  1. I was on the Royal in early November and it was the worst coffee and espresso I’ve had since the restart at the IC, every cup, every shot, everyday. Not exactly sure why but I suspect it was the beans they were using. Enjoyed every thing else about the cruise, crew was great, food was good to very good. On the Ruby now and pleased to report the coffee and espresso at the IC is consistently good. I’ll ask one of the baristas what beans they are using and report back.
  2. I'm on a regular B2B on the Ruby in December, not a B2B(2B)(2B). The second leg is near capacity so I was interested in bidding on a CC. I was offered a bid opportunity for both legs and bid on the second leg only. That bid is currently "pending" but doesn't sail until 12/18 so I might not received a decline or accept email for a while. HTH, Rick
  3. Before Covid they had a session or two of free craps, roulette and blackjack lessons on the Princess cruises I was on. Since the restart I have only seen Queens Sea Poker which is free poker at a separate table that they setup for a few hours. Usually every second or third night. It's a good program but I think it would benefit the casino if they brought back the craps, roulette and blackjack lessons.
  4. Yep, that's it. Really looking forward to that cruise, several friends and family joining us for the big event. DW and I are on the roll call.
  5. Thanks for your report(s), I enjoyed following along In your final post I hope you include more Pro/Cons of the Majestic and Princess vs some of your other favorite ships and cruise lines. Since you have already shared some comparison gems I have my fingers crossed for more. So far DW and I have only cruised on Princess but like to hear more about other ships and lines. Thanks again for your report and pictures. It's also great to see 3 generations traveling together. So far in our family we have managed 2 generations on a cruise, working on 3 with a stretch goal of 4.
  6. Lost or broken medallions can be replaced when embarking at the port or at the guest services desk once onboard. On 2 of my last 5 cruises the battery in the medallion was weak and sometimes would not unlock the cabin door. I stopped by GS and they replaced the broken medallion in minutes. The process is almost identical to replacing the old card keys except you get a new medallion that automatically unlocks the door as you approach your cabin. Very nice !!
  7. I have been curious about that as well so I went back and checked my upgrade/bid emails. I will be on the 10/30 Royal, 12/2 & 12/18 Ruby. I received the first upgrade/bid email after final payment, then another about a week later for each cruise. The first and second email for each cruise have identical bid amounts for each category so far. It will be interesting to see if this is the standard procedure for all cruises or if in some cases they lower the bid amounts etc.
  8. I was on the Ruby from 9/17 to 9/23 and the only decent red <$12 was the Decoy Merlot. Most bars had it but not all. I'm on the Royal on 10/30 and sure hope they have Decoy Merlot as it was my goto Red. I'll bring two bottles of decent wine - just in case. I did't try the white wines but didn't meet anyone who was happy with the selection under $12 but maybe some white wine drinkers can chime in.
  9. Agreed, very efficient and much improved over the old system
  10. Also see the Sapphire stopping in Monterey on the 11 night cruise departing Vancouver September 27, 2023 Hopefully Princess will add more in the future.
  11. +1 I have about a dozen cruises booked on Princess. Only 1 CC mini, an M6 in April 2024.
  12. Also check the report from LIVE from Royal Princess sailing Sept 24 - (3 day Coastal) followed by Sept 27- (12 Day Mexico) for the Royal which just completed the Pacific coastal and Mexican Rivera Unfortunately, very bad reports as well... A far cry from the "stream your favorite shows, movies, music and sports" and "best internet at sea" that Padgett is peddling.
  13. My friend onboard said the captain announced a change in itinerary; skipping PV and Manzanillo. Overnight in Mazatlan, then head to Loreto then Cabo.

  15. Hopefully this storm will fizz out and or change directions and not affect the sailing. -Rick Noaa map https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_ep1+shtml/204339.shtml?cone#contents AP article Tropical Storm Orlene forms off Mexico’s Pacific coast: MEXICO CITY (AP) 9/29/22— Tropical Storm Orlene formed off Mexico’s Pacific coast Thursday and was forecast to strengthen to a hurricane before making a projected landfall early next week. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Orlene had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph (75 kmh) and was moving west-northwest at 10 mph (17 kmh). It forecast that Orlene would become a hurricane Friday night. The storm was centered about 290 miles (465 km) south-southwest of Manzanillo. While still days away, landfall was expected to be in Mexico’s Sinaloa state. https://apnews.com/article/hurricanes-mexico-caribbean-storms-tropical-f95242eec953369952e56e2f221549bc
  16. Wow, what a disappointment. No aft facing balconies or suites. That's a non starter for me. See ya on a different ship. -Rick
  17. Great tip - thanks. I checked our email promos and they had "fallen off" on mine and DW's. We changed them back, now I hope to get an upgrade offer for my December cruise...
  18. This is the best news I have heard all week. DW and I board the Ruby on 9/17, many thanks for all the updates !!! Cheers, Rick & Jeanie BTW, I'm still going to lug 2 of my favorite wines - just in case...
  19. I use crew chat on the app (when it works) for just about any issues that come up during the cruise. Two cruises ago I used crew chat for a Crown Grill billing issue. It was taken care of in less time than it takes to walk down to Customer service. Very efficient for the crew and customer. And yes, I check my account everyday and take a picture of the folio on the final evening or morning before leaving. Very important.
  20. That's been my impression of the wine offerings on Princess. Many thanks for posting the spreadsheet and confirming my previous wine experiences with Princess. I would prefer to buy on board but will continue to lug my favorites so I can enjoy wine with dinner. Thanks again, Rick
  21. Wow, thanks for sharing those photos. I have only seen Latte / Cappuccino art like that at barista competitions. Any chance you remember the name of the barista?
