  1. I'd imagine the priority is that they want/need the cruise line functionality on the TVs to be readily available for all customers, and wouldn't want to have crew potentially faffing about because customers have been in changing settings/inputs etc.
  2. I'm glad I am generally just a social drinker. I can sink quite a few of an evening, but thankfully that'd generally mean I'd be put off the idea for a while (and most certainly the next day). So on P&O at least PAYG is a no-brainer for me.
  3. We've booked our first cruise with MSC for this October. I guess it's a case of trying it for yourself and seeing how it pans out. Luckily, as long as we don't sink. I know me and the better half will have a great time - things would have to be really really bad for our holiday to be spoiled.
  4. To some of us they start at silly sums 🙂
  5. I was on a transatlantic cruise when I proposed. I'd carted the ring round with me endlessly for days, and ended up choosing Copacabana beach, Barbados. Like you I wanted it to be private, but got spotted and acosted as walking past another couple 😂. The time might just present itself in similar fashion, so be ready and good luck. 👍
  6. Always find this question baffling. Once you're aware of the quirky restrictions, its really down to you as the individual to decide if it would be worth it or not. You know far better than us what you like to drink, what you might be capable of drinking etc. etc.
  7. Like with choosing a person, it's what's on the inside which is more important. 😉
  8. https://www.norwaysbest.com/things-to-do/fjords/fjord-cruise-geirangerfjord/ There's a link to the timetable on there - you'd probably have to catch the 9.30am outbound.
  9. Personally I don't get why so many get hung up about the turn down service. We had it on Iona in June, but it seems such an insignificant gesture to me - certainly nothing to get upset about.
  10. Pretty standard practice I'm afraid, and something you'll need to be wary of for next time. My pre-auths took a full 30 days to drop off with Chase from June (debit card in this case) - though that can vary by bank.
  11. On the plus side, if there's a best port to choose to miss, Haugesund is certainly it.
  12. Last week, we got to Hellesylt around 08.00 I think, and back on board time was 16.00. Outbound ferry was 09.30, 12.30, 15.30, and return 11.00, 14.00, 17.00 (there is a website: https://www.norwaysbest.com/things-to-do/fjords/fjord-cruise-geirangerfjord/ ), so your only option was to get the 9.30 ferry out, and 14.00 ferry back, for around just over 3 hours out in Geiranger. Stavanger sommat like 09.00 to 16.30, Haugesund 07.00 to 17.30 I think and Olden can't recall atm. We did the Loen skylift booking from Olden tourist office, expensive at £70 each (for three, shuttle bus is a crafty markup considering not far to travel lol), but that still saved £19pp than with P&O. Worth it if good weather though.
  13. I don't know for sure, as we only had 3 of us in the one room. However, FYI, we were able to select our individual names for the restaurants (and the theatre), so hopefully the webpage will be coded so that it'll expand the name options to include those from your linked bookings.
  14. We've just come off Iona on Saturday. Sure, we found things not quite to our preference in some areas, but luckily we are a couple who take them for what they generally always are - minor niggles - and we certainly didn't allow them to spoil our holiday in any way, shape or form (and never do). We enjoyed not being at work (of course 😊), the ship, the itinerary, the weather, the food, and had a fantastic holiday - and would do it all again tomorrow given the chance! 😊 Probably the worst thing for us was choosing to watch the magic duo, who we personally thought were poor lol, but even that just became an opportunity to laugh about how bad we felt they were.
  15. If the emergency was for you or yours, I'd be darn sure you'd be hoping everyone who needed to hear it would hear it!
