The future room charges are only locked for 48 hours and it is more like 40% of room charge has to be risked to prevent the 48 hour lock. Early and late in the cruise works for non played room charges BTW that same lock also applies if the transfer is OBC and the 40% is not risked. So if intending to recover OBC take all of it at once.

Just Curious. How Many Times........
cruisegus replied to Ret MP's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Any Caribbean cruise that stops at Coco Cay or Labadee is a plus. The only time that it's ok not to stop at one of them is if you get a Southern itinerary i.e. ABC islands. Now royal needs something like Coco Cay for western itineraries that involve an Oasis class ship -
Do they still send table request confirmation?
cruisegus replied to mcatmcat's topic in Royal Caribbean International
10 cruise since the first of the year. One email response back. On one of those even with an invoice that stated early dining the switched it to My time and could not fix, survey resulted in 1's Only 4 of the others correct when boarding. Even tables for two on invoice not honored at boarding, those were corrected though. Talking with seating / table asigner twice now on different ships, either requests are not being sent to ships or someone is lying to me -
Am I crazy? Book Mariner instead of Wonder.
cruisegus replied to RoperDK's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Agree with the ship class but highly dislike 5 day, and absolutly hate 4 day cruises (based on that I will never try a 3 day). Not only the clientele on them but the degradation of upper level perks. -
Is this cutting it too close for getting to flight?
cruisegus replied to Clovis8's topic in Royal Caribbean International
usually when they make that big of flight change, it is because that have eliminated that mid afternoon flight completely. They tend to move as many as possible to the closest flight in either direction, before or after the original time. That would leave me to believe the only option for the OP, who can move their flight for free, is going to be late afternoon or early evening. At least this has been our experience with the post pandemic reduction in flights, which BTW has as much to do with a lack of Air Traffic Controllers as with air crews. -
Are formal nights returning?
cruisegus replied to Dolby1000's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I personally Hope they never return, at least not like it was 20 years ago This has been most of my experiences' also -
almost every Lunch and Dinner in the windjammer has a fish entre. That and chicken is almost always available on the line. That said I believe Chops; !%) and Giovanni's all have a fish dish on there menus. But if you're asking about a specific fish place like Fish & Ships or Hooked, the answer is No

Awful food on Harmony of the Seas

@jencruzin we can both see by @cruiseboy89130 response that they are another of those that enjoy all the Freedom and Liberty that WE FEW have sacrificed for, without having to do anything. -
Junior Suite vs Grand Suite on Mariner
cruisegus replied to NoMadSean's topic in Royal Caribbean International
As most others have posted and I agree, the only really usefull added benefit to a GS over a JS on a ship less than Oasis and Quantum Class is "free" drinks in suite lounge ~5-8 pm and a seperate place to sit for breakfast in the mornings "generally in Chops", but same menu as MDR breakfast. Yes the GS cabin is also a bit larger than the JS, but the JS is also much larger than an OVB. -
Just did my 5 and 4 b2b. I'm now convinced I will never do anything less than a 6 day again and then I want it paired with an 8 day b2b Any turn around day TAD, you pretty much loss half the morning meeting time get off get on again. 4 day less no Top Tier; 5 day less no 340+ or pinnacle lunch; less complementary bottles of wine. The whole atmosphere is different on shorter cruises, don't even mention the short weekend cruises, talk about Party Cruises. Pool deck is really jamed on any sea day. For me it is not an experiance I want to repeat

Minors losing their Diamond status…
cruisegus replied to rrraydon's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Thanks for posting a Real Life example of why C & A program is buldging at the seams. We will all start to suffer with benefit reductions if Royal does not do something soon -

All those problems go away when you take the time to talk to your pool attendants and those folks sitting next to you. The real problem is those that drop a towel and book at 8 am and then are not seen or heard from again until noon

Minors losing their Diamond status…
cruisegus replied to rrraydon's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Not the way it is supposed to work by the current rules But that is the way it should actually be -
Labadee is a peninsula on the northern portion of the island, it is more of a remote area from population concentrations, it is across from a fishing villiage that is where a lot of the worker live and come from. The compound has 20 foot high fences and wall around it and is guarded by security. We have never had a problem of any kind there and i feel perfectly safe. Believe me if there was any threat of a security risk, Royal Caribbean would not dock and you would have a sea day instead. One of my favorite stops

All my credit card got hit today for the charge, so the pending didn't drop off. Now the wait and watch for the refunds. All my complementry OBC is correct at $50, but no refunds of original OBC yet either

Anyone enjoying the new menu selections?
cruisegus replied to dleahy4444's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I've now been on several cruises using the new menu. Food is still cafeteria quality as it has been for years now. I have tried a number of the newer dishes that have been added and I'm satisfied with most. I found the Mexican night Burrito that someone decided to call an Enchilada to be pretty good. -
Are $2 bills appreciated for tips?
cruisegus replied to ShillyShally's topic in Royal Caribbean International
That's on Wells Fargo mainly, Heck they don't even want to cash a check that's drawn on their bank if you don't have an account with them. -

Heck, some local stores here in the Midwest will not even accept them. Can't imagine trying to use them in a foreign country.
