  1. On a recent trip to Australia, Cairns was our first stop. We were required to have our passports to exit the ship. I requested that someone from Silversea be there to take our passports back to the ship for safekeeping after we exited Cairns makeshift immigration. Silversea obliged.
  2. Even if I think I have a handle on the market, I know enough to know that "cloudy and confused" is more accurate. 😂 Higher oil, agree! That and high interest rates were the main triggers last time. There I go again, thinking I know something.
  3. For the most part, US$. But once we got to Australia, AUD. FYI, Most of the carvings and trinkets were in the $10-$30 range except for one village in the Solomans. I believe it was Mbili. Their carvers were next level amazing. Some pieces $200 plus. Which leg and who with? I need to travel vicariously! Have a fabulous trip and please report back.
  4. That's a whole lotta debt to service at these levels. As mentioned before my technicals point to 4748-4831. I'm starting to question whether we get a one last grasp rally. That 5% is awfully attractive. Do I risk it for a quick 6% rally? I grew up in Chicago and we still have a condo downtown. The pension is the least of the problems.
  5. It's not the September slide I'm worried about. It's the big slide. Credit card and car loan default just hit 10 year highs. From 'The Sun Also Rises': How did you go bankrupt? Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.
  6. Of course you can pull it off! Check out these guys. And Mr. Go Big or Go Home!
  7. It often depends on the ship and who is at the restaurants helm. Most times I've never had a problem getting room service food anywhere. Just ask.😃 it gets a bit tricky getting food from different restaurants to other restaurants.
  8. Exactly. Like the large tour group from a cruise ship in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
  9. Your post wasn't there when I posted mine, weird. Kindred Kringle Spirits! Might just have to pay that crazy shipping cost!
  10. Well worth the mission. The pecan is my favorite, raspberry #2. Should you get addicted, mail order works well and sometimes Trader Joe's carries them fro O& H. Forgot about Sprecher Brewery. Aside from the obvious beers, they make one of the best root beers you will ever drink.
  11. One more. The Milwaukee Museum of Art designed by Calatrava is outstanding. Go, even if it's just to look at this masterpiece of a building spread its wings. Pizza in Chicago and Milwaukee is cult like. While the area is often cited for it's deep dish, Tavern style is what most of us grew up on. Crispy thin crust, fennel seed sausage, square cut, IMHO it's pizza perfection.
  12. Well done LOIS! Thanks for the great photos of the Emerald Isle. Mini tip, put a space in between the photos, it really sets them apart. . After insert, hit space, then insert and space again. 😃
  13. I grew up in Chicago, and we still have a condo there. Milwaukee is famous for its beer and German restaurants. Should you be needing either check out this place. It's legendary. https://madersrestaurant.com/
  14. Very jealous! We were there for neap tide. You were treated to a full perigean moon. Wahooo.
  15. Sounds like you're off to a rough start! Seriously, wishing you a wonderful voyage and looking forward to more reports.
  16. Hear hear! Rather tired of seeing ads and posts on social media from all the millennial influencers. Thanks for your excellent review.
  17. I'm with you on this one. But lately given the cost of some land based resorts I'm thinking of slipping in a trip on a bigger ship with killer suites and great restaurants like The Nova or Explora 1. Jury is still out. I'm quite turned off by comments that people can't get into the restaurants. What's the point! Or perhaps crossing on Cunard Queens Grill! Anything to avoid Heathrow. 😃 Agree, Gary B does a great job.
  18. Thanks for the link. Just looked and found some reports on the Explora threads. Sounds like a rocky start. Not sure if this large ship thing is in my cards.
  19. I hope the luxury market gets saturated. Terrible web site. All fluff, hard to navigate. No earth shattering itineraries. Nice enough if you want to do a lap. Try this for schedule. https://booking.explorajourneys.com/touchb2c/?searchVoyages={"dateFromVal"%3A{"local"%3A"2023-08-30T00%3A00%3A00.000"}%2C"dateToVal"%3A{"local"%3A"2023-12-31T00%3A00%3A00.000"}%2C"minAvlResultVal"%3A"OK"%2C"minAvlResultCtgVal"%3A"OK"%2C"residency"%3A"US"%2C"resParams"%3A{"agencyIdVal"%3A202%2C"customerCounts"%3A{"adults"%3A2%2C"seniors"%3A0%2C"children"%3A0%2C"infants"%3A0%2C"juniors"%3A0%2C"youths"%3A0}}}#/
  20. Your house or hers?🤣 Seriously, Nova is a beauty. Check out the Explora.
