  1. Thank you Dr.Koob for taking time away from your cruise to write such great reviews and pictures. Some of the best written on this board, concise and informative. Unfortunate about the soufflés, those were some of our best desserts always piping hot. Jack
  2. Hello Walter, Alaska has been done on the Regatta an ‘R’ class ship. Not sure if things will change by 2025.
  3. what is it and where are you??
  4. Lots of good ideas from Maui and Guest, I will add one more, the pizzeria in the evening at Waves. The pizzas are so much better than the ones in Terrace Cafe at lunch, quite a few selections for toppings. The burrata is also worth a try. Enjoy 😊
  5. It is a shame your cruise is delayed, Regatta has been good over the years but there is only so much patching you can do before saying goodbye. Try and enjoy our fair city, unfortunately it is raining now, how unusual 😂.
  6. I remember the ‘ jam’ being Bon Maman with the red and white gingham lids. Has this changed to something like Smuckers fruit spread?
  7. Bender, I have found the best place to buy hard liquor is at a large grocery store such as Spar or Lidl. Not many liquor stores as we know them in North America. We have brought on board Scotch and vodka. Be sure to ask your room steward/butler for the appropriate mixers, if needed.
  8. The Big O martini is our go to for happy hour at 5 o’clock, 2 for 1.
  9. DJP31, it is a 10 minute walk to the Harbour Air seaplane base from the Cruise Terminal. They have various sightseeing options and also flights to Victoria or other places on Vancouver Island. Enjoy the city!
  10. Barbara60 you may also consider bringing on board wine & beer and bottle(s) of your favourite liquor for drinks in your cabin. Your room steward will replenish the mixes as needed.
  11. That really was funny 😂, but I don’t think JT is a Brit.
  12. Oceania does have a stated dress code, you will find it if you dig deep enough into their website. The problem is it is very rarely enforced to their own standards, so much depends on the dining venue and the ship. How people dress also depends on where they are sailing, from Northern Europe to the Caribbean to the South Pacific things change.
  13. If you go Baristas at approximately the same time every day as other coffee drinkers (addicts) you will probably see the same servers. They will get to know you and your regular order, it is always nice to give them something extra at the end of the cruise, especially if you have a difficult custom order.
  14. I have seen and heard far too many people not using common courtesy of please and thank you at the Terrace Cafe, lots of “ gimme some of that “. When we are ‘oot & aboot on the the ship we hear a myriad of ‘merican accents 😂.
  15. We have done the Atlantic in both directions and the time changes haven’t bothered us in either direction, we still manage to get 8 hours of sack time. Judge your own sleep patterns accordingly. As always look at the itinerary, if the ports of call appeal to you or are you more interested in the sea days on the ship. Enjoy it in either direction.
  16. Vegan butter, what am oxymoron much like dressy jeans 😂😂
  17. Are the dining areas for Toscana and Polo separate rooms or a back corner of the main room? Is there dedicated serving staff for your table ? Thanks for any and all the info on the new ship.
  18. SLW207693 thank you for the pics and info. When walking into Horizons do you get the stench from the smoking room?
  19. Thank you for all the information, looking forward to the next instalment.
  20. Chloe, I couldn’t agree more! Those are our favourites in that order. The pictures and menu of Ember look interesting, but more like a stepped up Applebees. Definitely not part of ‘ The finest cuisine at sea’ . The idea of being rushed out in an hour and a half does well, and doesn’t make for fine dining.
  21. Jacques will be missed, it is our favourite restaurant of all the specialties. The restaurant was always aspiring to be a fine French dining experience. To be part of the slow food movement to slow down and appreciate the cuisine. The sample menu for Ember looks interesting, the pictures of the space look more like a restaurant that wants to turn over their tables to increase revenue. The hour and a half eating guide is not conducive to relaxing over a meal. For someone with time constraints there is always the Terrace Cafe, or even the GDR.
  22. Following along with Joe’s posts of his recent cruise was great! If any of the tours Joe organized were as good as the tours he put together for our cruise on the Riviera last September you are lucky. We met Joe & Jeff and were on four tours with them it was a great time and lots of fun. They are wonderful b@#c*$s ( Jeff will know).
  23. LTH28 it was alcohol free, that is why the need for the rum.😀🥃
  24. There was no cost, it is the same as any other mixer, ( tonic, soda, Coke). I think the name is Goslings, same as the rum.
