  1. Greetings! Sea Dog here as one of your hosts to this review of our FOB cruise. Thank you Andrew for the kind words. I hope everyone enjoys the hype video to get you in the mood to follow our adventure. As Andrew mentioned there is over 30 of us Cruise Critic members who are cruising together. Wondering who’s with us? Take a look. Now in order to go on a cruise several things must happen. First and foremost we book our longtime pet sitter to watch our little monsters. Bella will be home as well as Charlie and Lizzy. I hear they have set up iBark chat so that they can communicate while we are gone. Here is some of the things they may talk about. A lot of other things to do to get ready including ironing my Sea Dog apparel. And then on to packing. Packing a suitcase is like trying to stuff a turkey. You keep shoving things in until you think it's going to explode. I actually am a expert at packing a suitcase. I can fit three weeks' worth of clothes into a carry-on bag, but I can't remember where I put my toothbrush. My approach to packing is like playing Tetris with your clothes. Now when packing it’s very, very important to pack your cruise essentials. In an effort to educate and inform, I have put together a little video of the essential things you should pack for your cruise. Please watch this important public service video. Saturday Linda and I fly out of the brand new KCI terminal. Our flight is at 6:30am so we will be getting up at “0 Dark Thirty” (No stealth choppers) to get to the airport. I’ll post some pics then. Until then I’m glad you will be following along with our shenanigans. Cheers! Sea Dog
  2. We will work on him. A couple of Kraken Colada’s and we will get him convinced. 😉 I actually saw that too. I’ve been in the caves they are pretty cool. Subtropolis is fairly close to the Ford Claycomo Plant where they manufacture and then send them to the caves where they are protected from weather.
  3. Sorry I haven’t responded to many posts, I’ve been in extreme pre cruise mode making sure everything is ready and taking care of some of Linda’s needs as she is trying to finish up a legal brief before we leave. Love hearing the car stories. My first car I had to drive was my parents Lincoln Marquee Station Wagon. Then for my graduation present my parents got me 1975 Ford Econoline Van I paid to have the interior customized With shag carpeting on the floor and sides, wood panel ceiling with airplane lights and a bed in back as you never know when you might get tired of driving and need a nap.😉 It was great for hauling my drums to gigs and drive in movies with dates. best car was sad letting me drive his 911T Porsche. I did not get to drive it all the time but when I did it was a lot of fun.
  4. We are flying. 6:30am flight out of KC with a layover in Atlanta. Some day we may drive and do it over 3 days. Straight through would be 21 hours. And yes I have learned my lesson take my meds and drink plenty of water.
  5. Safe travels wished for you. Hope to see you around the hotel on Saturday. We should arrive sometime after 2:30pm.
  6. Wow what a great score. I will be interested in your impressions of the Blanton’s. I like it I had a wonderful evening at a tasting of Keeper’s Heart. They are a new distillery in Minneapolis. They lured away from Ireland master distiller Brian Nation. He is a legend and was the master distiller at Jameson, Middleton Rare and Teiling Irish Whiskey. He is now making a combination of Irish and American Whiskey and also Irish Whiskey and American Bourbon. I had him sign a bottle for me and got a selfie. Great guy and oh so smart. If you get a chance a see a bottle grab it as it’s really good.
  7. I agree but compared to what I saw on Symphony this past September it’s not my preference.
  8. I agree whatever makes you happy. I’m hoping I find the right balance between doing nothing (less stress) and doing freelance (stressful). Im hoping this computer will stay current for at least 10 years. Most of my other computers are good for 3 years before the technology changes and makes it obsolete.
  9. Hopefully just a freelance editing gig here and there. Nothing full time. Trying to keep myself busy. I think I've watched every episodes of "Friends" as I never really watched that show.
  10. Well other exciting things are happening before our cruise. Linda has picked up a bunch of freelance legal work. She has 3 cases and is writing briefs for another group of Lawyers. The pay is great and will really help with our cruise habit. I also picked up a freelance editing gig after we get back. Should be easy and pays great. so I pulled the trigger on a new Mac computer. I’m getting a Mac Studio Ultra with the new M1 chip. It has 125gb of ram and a 8TB SSD drive. It’s 20 core cpu and a 48 core gpu. Should be enough horsepower to edit 4K video easily. I guess Merry Christmas to me.
  11. Thanks for the comments. I knew we didn’t get a gift but was curious about the water vs soda. We get the drink package so I always ask for a can of Diet Coke at a bar to keep in the room.
