  1. Maybe not in the steerage cabins and I think the higher you go the better the quality. But ----- you should still BYO.
  2. Nice presentation but a lot of waste.
  3. It should be noted that "gratuities" can be adjusted or eliminated altogether once aboard.
  4. As soon as folks figure out that Chef's Table is no great shakes reservations will become much easier to obtain.
  5. There was a pretty talented illusionist on our last cruise for a couple of nights. If you are looking for more elaborate "production" type entertainment you are on the wrong boat.
  6. "No extra charge" might be a better way of putting it.
  7. Maybe you miseed the "as well" part - directed to OP.
  8. As well, many here are not fans of paying in full a year before.
  9. Well done minus cheese = roast bef sandwich.
  10. I probably should have included Malbork on my list.
  11. The guide on the Roskilde had the driver take the "scenic route" through the countryside. We visited a small village with a beautiful little church and grounds. The quality of the guide is always a huge factor and can be hit/miss.
  12. No brainers: Vasa Museum in Stockholm - easily done on your own. Roskilde out of Copenhagen. Fjord cruise (Pulpit Rock) out of Stavanger - book Rodne for 1/3 of what Viking wants. Flam RR out of Eidfjord. These choices were all made based on much research here and elsewhere.
  13. On our Homelands between Stockholm and Gdansk (Mariehamn was skipped) the ship reversed course and did a big circle like a plane in an elongated holding pattern. Clearly killing time/delaying arrival. Didn't strike me as efficient.
  14. I think you stand a pretty good chance of having more than only one sea day.
  15. We did spend a couple of hours doing "twirls" (practice?) just beyond the mouth of the port at Gdansk. Ship was clearly in no hurry.
  16. That's how it was for us. Then we just sailed around the island because it was "too windy" to enter the port.
  17. More paper ----- just what the planet needs.
  18. Two things (at least) can be said about Viking's payment policy: 1. Nobody likes it. 2. Viking doesn't care (because they get away with it).
  19. Yeah ----- we're going that route again next cruise.
  20. Never availed ourselves of pressing or shoeshine but the "free" laundry in PS category was very welcome. Being able to get around the bed without bruising one's self was also nice. The best part was the extra room/TV so you could relax and not have to lie on the bed and crane your neck. Close second was the extra space in the bathroom/shower. Everything just "nicer" all 'round. Whether worth the extra $$$ is a personal thing but hard to be kept down on the farm after seeing Paree.
  21. Pool grill is tough to beat, but so is WC. Flip a coin.
  22. The price on a "pay as you go" basis is finite and known. Price per drink with the package varies and is unknown.
  23. "The package also gives you access to upgrade wines by the glass during lunch and dinner." The same access you would have without the package.
