  1. I have looked at Celebrity and their prices are crazy - sorry for a mint on my pillow not going to pay way more for a Caribbean cruise. And unless you are in a suite you are now 2nd class - and the infinity verandas on the new ships are not a veranda. We were avid Celebrity cruisers but gave up with all their changes and their ridiculous prices.
  2. Sorry about the multiple posts - my CC was having issues.
  3. If you have access to email I would be emailing corporate right now and asking for a large room with a veranda. Gus@hollandamerica.com - President of Holland America.

  6. I received it for a Feb 2024 sailing - no way I would do this. I assume they are hurting for $$ and want people to pay in full well in advance of when cruises are actually sailing.
  7. FYI Medjets is having a sale on Monday for its policy. It doesn't provide medical care but will fly you anywhere you wish if you are hospitalized. We buy it for the year.
  8. Just a heads up that on Monday November. 28th Medjets is having a black Friday sale. It is not insurance but instead of ending up at a foreign hospital for care you will be flown to your hospital of choice.
  9. You may want to take the Florida turnpike if you are coming from the Atlanta area and then head over to the east coast when it splits around Orlando. Just check that your electronic pass works on the turnpike. We find it a much easier drive coming from the Atlanta area and all of our friends who live by us in South Florida also always take the turnpike vs 95. If you live on the Georgia coast then obviously 95 will work for you but if it backs up around Jupiter you can. head over to the turnpike which parallels 95 but then goes to Fort Lauderdale. Try to avoid rush hour which starts around 3 PM in South Florida because at that time all the roads are a mess.
  10. If you are TSA pre or global entry you should be okay, if not the lines for security are very long at FLL and they start at 6 AM since many flights leave at 7 AM. We were shocked at how crowded the airport was for our 7:17 AM flight to LAX.
  11. Many people now use Messenger on Facebook or What's App to communicate as long as you have wifi.
  12. https://www.enjuris.com/south-carolina/insurance-bad-faith/. Terri I found this online about what to do in your state when an insurance company is acting in bad faith.
  13. Everyone has their own opinion about aft cabins. On the Celebrity M class ships we loved the aft cabins - they were very quiet and had an extended balcony. Based on this experience we booked an aft on Deck 5 on the NS for a cruise this past winter. It was our first cruise with HAL. We were very bothered by the noise of the wake on the balcony and the vibration to the point that we asked to change rooms. Lucky for us the ship was 1/2 empty. We were offered an aft on deck 7 -much quieter when in the room and barely any vibration but on the balcony we still heard the noise of the wake. We were also given a choice of a vista suite on deck 7 midship which we took - it was very quiet and though the balcony was much smaller we enjoyed the room. If we ever do an aft room again it would have to be on deck 7 or above for us since the higher you go the less you hear the wake. For many others the sound of the wake is just 'white noise' for us it wasn't.
  14. As I recall those were for our life vests but there are two big drawers in the bed frame - which we didn't know about until after we left the ship.
  15. We have found that the app dayuse is great and there are hotels listed right by the airport for today that have rooms available. You can hang out with a real room and relax and use all the hotel facilities.
  16. The medical and repatriation coverage from Holland America is not sufficient for an out of the country trip IMHO. What Holland America trip coverage does do is let you cancel your trip for any reason and get 90% of your cost back for the platinum plan. If you have issues during the trip you will get $$. back. If you purchase private travel insurance w/in 14 days of your first payment you can buy any of the travel insurance plans offered by private companies and determine the amount of coverage you need. Sorry I can't answer any of your Covid questions. Not sure if cruise critic will let me post this but we use a site that has a square mouth to get our quotes.
  17. We had only sailed on Celebrity and with our children on Royal Caribbean. We did not like that Celebrity now has the ship within the ship experience. We also thought the price point was much higher than Holland America/Princess. We also did not want an infinity veranda which for us meant that it was unusable for the hot Caribbean where all the a/c would leave the room when we opened it up. We tried the Statendam this past winter for a Caribbean cruise and loved it. With that being said - we don't care about the large production shows and doing trivia etc during the day. Instead we booked a retreat - and we stayed there with a private hot tub and breakfast and lunch delivered to us in our cabana. We booked two more cruises with Holland thanks to our experience with them.
  18. You need to contact senior people at HAL the agents give you ridiculous answers to questions like this. The airline changed the flight not you, HAL should change your flight with no charge unless it is American who is demanding the fee for the change - in which case you need to deal with American or HAL does.
  19. I use Squaremouth and always call them.
  20. Oops meant all season long from May through October 🙂
  21. Thank you - wish they would do this one all year long I think they would have a lot of people interested in visiting these types of ports - the one they discontinued sounds fabulous.
  22. That is one on our bucket list as well in 2024. Do you recommend the one in May or the one in September?
  23. I suggest that in your emails and discussion with the cruise line staff you not use the word "negligence" as I agree that this will probably get your issue sent to legal. The alternative is to say that your wife slipped on some water in the hallway on the named ship with the date, which caused her to have a broken arm, and you would like reimbursement for the out of pocket medical expenses she has incurred both on the ship and 'off the ship'. Then submit the bills. I am assuming that you had no travel insurance since if you did this would cover your medical costs. If you want reimbursement for more than out of pocket medical expenses you will need an attorney in the Washington state area as set forth in the cruise contract, and note the notice requirements and time to bring this lawsuit is fairly short for personal injury cases. Also I am pretty sure that if you are given any monies from Holland America they will ask you to waive any and all other rights for additional damages and accept these monies as full settlement of your claim.
  24. Make sure you file your claims w/in the time frames listed on your policy. They can be quite short and require doctor visits and documentation w/in very specific periods of time. Do NOT trust what the agent tells you over the phone. Start the claims process for both policies you hold online now. This way you have documented your claim(s). They can then pay out as agreed by the policy terms.
  25. Email the head people. I would also let them know how dissatisfied you are with their service.
