  1. I usually put my mon in a large duffel bag. She used to complain, but she’s gotten used to it now, and I let her use the money saved for OBC! (yes, I’m kidding).
  2. So apparently I’m not the only one who can’t get on to the website or app. My cruise isn’t until Sept., but I’d like to do some things if possible.
  3. My brokerage account doesn’t have my name on it, only the account#, will it still be accepted by PCL?
  4. Pikes Peak, Pike Place Market. Never Pike Market. Sorry to nitpick, but I don’t want any of you to have to smell the stinkeye you’ll receive if you call it Pikes.
  5. Of the listed hotels the Monaco would be closest to the Pike Place Market. The arrow points to where the light rail station is taking you directly to the airport.
  6. I’m doing a 17 day cruise Seattle to Seattle around the Hawaiian islands, my mother and I. We currently have a mini-suite mid-forward, would there be much of a chance for us to get an upgrade from this category?
  7. If you are traveling with someone who won’t use the fitness classes, can you use them?
  8. I love the Westin Bayshore, it sort of has a resort feel to it. And the walk to the center of the city really isn’t that bad. If you are able to, rent bikes and ride around the seawall, it’s just a great way to spend an afternoon.
  9. SEA has had some days where the security line extends into the parking garage. If you plan an early flight I’d make certain you take advantage of spot saver. https://www.portseattle.org/SEAspotsaver If you aren’t tired of seafood by this point of your vacation, SEA now has a Salty’s restaurant in the terminal with excellent food and it’d be a good place to spend some time.
  10. If her doctors can provide a note as a backup, but I doubt the security personnel would ever question your mom. ADA line would be best for her, but se needs to be mentally prepared for the pat down, they can really get into your hidden parts.
  11. Regarding the .25m walk at the airport, for those of you who are mobility impaired, or just plain tired, the POS (no, not that POS) operates an electric buggy from the skybridge to the terminal to the light rail station. If you find yourself on the Link around morning or afternoon rush, you will get a seat out of the airport, but by the time you get downtown you will have a very packed rail car. The first group I’d honestly say link to monorail and walk to the hotel. You don’t even need to leave Westlake station to catch the elevator to the monorail, use the savings on a better dinner or dinks that night. The Hyatt House is in a safe area, but there’s not a lot of dining options, if you’re up for it, cross through the Seattle Center to Lower Queen Anne (also known as Uptown, but nobody in Seattle calls it that) where there’s a plethora of restaurants. I hope this helps.
  12. I’m a flight attendant, 33 years here. Don’t do it. There are so many things that can go wrong, mechanical (no there aren’t just spare planes sitting around to swap), there currently is a shortage of pilots for the smaller planes and a few weeks or days before flying the schedule can be thinned, and the first to go are the smaller planes on shorter routes. I don’t want your vacation ruined by the airlines. This isn’t the year to take that gamble.
  13. British Columbia has some excellent wines, but they aren’t well known because there are limits to their exports. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by their excellence. The wineries near Seattle would be in Woodinville, which is developing a nice wine district. If wine was your husband’s motivator, Walla Walla. Fantastic wine scene and amazing food. I think in 20-30 years we’ll talk about Walla Walla like we do Napa now.
  14. And besides, The Embassy Suites has 13 coins on the main floor, a great 24 hr. restaurant!
  15. Link light rail from downtown Seattle to ID station where King Street Station is, Amtrak to Vancouver. If possible, take the morning train and sit on the left hand side, you’ll have some spectacular scenery. If in the dead of summer with our long summer days the evening train will also give you some good views. When you get into Vancouver you can take the skytrain from the train station right to the waterfront station where Canada Place is. Easy peasy. Now, if you have the time, I’d take the morning train, get off in Bellingham where you’ll be in the Fairhaven District, have lunch, look around at the neat shops, especially Village Books. It’ll be easy to knock around the day there, then you can hop back on to the evening Amtrak to continue your travels to Vancouver. I’d check about luggage storage at the Amtrak depot for the day.
  16. My two loonies. I’m a flight attendant who travels internationally andI have a 5 zippered pouch that has currency of different countries. You don’t need a lot of local currency, especially in a place like Canada, but some is good. If what you want cash for is just tipping, I think 90% of Canadian service workers would be fine with receiving US dollars. Most people in Vancouver visit the states at least once every 2 years or so, or at least my Canadian family does.
  17. I don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but don’t let the hill up to the core of downtown intimidate you if you stay at the Edgewater or Waterfront Marriott. You can take an elevator up through the Market Garage to get up to the Pike Place Market (note, it is never Pikes, you will be able to smell Seattleite’s stink eye if you say that). Also be aware that Seattle’s waterfront is undergoing a huge construction project and there is a lot of construction. Seattle will be hosting the MLB All-Star game this year, so for you July cruisers keep that in mind as the expensive hotels will probably become exorbitant.
  18. There is an Anthony’s restaurant at pier 66, decent seafood there.
  19. I have tickets booked on Delta in October, and I’ve had 3 changes since the reservation was made, I expect there to be more in the coming months. I just keep my eye on the times to make certain they still work for me.
  20. So in general I’m extremely green to cruising. The partner and I are looking at one of the Viking cruises that either start in Greenwich and end in Bergen or the opposite. Doing the research Viking seems like a good fit, as my partner would be very interested in the the speakers offered, and a shore excursion being offered in each port. I guess my question is whether it’s the best value spending more on Viking or trying to build something similar on a line like Celebrity. Is one of the advantages that it’s just ‘easier’ on Viking to plan your vacation?
