  1. I booked a Silo 10-day cruise on 8/17 and FP is at 90 days. I think the 120 day FP is for cruises 15+ days . ???? Edit: I probably should have read the complete thread before responding. Seems issue has been clarified. Carry on !! mac_tlc
  2. Actually last week on the Edge as it cruises Dawes glacier there was a naturalist pointing out several areas of interest. We had no problem sitting comfortably on our aft veranda and noticing the areas that were highlighted. In fact for a decent portion of that event, the Edge was stationary, or turning in place so even you who would be up front would be in the back eventually. As it should be. Sorta sounds like karma to me. mac_tlc
  3. Has to be a lot more than 50 PUP's to go on a 3/4 night cruise..... mac_tlc
  4. We have had this “discussion” before and I still disagree with you. The job on the bridge is safe navigation, not viewing the surrounding area. Bad analogy. We have done afts in Norway and Alaska twice — as recently as last week. We love them and do not at all consider them suboptimal. To each his own. If I had a choice of a forward or aft cabin, I’d take the aft. Too much wind forward. For some, the aft views do do it. For the Panama Canal, I can see the forward view being different. mac_tlc
  5. That is different than the offer that was on the Edge last week. OBC's were as stated, but under the BOOK LATER option, we have 6 months to choose the next cruise in order to retain the OBC and one year before the deposit is lost.
  6. I didn’t do anything on board. I chose the early dinner time when the reservation was made, I think it said 6pm. This card was waiting for us in the cabin.
  7. Not exactly . We just got off the Edge, had 5:30 dining in Cyprus at table 511 every night. While our neighbors changed most nights, we had a fixed time and table. In fact the line to get into the restaurant was long some nights, we just went around it and directly to our table. mac_tlc
  8. Well the bags are packed and in the hallway. We have departure group 38 — one of the last. That’s fine, let the crowd think a bit. We are staying in Seattle Friday night and heading home Saturday morning. If we get to the hotel too early we will have no where to go. Thanks for following along! As usual, it has been enjoyable writing about our journey. There will be some final thoughts once we get home, on Eden, Spruce Tip Beer, and other ship stuff! mac_tlc
  9. My son has done this several times in the past week🙄🙄. mac_tlc
  10. Having sailed 25+ Royal Caribbean sailings and now 14 Celebrity cruises, I see a lot of comparison threads. There are an easy four things that, for us, make a difference. One : Smoke free casino. This is numbers 1 , 2, and 3. I detest the smoke in Royals casino and their attempt to appease me on some ships with a smoke-free closet casino ain’t cutting it. Two: I like being treated as an adult…even if I don’t act like it all the time. Don’t ask me to scan my card for a towel… Three: While trivial to some, noticeable to me. Not a big balsamic fan. And, sure, you may find it on a Royal ship if you ask, more often than not they have looked at me like I just asked to drive the ship. And last but not least: Not a mystical, magical vegetable spread, but butter. A few random thoughts on day 7…….. mac_tlc
  11. While I wish the back was higher, I do not find them as horrible as other folks do. mac_tlc
  12. Good morning from here: Yesterday was a sea day with a fair amount of sunshine. This morning, not so much. Arrival in Victoria is 5:30pm, all aboard 11:30pm. There was another Beyond the Podium talk about marine mammals and another today about Vancouver Island. We have enjoyed all of the ones we have attended. They add a great dimension to the trip. Captain Costas will speak at 10:15 this morning . That’s a “can’t miss” for us, we really enjoy the captain speaking events. Not much else planned for today, probably some trivia, casino donations and more Cafe alBacio! There is often chatter on CC about the terms of the Book on Board Book Later option. Bottom line, book a specific sailing within 6 months to retain OBC, book within 12 months to not lose your deposit. We will do one Book Later with one guest. Who knows, by tonight FOMO may attack me and I’ll do another😜. Good thing is the 6 month window will take us past the probable release date for the spring 2026 - Spring 2027 itineraries. We are fairly booked through April 2026 , of course I could probably squeeze in another ! mac_tlc
  13. Captain Costas is on the Edge now. mac_tlc
  14. Ok @Stem to Stern, here are four pictures of the SV that hopefully show how much is covered. First two are the sides. The entire metal side panels are under cover. The next two show the chairs and lounger. In the last one I positioned them so that the arms of the small chairs are completely under cover. I like the SV a lot, shade, sun, wake view. What’s not to like! Well, I will tell you ——— it’s 126 steps to the aft elevators and 243 steps to the front elevators. 😳😳😅
  15. The 2-bedroom Grand Suites on any Oasis class ship would fit the bill. Beat room we ever had was the 4-bedroom Villa Suite on Harmony of the Seas. Symphony of the Seas also has one. Those are the only two. Need a lot of friends and family though. Min of 8, max 14. If you can be lucky enough to get one of the two-bedroom Grand Suites on Oasis on deck 22, they have a hot tub on the balcony. Allure might also.
  16. I find the E-class to be quite the set of photogenic ladies. We changed the clocks forward an hour last night, so this morning very few were about when I took these pictures. And I think my favorite of this group….. sunrise at the Sunset Bar.
  17. The salmon was grilled on a very large outdoor grill, under one of the tents in the pictures. They had a sweet honey-based glaze that you could add. I had some both ways, preferred without the glaze.
  18. Thank you for your kind words…. Funny you mention soot. This morning I noticed a couple small specks on the balcony railing. Since the railing is white, it easier to spot. We have had no issues with it on anything else. Lounger, chairs, small table —- all clear. Regarding the overhang, I would say almost half of our balcony is covered. In fact I was sitting out there yesterday as it was raining, but I was dry! We are on deck 10. I do like some of it being covered. I’ll take some pictures to try and show the covered vs uncovered portions. mac_tlc
  19. No apology necessary! It’s always good to get other people’s views. Next time we are here (wait, did I just say “next time”?? 🤔🤔) I’m sure my son and DDIL will do a sled dog excursion. Depending on itinerary, the Endicott Arm excursion sounds great too!! Sorry to hear about the Covid situation, hopefully it was a mild case and all are getting better. mac_tlc
  20. Good morning from here: Yesterday we were in drizzly cloudy Skagway. We did the White Pass & Yukon Route Train up the mountain. It’s about a three hour round trip that climbs to a maximum elevation of 2,888’ . Since the dockside near the pier and train tracks, and since the Edge docks at the far end of the pier, you need to take a two minute shuttle from the ship to where the train now loads. Last time we did this train in 2006, it pulled up along side the ship and it was maybe 25 steps from ship to train. Now you cannot walk to the ship. The shuttle driver indicates that there is another outcropping of rock that they are concerned with. Sounded like it was a matter of “when” not “if”. The train ride really is spectacular and the pictures don’t due justice to the wide expanses of valleys and mountain and streams. That did not stop me from taking about 100 pictures, some through the window but many standing on the platform between the train cars. Here is a small sample: Everything needs to be maintained:: In the second picture, right above the top of that tall lonely spruce and is the Skagway waterfront where the ship is docked. After the train we had decided to seek out the Skagway Brewing Company for lunch. Judging by the crowds, so did many others😂. We had heard about their Halibut Fish and Chips and it was fabulous. Also had a couple of Spuce Tip Ales. The story of Spruce Tip Ale is interesting and goes to prove what I have always thought——- beer is a very medicinal beverage! I’ll give the detail later 😜😜.
