  1. Let me second the recommendation of the Rembrandt House. Rembrandt was a very successful artist not only for the quality of his work but also financially. But he was even better at spending money. 🤣 And went bankrupt. 😒 The Dutch, being very good bookkeepers, were able to reconstruct his house the way it was before the bankruptcy.
  2. I do not think you can get to and if you get there back from Machu Picchu with the present situation. Truly a shame, as it is an incredible place to visit. (We were there on an escorted land trip in 2019.)
  3. 🤣, I guess you cannot use the strategy of not paying your account to make your cruise become back to back. When we were in Jamaica for our 20th anniversary way back in the 20th century, there was a tax to leave. The lady in line ahead of us to pay the tax, said she had spent all her money and could not pay the small tax. They did NOT make her stay.
  4. I guess my question is how did Canada allow you into Canada without showing a passport.
  5. Thanks for this review, Sid. It was the first I ever read one of your reviews, and I am sorry I missed the previous ones. As I said it in my first post in this thread, I joined because we will be on the Prima this summer. We are very different. Not solo as we will celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary on the cruise. Neither of us is a drinker of a foodie, but I still learned so much from your review, and enjoyed it immensely. Thank you again, and may you have a safe trip home.
  6. As Jackie Gleason used to say "And away we go.". I thought after the airlines have cut down on the number of flights, planes were pretty much flying full these days. Did you book your airfare yourself, or did you use an NCL offer?
  7. How did you get on the train? I remember when we did that excursion, we had to show our passports to be allowed to board.
  8. And what, my friend, is your responsibility in this situation? I know you consider the main part of your job getting the passengers aboard if at all possible, but would you be required to bring this to the attention of the cruise line, or do you leave it to them? Do you say anything to the passenger that there might be a problem once on the ship of having the 2 rooms instead of just 1?
  9. With the screen name Sugar Magnolia, I would think you would cue up the Grateful Dead. "You're my woman now, make yourself easy."
  10. We have had dancing lessons on ships, so they exist, or at least did. Ok, if you don't do the main dining room. Actually, DW really prefers eating in the buffet. She gets tired of people serving her. Also, she says she just likes to make her own salads. On our very first cruise, by the end she said she just wanted peanut butter and jelly. I am not a foodie, but compared to her 🤦‍♂️
  11. The experienced mariners on the cc boards think they took the SAFER way.
  12. We also book for itinerary, and have a Prima cruise booked this summer from London (Southampton) to Reykjavik. We are also not foodies or drinkers. In fact DW once freaked out a waiter on a cruise line who could not believe what he was hearing when she ordered a baked potato as her main course.
  13. As entertaining as Sid was, he did invite questions but the never really answered them. So, here is a question I posted early in his thread. Was there in the activities dance lessons (DW loves them), and were there opportunities to dance? Also, he never really got into the main dining room. If you eat there, please comment. TIA.
  14. Yes, he does seem to be one of a kind. 🤣🤣 But also looking forward to another perspective.
  15. Looking forward to your review as we will sail in August. Be yourself, don't try to be Sid. 🤣
  16. Cash is king along with the positive write-ups that can help them get promotions.
  17. Only one more day? How are we all going to occupy our time without this thread to follow? 🤦‍♂️ When is your next cruise planned?
  18. You dropped your phone into a margarita, and it had to dry out first before it worked again with wi-fi.
  19. My DW drinks decaf, and often she has to wait because they have to make a fresh pot.
  20. Is there easy transportation between Zeebrugge and Bruges, or do you really need an excursion? (We are on an NCL ship in August that makes this stop.)
  21. I believe the ship initially gets fined, but then after an appeal the fine is waived in this type of circumstance.
  22. Another way of finding excursions, private ones, if to participate in your roll call and see if anyone has booked a private excursion and is looking for others to join them.
  23. Could be. maybe he meant he took care of it with the airline and that set it up for the rest of the trip.
