  1. Wow, florescent lights ... what next? I've escaped it so far but thanks for the tip. Who'd think to use sunscreen on your arms to go to the office?
  2. For what it's worth, I've always travelled with all my vitamins and meds in two containers, one AM and one PM. Nobody has ever said a thing, leaving or arriving.
  3. You might want to try a dummy booking to see if the details pop up.
  4. I'm still ignorant and confused (no prob, I'm used to it) about how you keep the night cream on your face when you sleep. I'd rather use a moisturizer in the evening. When I put cream on my forehead in the morning, just enough of it seeps in to cloud my eyesight just a teeny bit. I've tried lots of different products. Can anyone recommend a brand or type for me to try?
  5. LOVE Budapest! You should get out to see all the humongeous communist statues if you can ... the Hungarians have made them into a park. Very impressive.
  6. I don't, since my usual travel wardrobe is so boring. But I'm cruising out of SF in August so no airplanes involved. Might be fun.
  7. Sometimes special celebrations call for special champers.
  8. I've still got all the flights, but I agree with you that no point in worrying. Only when I saw my own name on one of the itineraries did I get a little skitzy. I did not book air through Avalon. I'm sailing out of Arles on 4/2 ... which cruise are you on?
  9. And of course I meant that I check my air res every day for the last week. I've heard of airlines changing a departure or return city ... hard to fathom how they can mess with their pax. I was a big Continental Air flyer, always on upgrades to first class. Then United came along and the big merger was on. Every time a flight was changed, even by a minute, I'd lose my seat. Back then you had to CALL to get it back, can you imagine? Actually, it wasn't too bad, they always answered the phone quickly.
  10. I hate travel glitches. My formula is to check my res once a month, once a week the final month and once a day the final day. Always directly with the airline. Keeps me out of trouble.
  11. Yup, I got the same response. But it's not resolved. Glad they're 'working diligently' and I feel bad for pax who booked air through Avalon.
  12. I think that woman should soak her kindling in purified water.
  13. For what it's worth, I've looked at this topic several times over the years. What I read from people who actually try to make this work tells me that it's only worth it if you buy something 'big' like an original painting. So read the info provided by the officials and go for it, knowing that it might be far more trouble than it's worth. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
  14. Now that's clever! And I know how to send it from my to my laptop ... I think! I hope Avalon gets this glitch under control, the app has a lot of great info and history that I want to read before the cruise starts. But I won't install the app again until this all gets cleared up. I've never had a single problem with technology, I'm soooo careful with it all.
  15. So maybe I could put each daily on my laptop so it's readable? That would be cool. Assuming I can figure out how to do it of course.
  16. Yes of course I'll reinstall the app once it's 'fixed'. My cruise starts April 2. Hopefully just the glitch and not a hack. I think it's hilarious that cruiseline 'dailies' disappeared the minute apps became readily available. Always enjoyed them every evening. I don't see much enjoyment out of reading a daily on a tiny phone screen. Did anyone ask the pax what they'd prefer?
  17. The 'bistro' dinner upstairs is one of the big things that always brings me back to Avalon!
  18. Oh thank you for this; I'll delete the app right now.
  19. Oh, is THAT what it is? Just noticed it this morning. I did my own air and flying on United, so it certainly caught my eye. I'd prefer not to stop in Fort Wayne on my way to Paris! What a mess, hope there's no identifying info on the Avalon app. Apparently anyone connecting at O'Hare gets published on the app, what fun. No doubt they'll catch it soon and fix it. Someone's going to be in the doghouse for this little blunder.
  20. You can do the whole cruise with one black top, a couple of scarves and some pretty earrings.
  21. I'm still trying to figure out why our OP doesn't just bring his own matches/lighter along.
  22. I'm doing the Rhine in November. For the first time in my life, I booked the pre-package of Lake Como and Lucerne because I wanted to see them. And I didn't want to dork around with transfers and bags. I was quite surprised to find that the package is VERY expensive and there's little extra added. I'm paying a high price for convenience, but for this trip, it was necessary. Probably never do it again tho. Paris in particular is a piece of cake to visit independently. Other than George Clooney, I don't know much about Como or Lucerne.
  23. The summer months are always a question with European rivers. A lot of luck is involved. As far as the dining is concerned, ATSEAYLIFE, I am almost shocked to read that you thought it was bland ... in FRANCE??? I understand the criteria for preparing meals for large groups, but I'm used to eye-rolling-delicious French food. I'll be cruising Provence to Normandy in ten days, and I do hope for at least a few eye-rolls!
  24. With Avalon, I think all the Pano Suites are probably very close in size with the exception of the Royal Suites which always get snapped right up. A Royal Suite is lovely for two people but horrendously expensive. But my husband preferred to relax in the cabin instead of the lounges, so it worked out well for us. Next week I'm in a regular pano suite solo and I'll report back on the differences.
  25. VERY good observation ... if everyone waits until they're sailing, some of those ShoreX will disappear for 'lack of interest'.
