  1. I used my medallion in San Juan last November thinking it would come from our OBC. I was thrilled because we had a lot and the shirt I was buying would then be "free". Nope, charged the credit card directly that I had on file with Princess. Might as well have just used the card outright! Not sure what the big deal is with using your medallion to shop on land.
  2. When we get off our Carnival ship in Miami we want to do a cruise line shore excursion since our flight is after 4PM. I understand they keep your luggage on the bus and then transport you to the airport at the end of the tour. My question is what do you do with your carryon bag that has medications, electronics, passport, etc? Do you leave them on the bus in your seat or put them down below with the big bags? Does the bus stay air-conditioned when you're not on it? Just worried about possible theft and also medications getting warm in the South Florida heat.
  3. In my Cruise Manager it says you get $25 off onboard when you buy $100 Effy Cruise Cash.
  4. And also, the menu for the new breakfast is different from the Green Eggs and Ham. The french toast, pancake, and waffle options look positively horrible! I wouldn't eat them. Weird combinations of food that I would never put together. I'm a vegetarian so those are really my only options other than plain old eggs or omelet. And I'm not paying $15 for that when I can get it in the MDR for no extra cost.
  5. When I look in my planner the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast has no dropdown option to pick a date and book. The Thing 1 & 2 breakfast shows availability every day except embarkation with 2 seatings each day. Do they really think that many people want to go to it?
  6. In 2019 the adult price was $5 and I thought that was great. If I hadn't done it before I would still do it for $15 just to have the experience. But probably only once.
  7. Good to know, thanks. I found the page on Carnival's website to check the balance so I'm ready.
  8. Thanks, I will do that. I'm not using it for advanced purchases only for on the ship and I don't want a big surprise when I get on the ship!
  9. What do you mean by not loaded? You mean there was no money on the card? I'm going to buy a carnival gift card for my cruise later this year to use on board for drinks and such. Is there a way to find out ahead of time how much is on it?
  10. My aunt wrote in sliced papaya everyday and received it. I thought she was nuts to do that but apparently not!
  11. I was on the Caribbean Princess last November and did EZ check. Thanks to advice from someone here, I knew to ask about it early on in the cruise at Guest Services. Nothing ever showed up in our cabin like in years past. Your airline ticket will have all the information you need. The form is pretty short and easy.
  12. I've seen threads about the gift cards but didn't realize you get them for a cheaper price. My cruise companion is a member so we'll be getting one. Are they electronic or physical? I want to wait until closer to the cruise just in case we don't go for some reason. I'm assuming you get them instantly. How far in advance should we buy to make sure we have them in time for the cruise?
  13. I plan on getting a $500 Carnival gift card to use on the ship for drinks, souvenirs, etc. I don't want to use it ahead of time for any pre-cruise purchases. Can I add it to my account now (where?) or do I have to wait until I'm on the ship and use the app or go to Guest Services? Also, if I don't use it all will they put the balance back on the gift card or send me a check?
  14. Vines wine bar has a charcuterie board and there's also Planks (BBQ) and Steamers (seafood)
  15. Got off a Princess ship in Nov and ordered an Uber to take us to El Morro. It was something like $4 and arrived quickly. Traffic was bad though. Once at the entrance they will have to walk up a steep hill and once inside there are steps all around. If they can handle that, then using Ubers to get to/between the forts should work for them. Then order an Uber back to the port. That way they can see Old Town through the car window without walking all the hills.
  16. We are taking a Carnival cruise out of Miami and the airfares are ridiculous! I can get Ft. Lauderdale flights much cheaper. If we fly out of FLL after the cruise, we would take an Uber to the airport. I understand it's about 30 minutes away and will of course cost a little more than an uber to MIA. Other than that, am I missing anything? Do others do this? Is it easy?
  17. OP here, I found the company by doing an internet search and found Trip Advisor reviews. It's called San Juan Happy Tours. Based on the mostly good reviews we'll be using them next cruise.
  18. I had the drink package last time on Carnival, but won't this time. Do you sign for each drink you buy? (I prefer that in case of any erroneous charges on my folio. Easier to fight it when I can prove I didn't sign for it)
  19. I saw it yesterday and booked right away. Been wanting to do one of these for years. I like that you can buy it in advance instead of a mad dash to Guest Services upon embarkation.
  20. Yes my rule of thumb is always have cabins above and below but I thought this would be something different for a change.
  21. We decided against the cove balcony. Well, actually, my travelling companion said "no way". So we're in a regular balcony and happy. Maybe I'll get to try the cove balcony another time.
  22. Yum, had it on the Sunshine and LOVED it! My next cruise on the Miracle didn't offer it. You would have thought my dog died I was so upset and let down. My next cruise is on the Magic and I hope they have it. I know, embarkation day only. I'll be knocking people over to get to the buffet!
