCL website. -

Cans of Seltzer on Oasis of the Seas Ship
dcgrumpy replied to loving2cruise's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I haven't seen any. I drink a lot of seltzer. On my last cruise I drank Dasani Sparkling water from the freestyle machine and bottles of Pellegrino. -
Docs Needed for Online Check-In?
dcgrumpy replied to handbellplayer's topic in Royal Caribbean International
That's what I do. Pick a boarding and go back at another time for everything else. And the last 2 times I checked in it didn't actually open until 12:10 or 12:15. -
C&A upgrade - don't know why
dcgrumpy replied to fortmilles's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The same thing happened to my husband but eventually they caught on. LOL. He had 4 more points than the rest of the family for years. He hit Platinum before the rest of us. Then after we sailed on Harmony in May his point total only went up 3, so now we're equal. I have no idea where those points came from or how they finally figured it out. -
Are the rooms identical types with the same amount of people? It has nothing to do with booking one room and adding a second. It sounds like the first room that you booked didn't have an Guarantees available, but it was an option for the second room. I don't look at it as them charging a fee to pick my room. I look at it as a discount if I choose not to pick my own room.

Me too. I actually preferred it years ago before the slide, zipline, cabanas, Barefoot Beach Club...

Check in (and get boarding time) - App or Website?
dcgrumpy replied to BobNoxious's topic in Royal Caribbean International
When I checked in for Harmony for a May cruise it was 11am. I checked in 2 weeks ago0 for Mariner and it was 10:30am. -
You can keep trying. I didn't receive an email at all for my last 2 cruises. I was able to bid at 90 days out for one and 45 for the other. I just kept checking until it worked.

Do CD's really impact your cruise experience?
dcgrumpy replied to motheroftwocats814's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Funny, I was going to say the CD doesn't matter to me unless it's a horrible one, like John Blair. LOL What you like is what I disliked. He makes it all about himself. Different strokes. -
Royal 35% Internet Discount Pre-Cruise - Really???
dcgrumpy replied to IsanTom's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yes that how it is for my sailing. If I select 1 device it's 20% off, 2 is 35%, 3 is 40%, 4 is 50%. The email I received said "up to 50% off". -
I'd be more worried about being packed like sardines with other guests in On Air over locals in Labadee. You're outside and you don't have to go near them if you don't want to.

Royal Caribbean Covid change of policy Email?
dcgrumpy replied to Elmer_Fudd's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I received an email on 9/21/21 about 12 and up needing to be vaccinated. I'm not sure if it was the first email that was sent but it's the only one that I can find. Yes the TA definitely should have notified the OP. I just don't understand how anyone with a vacation planned doesn't check to see if protocols have changed in the last 10 months.
