  1. Yes, you can book all the a-la-carte restaurants you want to prior to the cruise, there is no charge for them until you dine. If you want the additional one cancelled just call the main customer service number, it should take the agent about 30 seconds to remove the extra once they verify. Some take advantage of that to hold down several reservation slots so they can decide later what they want to keep (once they figure out entertainment timing). If you want to be sure it's done right you can always just wait until you board and cancel at the reservations table on embarkation day or at the entrance to the restaurant when someone is stationed there.
  2. and, as I said, there is ZERO reason to stress about adjusting the reservation to 1. The table size is the same - just book for two (except at Teppanyaki) and enjoy your vacation, just show up by yourself when it's time for dinner...
  3. Just more proof that you don't read and understand the T&C's for yourself. Right from here: https://www.ncl.com/about/terms-and-conditions/promotions#cruisenext CND(s) are refundable only within 30 days of purchase, in the amount paid minus the amount of the instant shipboard credit (listed as Non-Refundable Onboard Credit) received. A CND can only be applied to a new reservation and otherwise has no cash value and is not redeemable or exchangeable for cash. CND(s) are transferable to another guest at no charge. Once transferred, new CND owner is subject to all CND terms and conditions. Original CND owner forfeits rights of ownership once transfer has been completed.
  4. @yakcruiser I think the OP wanted to cancel the CND purchase, not the cruise booking.
  5. 4 cruises, amounting to almost a year on board? Double-up offers are not always in place. At the time you asked there may well have been a double-up offer in place where you could book any room on any cruise and use two certificates. The standard T&C's are available on NCL's website, it pays to understand them and ask the question if what you're being told is a current special with an expiration or something that is running all the time. The current offer is you can use two CND's if you book balcony or above at least 4 months in advance. Lying? The question was probably answered accurately for the offer in place at the time the presentation was made and the question was asked.
  6. Other than Teppanyaki it makes literally ZERO difference to change a 2-top reservation for a solo. You're getting exactly the same table when you get seated. The same is the case for any odd-numbered parties - book the next-higher number to get the size table you need.
  7. ncl.com Click 'Explore' in the menu at the top, select 'Cruise Ships'. There's a drop-down to select the ship. Deck plans are linked on that page, down with the staterooms section.
  8. I counted 30 BT (Solo Balcony) cabins on the Breakaway. That's ~2.5x as many Studio Balcony cabins as on Royal's Quantum class ships, which have 12 if I recall. NCL's are also in better locations than the deck 6 where Royal's are. Add in the Solo inside, Solo OV and Studio cabins and there are a LOT of options for solo cruisers. Now, if they could only get the pricing sorted out. Looking at my upcoming 15 day PC cruise on the Bliss - a Solo Balcony is around $5300, a regular balcony as a solo is only $2800...
  9. NCL's press release on this - https://www.ncl.com/newsroom/norwegian-cruise-line-announces-fleetwide-expansion-of-its-solo-stateroom-category
  10. I had a feeling that's what you meant @FredZiffle but I didn't want others to be confused...
  11. Unless you're sailing with people besides your wife (meaning booking all of you in one room would add guests 3 and 4), booking you and your wife in your own cabins adds nothing for the FAS meals.
  12. Less than 10 posts above yours, less than a month ago...
  13. The counterpoint is that NCL doesn't give you an itemized breakdown of the port taxes and fees - you don't know what portion of that is for which port. I've been on cruises where NCL DID refund something if we missed a port. Again - if they over estimated the number of passengers that would be on board they UNDER estimated your portion of the port fees and taxes. If a port is missed in that case then you would likely not get a refund of port fees and taxes.
  14. Hmm, this is a little confusing...
  15. Oh, this cabin class has access to the Studio area?! That might be worth booking!!
  16. Interesting that NCL is classing regular balcony cabins as 'solo balcony', but I'll take it. Hopefully there will be slightly reduced pricing for it. I'd certainly try the BA or GA if they're only on those ships. This is a cabin class that only Royal and Celebrity have had, with actually reduced cabin sizes but SUPER high prices as they sell out within a couple months of the release of the cruise. Royal's Quantum-class ships only have a dozen or so solo balcony cabins. Edit - I just counted 28 of these on the BA!!
  17. Jack Gow!! I thought he was a GREAT CD when I cruised on the Escape in March!! He had so much energy, I have no idea how he does it, of course I AM almost 20 years his senior!), how he could dance for the first 45 minutes of the Glow Party I have no idea. You had a blast, but - did you win anything?!
  18. If it is I wouldn't expect any major enhancements or redesigns, the ship had a major refurbishment in 2018.
  19. or... maybe they ARE being read. Yes, 'mature' cruisers are a huge revenue pool, but those cruisers will 'age out' of traveling and they'll need new 'mature' cruisers. Those people are the current younger crowd, and maybe this is a way they can draw them in and get them hooked on the brand?
  20. NCL has had some software issues recently, several people have reported a 'balance due' when trying to check in. That usually happens when they do back-end updates as they did last weekend. I don't think you really owed that money. Once you book, your price is locked in, even if it goes up before final payment.
  21. Those tours often have a "not for flights after..." some time. If it's available on your trip be sure that your flight is after that time.
  22. Large 3rd-party sites will have a block of rooms they can sell, which will not be in NCL inventory to sell direct. Somewhat related - I booked my upcoming cruise through a PCC. Why? The price NCL offered was a guarantee cabin at the same price the 3rd-party was offering for a deck 5 cabin, other decks would have cost significantly more. Could I have saved a little bit overall by booking through the 3rd party and getting their offer of free grats? Yup, but my direct booking will probably end up with a cabin that would have cost at least that much more through the 3rd party.
  23. There are traveling groups for shows all the time. Lion King recently had a run in the city where I work, but they didn't bring the show up from Broadway. Also - the performers on the ship don't always change out at the same time, so the lead could possibly be going to a traveling group when his contract on the ship is up.
  24. The next task is just hoping the ship makes the second port call. No port is 100% guaranteed - there could be an accident in the port that closes it for the day, high winds could kick up causing the crew to decide not to dock or some other reason like a mechanical issue with the ship that makes it unsafe to dock until it's resolved. It's a risk you take when doing that..
  25. Something else to consider is that maybe fees for other ports increased or were higher than estimated (remember that the cruise line ESTIMATES the port fees and taxes based on previous cruises and planned occupancy of the ship) and the fees from the missed port then covered those increases. I've been on an NCL cruise where I was refunded fees from a missed port and also on another cruise where I got a random OBC because they over-estimated port fees and taxes per person. I didn't expect the latter - I certainly wouldn't expect a random charge against my account if they UNDER estimated those fees...
