Luggage Forward - Recent Experience and Early Pick Up Date?
Sarnia 432 replied to Smokeyham's topic in Cunard Line
@jcgeorge thanks for your insight. I hadnāt thought of sending to the hotel. We will be arriving a day early in port, so having the bags at the hotel will reassure me, rather than worrying until I see the bags arrive in my cabin! -
Luggage Forward - Recent Experience and Early Pick Up Date?
Sarnia 432 replied to Smokeyham's topic in Cunard Line
Is there any need to worry about delays in Customs. We are considering sending our cases ahead to the cruise, but I am so worried they wonāt arrive! Looking to send from Uk to Italy. Has anyone had an issue, or am I worried for no reason? -
Hi, glad to see you back with another āliveā. I have just caught up and thoroughly enjoyed reading about your cruise. Now I can sit back and travel along too! We enjoyed meeting you in Norway (Loen Skylift was great fun with you) so I have been eagerly awaiting this review. We are headed up to Alaska in September (Majestic and Grand).

I think the OP is referring to the packages with alcohol, that include wifi, gratuities, specialty dining etc. There is no equivalent for non-drinkers.

Thanks, our cruise is the last in a chain of b2b, so we will see how it plays out.

@Parrottdizes which ship and date are you sailing. We are booked on the Island sailing June 4th 2024 and our itinerary still shows Yorktownā¦ā¦..

Once yo get there, the town is very walkable, harbour, shops, Cathedral. It is a 2.2mile walk from the cruise ship dock to the Cathedral, so unless you are a good walker the shuttle service might be your best bet.

No, they stopped that program a long time ago

We had pre-booked tickets and joined a line that took about 45 mins to get to board the capsule. Those buying at the ticket kiosk joined a separate line that met ours at the boarding platform, that line looked about twice as long. This was in November 2022.

Live Report: Suddenly, Iām Going to Norway!
Sarnia 432 replied to *Miss G*'s topic in Holland America Line
@oakridger this is the link for various options from UK to Norway by train. May give you some ideas for the section from Amsterdam to Oslo. https://www.seat61.com/Norway.htm -
The brand varies a lot, depending on the supply chain. You could try to find a roll call of a current sailing and ask there, but if the ship resupplies in the meantime, there could be a different brand by the time you board.

Odd things we sometimes like to bring with us on a cruise
Sarnia 432 replied to larrybritt's topic in Princess Cruises
I asked my dentist about using a dental repair kit for one of my crowns, when we were going on an extended vacation. He said not to use them as the subsequent removal of the crown would be extremely difficult. He suggested taking polident (a fixative for securing dentures). Telling me it would hold the crown securely and he would be able to refix the crown on my return. Fortunately my crown ābehavedā and I didnāt need to use anything. I would double check with a quick call to your dentist to see what is recommended. Crowns are expensive and you wouldnāt want to damage it. -
I use Tru Earth for all my washing. I see they are now available in Australia https://www.truearth.net.au/?countryCode=AU

@Coravel thanks. I had a feeling it was way too soon, but wanted to check.

Thanks @tring , we are using the service as it will be prior to a long cruise and although we usually go on a train, this will be so much easier (we hope). I will call Fred.

We have a cruise booked for next year. The booking includes the car and driver service from home to Southampton. It feels too early to call and arrange this, but not having done it before I have no idea. Can anyone advise how soon before the cruise I should call to get this organized?

Scarlet Lady / Live / Solo - May-21-26-2023
Sarnia 432 replied to sid_9169's topic in Virgin Voyages
Sid, it really worked for me the āgo off and enjoy yourself, write about it laterā approach, rather than a continues blow by blow. You seemed to capture the same information with your usual style. I usually read a few pages at a time to catch up. I hope this allowed you to have more time to enjoy on your own. Sounds like a fun holiday. Safe travels -
How Do You Get FCC Applied To An Existing Booking?
Sarnia 432 replied to Rick&Jeannie's topic in Princess Cruises
Needs to be done by phone, using the fcc reference number. Either call your travel agent, or if you didnāt use one, call Princess directly -

Sarnia 432 replied to Flyinby's topic in Other Cruise Lines
@Flyinby Thank you for your review. We are considering doing this cruise and your comments have been really helpful. -
This was not on our itinerary, which had us sailing round the outside of Greenland. But the Captain announced he would sail down the sound either that morning, or the night before. It was the highlight of the cruise.

Just booked Royal Princess for Inner Passageā¦.
Sarnia 432 replied to Boozy O Croozy's topic in Princess Cruises
The ātrueā inside passage runs between Vancouver Island and the mainland. Royal ships do not do this, but sail round the outside of the Island (rougher seas and no scenery) The map that Princess uses labels the area North of Vancouver Island as the inside passage, but this is only a tiny section and misses the best views.
