  1. Our bank does the same using the last 4 numbers of the account but.......🤔 I know I may be an over-cautious fool, but I don't reply to those either and prefer to contact the bank personally. Avril
  2. Good idea Dave. If I get anything remotely suspicious via email or text, regarding any of our online accounts, I phone the company concerned and check it out asap. I don't use online contact numbers either. I made a note of the phone numbers that they give you when you set up up the accounts and put them in my phone log, that way even the calls are monitored. You can't be too careful nowadays. I shall also use the site Rupert reccomended. Belt and braces approach. Avril
  3. Stan on Dinner Ladies had bollards too. His were 'up and down at the touch of a button'😁 Sis
  4. Good to see you back kalos you look very relaxed. You had us a tad worried there you little scamp.😉 Avril
  5. Hopefully @kalos is having a long awaited cruise. I'm sure if it was anything else Mrs K would have said something by now, the same way Pauline did about Graham. Avril
  6. Even one of the finest tenor voices in the world, Andrea Bocelli, is affected by age, but still magnificent. Avril
  7. My vote for Worst of the Night goes to Paloma Faith. I think Lionel Ritchie, as do many older singers, lose the power and quality of their voice, but the magic and nostalgia is still there. Avril
  8. Of couse you do Jane. It holds the jam onto the crumbly scone😁 Avril ps. How's the tooting?
  9. Me too, it's the safest way. No risk of the jam sliding off the cream, and straight down the front of a white top. Which has happapened to me, much to my embarrassment😳 Avril
  10. We enjoyed it too. Looking forward to the concert this evening now, the forecast is dry and warm in London for the day(and here) thank goodness. Still no @kalos🤔 It's been two weeks now, so probably a cruise and we'll hear from him soon🤞 Have a good day everyone. x Avril
  11. I was 6 when Queen Elizabeth ll was crowned and can vaguely remember Staines High St drenched with Union flags, watching some tv footage at Gran's along with her neighbours, and the sandwiches and cakes afterwards. To a little girl it was pure magic, though I doubt this one will have as much pomp. Avril
  12. I shall be happily watching the coronation tomorrow. I make no apologies for being a monarchist🤴 I like the royal family, well.... some, not all😬 Have a really enjoyable day tomorrow whatever you do. Avril
  13. All good ideas Eglesbrech and ones that we have been considering, hence the long time coming to the final decison. On our last cruise in November 2019 he was begining to have one or two problems then. the worse being moving around the ship when it was even a bit choppy. It threw his back out of line and caused pain, so he had to take his meds and lay down for a couple of hours. Ultimately the decision had to be his. We've decided to see what the news is after his appointment and then decide what to do after that. Avril
  14. After three months of continual back and forth I have reluctantly had to cancel our December,18 night cruise. It was hard, but Frank's back and walking problems have been slowly getting worse and is now waiting for a hospital appointment, which will probably be later than sooner. We already know what the problem is, but it's to see if anything more can be done to help. I was on hold for 40 mins this morning, but surprisingly I got a refund on some of the deposit. Something to do with an overpayment of deposit🤔 Confused, but I won't argue. I hope everyone is well. x Avril
  15. @purplesea Congratulations on your wedding anniversay today💐 I hope you hear soon from your oncologist. I mean, how long does it take to make a phone call? Avril
  16. Or perhaps not. Neither my sisters nor I were christened, our parents choice. Mum was religious, Dad was not and said we should make our own minds up when we could fully understand the meaning of a christening. Avril
  17. Youth is wasted on the young. It's only as they age they will begin to realise what they have lost. Avril
  18. That's what we tell ourselves, unfortuately the body doesn't agree😒 Avril
  19. Cudworth is Barnsley Harry. It's only a mile away from me. Just darn't road. My accent is neither one nor the other. Here they think I 'talk posh' and further south they hear the northern tone. Neither Mum nor Dad ever lost their southern accent. They always drank their tea from a cap😉 Avril
  20. Charlie Williams was the typical Barnsley accent that I understood, but this was more the slang words than accent. Maftin, brossend and croggy are three of the old slang words that still stick in my memory. Avril
  21. It's the same with the strong original Barnsley dialect. There was a column in the Barnsley Chronicle, 'Owd Ned' irc, and was a snippet of gossip but written in the old dialect. To me it was gobbledygook, but Frank's dad understood every word. Sis
  22. And to think we all laughed at Robbie The Robot - entertaining but unbelievable🤖 Avril
  23. I agree, we have only had the odd hiccup, nothing major. All these problems now being reported, seem to me, to be post covid and larger ships, so not only more cabins per steward, but also new inexperienced crew? Avril
