  1. I partially agree, maybe reduce the amount for additional guests when over 2 in a cabin. To still include the laundry, dishwashing, buffet staff.
  2. I use casino cash to pad my NCL card points that I use for upgrades. My bank doesn't give me anything extra if I just get cash before I leave, CC points may have benefits such as frequent flier points, sometimes at even a higher rate than 3%. Just something to consider, obviously only a good thing if you always pay off your balance.
  3. 3% charge, charged as a US travel purchase. So no foreign fees (US) plus any travel points your card gives you. If you have the NCL card you get 3x points, so it's a wash because you can get the fees back as a statement credit. ATM fee is $5.95 for comparison.
  4. They don't prep cabins by latitudes status. Platinum has priority access for check-in/boarding but rooms are ready when they're ready.
  5. When they cancelled St. Petersburg last summer, they offered a 10% discount plus added a substitute port. But ships weren't full and people were reluctant to travel to the Baltics so probably necessary to do something unusual in that case.
  6. Just a fyi - unless you have refundable OBC it can't be used to pay your DSC. Seems like a lot of effort just ' cause you don't want to pay in advance.
  7. Pretty sure it's not an urban legend, based on the number of posts on various platforms where people say they "always" do it. What isn't apparent is how it's done and the consequences, if any. Do you have to give an example of the poor service -like name names. Are there consequences to your room steward - it's been speculated that if you pull the DSC, your steward is supposed to hand over those cash tips.
  8. Nope. Prime rib in the buffet day 1 on the Star, London to Rome, end of October.
  9. Booked customers do NOT have to pay the increase unless they wait to pay onboard. I don't understand why a booked customer needs any notice since they have the option to keep the current rate.
  10. As long as you pay the DSC charge before you sail the increase won't affect your booking. Why does any company owe a notice of a future price increase that doesn't affect current customers?
  11. While I don't disagree it could be a cash thing, only people who don't read the announcement carefully will rush to pay this month. As far as I know, if you try to prepay DSC before final payment it just adds the amount to your amount due, doesn't require payment. If you do make a payment it just goes to your deposit amount. So the early payment amount they get now might not be all that significant.
  12. Yes. If you have a NCL excursion they make sure to get you on a tender to get you to your excursion on time.
  13. What are your plans in Cabo? If you are using a NCL excursion no need for tender tickets. Keep in mind that rooms might not be ready until 1ish, even later. So you'll have any carryon luggage with you.
  14. I've got several cruises booked prior to the last cost increase (April 2022) and the DSC cost did not change when I repriced. However, if you upgrade into a category with higher DSC charges (excluding bid upgrades) I suspect you would have the pay the increased amount.
  15. Just keep your cash instead of buying OBC. But generally speaking if you pay for obc it's refundable.
  16. Tag color is for the ship, not location. Everyone on your ship has the same color.
  17. I always bring baggies with me, sometimes get cookies or pastries to save for another time. Maybe not absolutely fresh but I'm good with that.
  18. You pay for specialty juices for example. And the statement is generic to all room service - I don't get the beverage package so would have to pay for a soda.
  19. 20% gratuity appears to be for items you have to pay for, not on top of the $4.95. At least that's how I read it. Guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks.
  20. True. I have a cruise booked for 2024 and grandfathered at $15.50 (OV) as long as I pay ahead. You can go to your reservation and under the summary there is a section for paying the DSC, it will tell you the amount.
  21. FYI, I was in Spain in October, several ports had the security checks in the terminals, then had duty-free shops so you could stock up on Pepsi (ships are now Coke). Much cheaper too!
  22. They've done it a little differently on different ships but overall, they've refunded the list price of the excursion, less any latitudes discount, then charged $50 to recoup the FAS discount. So the refund you got + the $50 charges should net what you actually paid. Then charged for the new excursion, less any latitudes discount ( you have to ask for that, it's not automatic). The $50 FAS discount will come off overnight, after you've taken the excursion.
  23. Maybe not, if people like me start to order breakfast now. And has anyone verified the 20% gratuity - according to the info, the 20% is for non- complimentary items. What is an appropriate tip - asking for a friend lol!
