  1. View out a porthole on deck 4 during a hurricane. That's completely underwater.
  2. On every ship I've been on, the captain makes daily announcements. Those would be announcements that are often missed, as they can only be heard in the hallways or on the TV station. Which is why I questioned whether or not there might have been announcements, just not heard by the OP.
  3. LOL I was suggesting that YOU post to your roll call. Anybody that's joined would be notified that someone had commented. As to Juneau, had a similar situation last year, only we stayed overnight in Juneau, skipped Skagway. Another NCL ship (Bliss) was due to dock but they stayed out at sea I believe. As to another ship, yes, there was another ship scheduled in Juneau, it's possible you were at "their" dock guessing you were docked in town, as you were the only ship scheduled on the day you were there. As to leaving, sometimes based on weather the captain will choose to take a wide path around the storm which would mean a longer route and/or slower speed to help mitigate the effects of the rough water. So staying put could easily mean you don't get back to Seattle on time. Years ago I was on a ship during a hurricane. We skipped our first port in Mexico and went way out to sea in order to avoid as much as possible. Ship had to keep moving in order to make our other ports. In Italy we knew we couldn't dock because of weather - the captain negotiated a new location and we were able to resurrect, more or less, the lost port. So no, it's not because they don't want to pay port fees.
  4. You might not lose your bonus points, not sure how sophisticated that system is. Your qualified purchases were registered, they should just remove points associated with the refund. Hopefully that's how it will work.
  5. If you want to hear from those on your cruise, I suggest you look to your rollcall NCL SUN Roll Call October 2 - October 11 - Norwegian Sun Roll Calls - Cruise Critic Community
  6. Guess my reading comprehension isn't what it used to be - haven't seen a single answer here that confirms that NCL isn't consistent. Actually pretty much confirmed that, other than paying administrative fees in the UK, price drops and upgrades are handled the same as in the US. But that's your story and you're sticking to it.... Now to call my PCC for a price adjustment, since the prices just went down on my cruise that's still before final payment.
  7. The $750 - and points earned -for your CNs won't be refunded because you keep those, use them later. However, if there are refunds to your card because you also made payments to NCL for the cruise you will lose any points for those payments. Same as would happen with any card that gives you points. However, hard to say what happens if you use them before any refunds hit your account. I would assume your points balance would go negative and any future points earned would be used to offset that balance.
  8. Not my point. Difference is whether or not you are before or after final payment. Your experience was before final payment, I believe OP is after final payment. Looking into possible compensation after final payment is a courtesy, not an absolute.
  9. I think you misunderstood my comment. Prior to final payment, they can adjust the pricing, so you pay less. After final payment, they might give you FCC (No OBC in the US anyway) or an upgrade. 2 completely different ways to make adjustments, depending on when the price drops.
  10. And you know for sure that they didn't? They aren't going to make an in-cabin announcement in the middle of the night unless it's an emergency. Wake you up to tell you what is already obvious. And unless you are in the hallway or have your TV on the communication channel, with the volume up, it's very easy to miss announcements. If they were expecting rough seas, they also might have mentioned it during the daily captain's update. And there are such things as rogue waves that nobody sees coming, plus it's not like they can tell you to return to your seats and fasten your seatbelt which is why they warn you, if possible, on a plane.
  11. Huge difference in how a price drop is handled before final due date and a price drop after. My comments are assuming OP is referring to a drop after final payment.
  12. And my answer is that, as far as I can tell, they ARE firm in their handling of such situations. Although you insist that the internet is full of examples, I'm not personally aware of any discussions regarding price drop policy in the UK, so can't speak to that. Yes, in the past it did seem to be up to the person you spoke to but they implemented a uniform policy, sometime spring/summer of 2022 if I recall correctly, that has been posted here and there by a TA or 2. And when push comes to shove, it is usually revealed that they did adhere to that policy. With a few modifications, such as 100% FCC now vs 50% initially. OBC in pricing situation hasn't been given for years, might want to check the dates on the stories you refer to. Sure, I was able to upgrade for free on my last cruise before the shutdown. But things have changed...
  13. Yea, I've got a lot to say to Air Canada and United from my last trip - ended up sleeping at SeaTac because I missed my rescheduled flight AND my luggage didn't get rerouted correctly. Not expecting much but their service was awful!
