  1. As someone who sailed solo several times preCovid, I think it's pricey. I did a 7 night Mex Riviera on another line in 2020. I was in a balcony cabin with deluxe beverage package ($483 value at the time) for $1,648 port fees and taxes were $470. So the cruise itself was $1165. That is $166/night. I try to stay under $200 per night as a solo and I prefer balcony cabins or above.

  2. Valencia - Oceanografic

In Nice - the Promenade des Anglais & Old Town. There is a nice beach - Plage de Marinere.

    Pisa - I mean let's lean! 🙂

Florence - Ponte Vecchio & Florence Cathedral

I hope your cruise planner has some neat options. I'd do a bus hop on/off tour in any of those places and have a blast! Also, if you also like food and there are food type adventures I bet that would be amazing in Italy as well! I think I could spend multiple days in each place.

How do you know what time these people plan on boarding? I would bet the majority of passengers board after the hallways to the staterooms have been opened.

I didn't say anything about timing. The folks who embark later (when staterooms are open) has nothing to do with my post. I was simply referring to those passengers that choose to both carry their large/multiple bags onto the ship AND to take up space with said bags in public areas.

  4. Were your friends able to get their bag when they disembarked? Lots of folks choose to carry their own bags when they embark. However, you need to have a plan of what you're going to do with them. It's frustrating for other passengers in the buffet when folks have their huge bags taking up table/floor space.

  5. As long as the Beverage Package stays under $80/day it makes sense for me. Fortunately (or not 😉 ) I rarely do 7 night or longer trips. I don't do specialty coffee but may have 1-2 diet sodas throughout the day. I also may have a couple of fruity/frozen drinks by the pool, 1-2 glasses of wine with dinner and maybe a pre/post dinner cocktail. That is easily $80 before tipping. I also drink 64-80 ounces of water a day....

  6. Not specifically. However, I try not to use my debit card for any over the phone or internet transactions.

Also, I would not use a credit card if I couldn't pay if off without interest each month. The exception would be some sort of emergency expense (e.g. medical, car, etc.). I wouldn't apply for a credit card for a one time purpose UNLESS for some reason I lacked the cash to pay for some type of emergency.

I choose to use a cash rewards credit card from my bank. You can change the 3% category monthly. Choices are online shopping, travel, dining, drug stores, gas, or home improvement/furnishings. Always earn 2% at grocery stores and wholesale clubs, 1% all other purchases. I then can transfer the rewards cash either back to the balance on the credit card or into my bank account. The card also offers some travel benefits when booked using the card. I also like, that because it's issued by my bank, I can pay off the balance by simply transferring funds through the app. Often, if I'm making say an Amazon purchase for $30, I'll immediately transfer the $30 from my checking to the credit card.

  7. Hey all! I got my new scale and it was a bit eye opening to see more detail than just weight. For example, BMI and Metabolic age. I have spent the last few days focusing on getting in my water, vitamins/minerals and keeping food healthy and staying below my BMR which is 1400cal per day. That means I have to stay BELOW that to lose weight. I have also changed the order of my morning. I now eat a little, take my ALCAR and Osteo BiFlex, then have coffee. It used to be coffee only....😀

Having worked for a long while in the fitness industry, I know what to do. It's just that I need accountability. So this thread, MyFitnessPal, MyZone and the Peloton app are helping to keep me motivated and accountable.

  8. There is a form on their website you can fill out. Prior experience - A rep will reach out quickly as they want the "sale"! https://www.royalcaribbean.com/resources/group-travel

Once you call in and set up the group, are you still given an agent that you are assigned? YES Last time I had a single agent that I was able to email with questions and changes rather than having to call in and get someone new every time.

We are going to want to have everyone book their own room and then get added to the group. Easier that way than having to collect that info, CC#'s, etc and passing it on. It also gives each guest control over their own reservation. Does Royal still allow that with groups? YES

  9. Hey all - it's been A LONG WHILE since I've cruised and about as long since posting in this thread. I just booked a quick getaway for August 2023. 246 days... I ideally want to lose 40 pounds. I'm unfortunately at my heaviest, ever 😞 I'm going to use these weigh-ins as sort of my accountability journal. I ordered a FITINDEX scale from Amazon because my sister is loving hers. She is doing Optavia. She is on day 6 and down a bit over 2lbs. If she continues kicking butt I may give it a whirl after the new year. I also got a new motivational water bottle. Not a big fan of carrying around a HUGE one so it's only 32oz but I thought it was cute...

  10. I'm confused. You booked the West Jet replacement flight, right? You are being refunded the difference in flights due to a lower cabin class, correct? If so, why would Princess owe you additional money?

For example, if I paid $500 for my flight at final payment. The next day it gets cancelled and I am rebooked on another flight for $300 and they refund the $200, I am made whole. Am I missing something?

In 2021, we moved a Crown Princess booking to March 2023 due to the threat of Covid. We also booked with EZAir a direct Business Class flight from Calgary to LAX, and with the airport transfer to ship. In mid 2022, our TA notified us that Air Canada cancelled Calgary direct flight. We were routed through LAS, no problem as things happened. 3 weeks ago, we made the final payment. The next day, Princess notified our travel agent that Air Canada cancelled the LAS flight. Now there is no flights that Air Canada could take us to LAX within reasonable timeframe. The only alternative is to book a direct flight with West Jet. Since West Jet do not offer Business Class. There is a refund on the airfare. I don’t know when did Air Canada cancel the LAS flight. But we were notified 1 day after the final payment that is somewhat questionable.

Princess offered a smaller amount in cash refund and a larger amount in Future Cruise Credit for the fare difference. Here is the catch on FCC; we must book a cruise by the end of this month, e.g. in 2 weeks, and the booked cruise must sail by March 2023. How can we apply this FCC as we are still sailing on Crown Princess in March 2023. Our TA escalated this issue but could not get resolution.

We have been Elite passengers at least 25 years ago. We still have a long way to be the top 3 passengers at the show. Yet, we have been invited to the top 40 passengers party. There is no way to treat loyal passengers with this behind the glass FCC.
