  1. I believe if you enable WiFi calling it also enables WiFi texting, it allows you to text while connected to WiFi if there's a weak cell signal.
  2. I'm not sure how airports overseas work, but in the US baggage claim is typically outside the secure area so you should have no issue getting there without a ticket for that day. If that airport serves NO domestic flights and the baggage claim is strictly inside the customs/immigration area, then the NCL rep will be somewhere in the passenger pickup area where buses would be picking people up.
  3. Do you have WiFi texting with your carrier? The same way as that. Apple's messaging app will work over data, if it's using the iMessage protocol (or whatever they call it now), but if you're sending an SMS you need to be sure that WiFi texting is enabled.
  4. and, for what it's worth, I seem to recall getting messages on my Android phone while on the ship, from people not on the ship. Something to keep in mind with these 'loopholes' - as Starlink is rolled out across the fleet the changes in the network configuration MAY cause them to get closed. Yes, it should just be a change in the 'backhaul' internet connection and not a change to the routers, but there's a chance.
  5. You do it once on board. You can't do it until you connect to the ship's WiFi.
  6. There's a marathon. I've seen discussion about it related to my January 27 cruise from Miami but never looked deeper into it. The traffic for cruising because of THAT can't be nearly as bad as the traffic for cruising on the 27th - Norwegian Bliss, MSC Seascape, Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Magic and the new Icon of the Seas (inaugural revenue sailing) are all embarking that day. The port will be a MADHOUSE! The 28th looks almost as bad!!
  7. See... we're on the same page, I made this exact suggestion back on page 1 but the OP complained that they shouldn't have to check the work of the agent.
  8. OP hasn't said, but maybe the rep booked them a 'sailaway' cabin when they did the upgrade instead of booking the fare with FAS...
  9. But getting a FAS cabin is more than just paying the grats/service charges for the drinks and dining package, the cabin itself often costs more...
  10. I had some things I liked about Royal. There were also some things I didn't like, but some of that was probably due to the number of kids on board since it was a school vacation week (why it was booked since my brother and his wife with their school-age kids were 'driving the bus' on the trip). I have absolutely enjoyed my 4 cruises on NCL since those first 2 on Royal. As a solo traveler, the program NCL puts together for us is amazing!
  11. The other benefit to this is when you pre-book if you book the fixed-price places first the system won't try to charge you to book the other meals.
  12. They used to offer an option to grant this reasonable request, and charged for it. But, when the airlines had difficulty meeting their obligations to to get ticketed passengers to where they wanted to go NCL also had trouble accommodating those requests and dropped the option to link reservations for the purposes of booking airfare.
  13. This is true. I can pack the food away usually and even I have a hard time finishing everything if I get all 4 courses.
  14. can of worms... opened. Discussed here, A LOT. Some have been allowed one from each menu section (4 courses) some have been restricted to one from either app or soup/salad section (3 courses). If you want additional, yes you pay for it.
  15. and then you waited how long to look at your confirmation to confirm everything was right? I've made changes to my existing booking, including one change on the phone with a rep, and had an email with the new invoice within seconds. You could have reviewed that while on the phone with the rep and called it to their attention that what they said was NOT the case.
  16. If the stereo is on the order sheet, paid for but was not put in the car, I won't argue with that. You didn't pay for the things you're asking for...
  17. So the rep ticked the wrong box and now you want them to give you what you thought you were asking for and may have paid for if presented the cost at the time but not charge you for it?
  18. Because for a sailing in March the final payment was due in November. @Adam Packett sooo, let me get this straight - you want the Free At Sea, and since NCL hasn't charged you for it with the new room you want to get it at no additional cost anyway? I won't argue that the rep messed up, but had they presented the cost of the suite WITH free at sea would you have done the upgrade?

  20. There's no way to know for sure. NCL has 21 menus the head chef can choose from for any particular cruise. You can't know for certain which menus will be selected for which days.
  21. NCL should be docking at Taino Bay. Amber Cove was built by Carnival so their ships get preference there.
  22. 2 additional meals per person. FAS meals are NOT transferrable. Assuming a balcony on a 7 night cruise, each of passengers 1 and 2 get 4 meals. As noted, FAS credits are not transferrable, you can't take your kids to Teppanyaki and 'pay' for them using your dining plan.
  23. I came back to this thread to post this same information! Full house at Miami today, I guess NCL had to rent V from Virgin so the Sky could dock...
  24. in fact, it's lacked such automation that the people at the Shore Excursions desk had to MANUALLY calculate the price of the excursion after the Latitudes discount and override the pricing to grant the discount!