  14. I often use the NCL airfare promo but booked my own flights for Seward/Vancouver recently. I had a $200 voucher from United from a delay on a different trip (using NCL airfare) - so I used that, plus points, to book Alaska instead of BOGO, which wasn't much of a savings anyway, since I was only flying from Seattle. Just got back from another trip and SW (using BOGO) gave me $100 for the inconvenience when my flight was delayed (didn't really affect my trip but I'll take it!). So my BOGO airfare has been paying off in unexpected ways!
  15. Playing silly games? First off, they owe you nothing, once you've accepted the final contract. And as far as I know, "similar" situations get similar results. UK bookings follow different rules than US, I'm only familiar with the policy for US bookings. Price drop means that there is an equal stateroom currently available, with the same perks, at a lower price. So if you booked with an airfare deal for example, they consider the CURRENT price of the airfare, as well as the price of the cabin. In most cases, your deal with airfare was better.
  16. My guess is that, since you are always able to cancel and rebook prior to 120 days (USA bookings) that anything prior to that date is still considered a new/pending reservation, any payments up until the final due date are simply deposits. And I've "pulled it off" dozens of times, just go to my account and made a payment using a certificate.
  17. It depends on the type of OBC. Nonrefundable (usually comes from NCL) can't be used in the casino. OBC that comes from a 3rd party and has been purchased is usually refundable, no need to go to the casino, you can cash out at guest services at the end of your cruise.
  18. Usually 48 hours before arrival to the port. In rare instances, the cancellation policy may be different but the terms were clear in the website description. Refunds are to your onboard account, not to your original CC. If a refund results in a positive balance to your account you must go to guest services to get the cash before you disembark.
  19. I always use Seattle Cruise Park - they'll drop you off/pick you up from either port, if they are different. Never had a long wait for the shuttle so it's worked well for me.
  20. Yea, they did a pier 91 disembark last year on the Spirit. And they didn't bother to tell anyone. I found out through my roll call - that person found out when they were making parking reservations. I actually called NCL and told them they should let people know - they were clueless. I even went to guest services when I got onboard and said they should let people know...crickets again. But they did say Pier 91 in the "you'll be leaving soon" flyer that you get toward the end of the cruise that we'd be at pier 91. Not that people who aren't familiar with Seattle would know that Pier 91 in red meant that they will be arriving to a different pier. I was lucky that my parking arrangements weren't at pier 66 - and they service both piers, so I didn't have an issue but would have been more than just a little irate if I'd parked my car near the NCL terminal!
  21. Hotels and transport are included. Some meals may be included but best to plan on having a meal budget. In some instances, they may offer additional activities that you would have to pay for. We had options for rafting or a helicopter trip for example.
  22. NCl credit card points won't do you any good in that situation, other than cashing them in for statement credit. Points are only used for upgrades inside to OV or OV to balcony. As to cost, you'd have to do a mock booking on the website to see current prices for the cabins you are interested in booking. Since you are past final payment, only NCL can really tell you what the upgrade cost would be.
  23. Once at a Q&A session with the captain the subject of pier runners came up. His response was, first and foremost, call the port agent and let them know the situation. It's up to the captain to decide what to do. That particular captain said he'd wait if he could but it's not always an option. There might be issues with port traffic, tides or time required to make the next port. Obviously only the captain knows why they left when they did, or why some people arrived later than others. It's entirely possible that the port pulled the gangways and the ship had no choice. In Mexico people hire water taxis and meet the ship away from the docks when they're late!
  24. I thnk I know what you mean, NCL has had them as magnets and/or ornaments, can't speak for the current inventory on the Breakaway. I was just on the Sky and they only had the ornaments, no magnets (which is what I've been collecting). When I asked they said that they've been asking for them for months, so it's possible that they are being phased out. Good luck.
  25. Gosh, silly me to get it all wrong - NOT. I do know the difference between a short cruise and a longer one. And I do read the terms and conditions. For your reading pleasure: Have I been on a 5-day cruise and gotten $50 OBC - yep. Have I been on a longer cruise as a solo and paid full price and gotten $100 OBC - yep Have I been on a longer cruise as a solo with a reduced solo supplement and gotten $100 OBC - yep Have I been on a longer cruise as a solo with a reduced solo supplement and gotten $50 OBC - yep. And here is the communication I got from NCL when I only got $50:
