  1. I don't think my kids or my father ever found that to be much of a problem, especially my kids. They even had bartenders that got to know them and would already be getting them a soda when they saw them coming towards the bar. My son when younger liked to find places he could hide out, bartenders and servers always knew where he was if we happened to come around looking for him.
  2. I have occasionally gotten a payment reminder email, quite a while before the payment was actually due. I just really think they are system generated in hopes that some people will just go ahead and pay before final payment is due. You can also log into your Carnival account and you will see there as well when final payments are needed to be done for each cruise you have booked.
  3. We have enjoyed the Alchemy Bar, but also the Pig and Anchor bar as well. On the Horizon we found the Pig and Anchor to be better and not as crowded. As for the Magic, their Alchemy Bar was terrible. Staff didn't want to make anything that wasn't on the menu, they had one person who would, but you could almost never even get their attention. One of my favorite drinks is a Sidecar, so I am hoping that the one at the Golden Jubilee turns out to be pretty good. We shall find out in February.
  4. Enjoyed following along, did you not try any of the other bars beside Alchemy? Hoping that the golden jubilee and pig and anchor have some good staff and drinks as well.
  5. I see it says included with bottomless bubbles, does it include those with the cheers package as well?
  6. Does anyone have a comparison of how the value plan compares to the premium? We will be trying to download shows ahead of time for my grandson but wondered if we found we wanted to download more will the value plan allow it? Thinking like paramount plus, disney plus, netflix?
  7. Congrats, I didn't think our offers for February to move up were all that great. Though I feel like once we decline an offer we don't get another.
  8. I haven't found any sweet spot with the slots on Carnival. I am sure I dont play enough, but even trying to play machines on max bet I never seem to hit anything decent. The most I ever managed was like 400 on the Magic on a single spin. I get rather discouraged and not into dropping more money in the casino. Guess I am just not a true gambler I suppose.
  9. Disappointed to hear about Chibang. Truly one of the restaurants I was looking forward to trying in February. Hopefully things will get better. As for the cabin service we pretty much tell the steward whenever they get to it is fine. Though I have almost always found them to leave dishes and glasses unless we put then outside. I have had a steward leave glasses for days. I think they are advised not to touch unless you set outside the door.
  10. I will also need to meet these Nicolai's at the Alchemy Bar, looks like they do some nice drinks.
  11. Loved seeing Hotel Milano there in San Juan, we stayed there many years ago before a cruise on the Pride. We always go see the kitties at the fort.
  12. I tend to find I can do 5 or 6 cocktails, a couple sodas and a water and I have reach what it takes daily for the drink package. My husband on the other hand, has been know to order shots of scotch which have been $18 each, so he clearly reaches the limit before I do. He can do two shots of scotch, one bloody mary, one drink from the alchemy bar, and some ginger-ale and only be at 4 drinks for the day.
  13. Diamond status, but I believe I have also seen white for anyone reaching a milestone. For instance their 25th 50th cruises with Carnival. Though I think those cards will also state milestone on them?
  14. Loving your review, can't wait until it is our turn in February. Just wish it wasn't so far away.
  15. Many years ago, Carnival did include the cup with the soda package. But I am thinking that was more like 8-10 years now. Having to think of when my son went and had gotten the soda package, and was given the cup. Now it seems to be something you can pay extra for.
  16. Thanks for the Golden Jubilee menu, I am hoping that whoever is there makes the Golden Sidecar well. A sidecar is one of my favs. Can't wait until February. However for reference in the info from Zydecocruiser I found the Golden Jubilee menu under his links for Sea Day 3 https://zydecocruiser.net/CarnivalCelebrationTA/08_SeaDay3/index.html
  17. Looking at an older article about the Global Dream when it was announced, the 9000 was a number with full out maxed occupancy. Seemed to indicate with 2 per cabin, it had occupancy of 5000, as there were 2500 cabins. The question then becomes is Disney estimating 6000 as full capacity, or occupancy roughly based on 2 per cabin? Another article indicated anywhere from 4700-9500 passengers, yet mentioned only 2200 crew members. That seems like a terrible passenger to staff ratio.
  18. I am not saying it wasn't profitable, but maybe not feasible in terms of profit? Again if they made $100 per bottle profit, but only sold 30 bottles per cruise then it might not have been as much profit as was necessary to continue the practice. My guess is not enough people bought the bottles which is why it went away.
  19. Interesting as I have gotten canned drinks from the bars with cheers and the drinks promo from the casino.
  20. I would imagine that while many feel it was a revenue stream for Carnival, perhaps it really was not? Does anyone actually know how many cabins or bottles of liquor were sold to be consumed in the cabin? My guess is no one does other than Carnival. It is entirely possibly that maybe they were only selling 20 bottles on a cruise with thousands of people, who knows. My guess is if had been a huge profit maker then then wouldn't have just completely gotten rid of it. I would say they probably evaluated what they were selling and determined the expense etc wasn't worth it to offer. I can say with 36 cruises I have never ordered liquor for my cabin.
  21. I found the one time I had drinks on us in the casino, I opted to choose a machine closer to the bar, where I could flag a server a bit more easily. Though this was on the Magic and I found I had better luck catching a server at the non-smoking casino, rather than the larger main casino.
  22. No, I have pretty much had a balcony as often as I have had an inside cabin. I can't say I overly looked at which side, but more so to what is above and below or just nearby.
  23. I have sailed on Carnival, MSC, Disney, Royal, NCL, Princess. Personally I find they all have had their flaws and differences. Food I have found on Royal and NCL are not any better in the dining room than Carnival is, and I feel like they are trying to get you to their specialty restaurants instead. Which on Royal last 3 cruises we paid for the dining package to do the specialty restaurants instead. I have found I have gotten better bar service on Carnival than the other lines. We got to know bartenders on Carnival, but never really did except on one Royal Cruise (the Anthem) and MSC, and once on NCL. Sadly I am finding them to be way more similar, just the others seem to cost a lot more. I am drawn to Royal only when I can find a really good deal on their pricing. Disney however I only manage to do a cruise randomly and two of them were Transatlantic cruises. Hands down best service ever has been my Disney Transatlantic ages ago. Some of the cutbacks really don't bother me all that much, unless the prices keep increasing. For now I am still managing to find pretty reasonable costing cruises with Carnival and in doing so continue to sail with them.
  24. My husband hopes for that as well. He doesn't like the slot tournaments, and so then is a benefit he doesn't really partake of.
