  1. They used to offer the ability to link reservations for this purpose, called the 'travel with guarantee', but over the summer this option was removed as there were significant airline industry challenges that caused them to be unable to meet those guarantees. It certainly was nice while it lasted - I even made use of it in 2019 before they started charging for it!
  2. Unless you have WiFi texting enabled as I do (on an Android)
  3. Thanks for your excellent insight, now twice in this thread. It's really not necessary to even have them printed in color, as noted by several people commenting before you. The OP has even said that they have a color printer...
  4. Just pointing out that (though not in this case as I happened to be browsing the forums at the time) sometimes answers can be found much quicker with a little searching elsewhere instead of waiting for someone to respond to your question.
  5. The dailies posted in this thread (found through a search in the forum) indicate it is -
  6. There's this website called Google... 🤣😇 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_identification_system No, that wasn't the first result on a search for 'AIS' (on a US Google search anyway), but it's the first one that makes sense in this context...
  7. CND's are valid for 4 years from purchase. They SAY "book and sail within 4 years", but as long as you book before 4 years they will often do a one-time extension up to a year to cover the sailing.
  8. I don't have a color printer (Brother laser printer), in 3 NCL cruises I haven't had an issue with luggage delivery.
  9. Dining reservations open to all at 120 days. Status and cabin type can change that to as early as 130 days (some at 130, some at 125).
  10. I noticed that the 'number of passengers' filter has been moved up to be more prominent. As a solo cruiser I always need to find that so I can get an accurate price for me, and I'm glad NCL puts that up front rather than hiding at the last step before selecting a stateroom type like Royal does.
  11. Sure, if he'll let you Yes Just don't go to logon.com and log in to your internet plan before browsing CC. I don't think the performance is all that great though...
  12. Deviations need to be requested 75 or more days before the cruise, it's in the T&C's of the promo (that you probably didn't read). It's not that changes can't be made, it's that you were no longer in the time frame where the changes could be made, especially if the flights were ticketed. I'm SHOCKED that you got that refunded! Usually once the airfare is ticketed (inside that 75-day window for the freeze on changes) you're stuck with those flights. I agree with @cc-riderslc and @njkate - NCL gets 'bulk' tickets, they don't pay 'rack rate'. If the airline sets aside only a certain number of those types of tickets per flight and you got the last couple, they then can't put your friends on the same flight.
  13. Yup, that's what it said on the page I linked when I looked at it. Amazing how that works, isn't it?
  14. I just watched a video from an avid Princess cruiser that is currently sailing on an NCL ship. He said he enjoyed both the included venues and the specialty, had no complaints. He even said the buffet was good. He's on the Breakaway.
  15. Never a bad idea. I would NEVER put meds in checked luggage, even getting on the ship. Even for a non-stop flight (I'll be on one in March for my cruise, also to MCO as the OP is), I plan to check a bag but I also plan to bring a small duffel for a second carry-on (in addition to the one under the seat with my tablet and other misc. stuff) that will have my overnight stuff for my pre-cruise hotel stay and my clothes for embarkation day.
  16. The Ports Of call section has forum sections for each - https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/456-caribbean/
  17. Take a look at https://www.ncl.com/cruisenext Under the header "Booking with CruiseNext deposits" is a blue banner advertising the special and has a button to go look for cruises. There's really no seeking out the particular cruises it seems - book by the deadline for a cruise at least 4 months in the future and you should be able to use two deposits.
  18. That thread is discussion of crew/staff fleet-wide and what ships they're on. The person I was replying to was asking where a particular person was in the fleet. That picture may not have even been from the Joy, I was just suggesting to that person that maybe that thread would be a better place to ask about a specific crew/staff member.
  19. You might find info here, or you can ask here -
  20. Regarding using a TA or booking direct - If you have a GOOD TA, it's more than just ease of booking and discounts. The TA my parents use always has info available to her about her customers that are currently traveling. That way, if something happens (flight issues, something happens to the guest, whatever) she can jump to action to help them fix issues with things she booked for them. If you book on your own you're 'stuck' doing that leg-work, possibly while under stress or with limited connectivity (such as on a ship with poor internet). I take a risk on those aspects and have just been booking myself. I've tried to book with a couple different TA's but it seems nobody really wanted my business even though it would have been an easy booking as I already knew what I wanted.
  21. I think most of the major credit card banks allow you to report them lost through the app now.
  22. The Cruise Critic roll calls haven't, and anyone arranging a M&G under the guise of it being a CC roll call but it was organized on SM is doing so outside of guidelines. The cruise lines (or NCL anyway) have done some pretty nice M&G's for CC folks with finger foods and such. I wonder if those folks are arranging them on SM and somehow getting the perks of CC by claiming it was arranged here...
  23. I did, and have been participating. Please read what I quoted. The person I quoted seemed to indicate different from what you and I believe to be the case.
  24. Oh, so you only get one free-at-sea meal, then? For some reason the system doesn't account for the Latitudes melas, but they also aren't pre-loaded on your card - they're actual paper vouchers left in your cabin.
