  1. I keep getting e.mails, messages and letters too. They've even resorted to telling me that the electicity meter is old and needs replacing, so they will do it free and install the smart meter at the same time. Funny that. We had an complete rewire and electrical upgrade, including replacing the old meter, 4 years ago😏. Things don't last as long as they used to anymore do they?πŸ€” I hope nobody falls for that one. Avril
  2. I don't have a smart meter, less stress that wayπŸ˜‰ Avril
  3. What a beautiful sentiment. It will be 32 years this August since Dad died and and 29 years in September my Mum, but even though the pain has gone and the tears can still come, the memories and love always remain. Thinking of you today @grapau27x Avril
  4. I don't like regular tea either, but love Chrysanthemum or Jasmine tea. I am however a coffee fiend, the stronger the better, a little milk, no sugar. Lovely🀭 Avril
  5. How are you getting on? I know you were having a bad cough/chest problem. Avril
  6. Frank did the same and had a word with the doctor about it. Apparently, tobacco smoke (not nicotine) destroys some of the tiny hairs in the airways which help clear the mucus from the lungs. When you stop smoking they begin to grow back and start working again to clear the mucus, hence a cough. It lasted for about a month or so and never got any worse. It would have been the same if he'd have stopped smoking without vaping. As you say, keep an eye on it and you can always have a word with your doctor as Frank did. Avril & Frank
  7. Very well done Jane.πŸ₯‡ I'm sure you are begining to feel the benefits of being a non-smoker, not only health-wise but also in the pocket. I have also noticed that some travel insurance companies are now, in the smoker or non-smoker declaration, state vaping is classed as non-smoker. Frank and I are recovering slowly thanks Jane, but we are so lethargic, our 'get up and go' just got up and wentπŸ˜’. To make matters worse I am now nursing a very badly bruised and swollen knee. The sweep came yesterday to clean the chimney and clean and service the Parkray. I folded the hall runner up to keep it clean and promptly tripped up over it. I went ace over apex and ended up flat out on the hardwood floor. I iced my knee all day yesterday and am taking ibuprofen so I think it will be ok in a few days. Things can only get better🀞 Have a good day everyone and stay warm and verticalπŸ˜‰ Avril
  8. A turnip and a swede are different vegetables. The one posted is a swede and a turnip is smaller with a much paler flesh, thin skin and is easier to peel. I know because hate preparing swede, I much prefer turnip. Nothing to do with what Mr Google says. Avril
  9. I'm not that mercenary kalos, £3.25 and free delivery too 😊 Avril
  10. I grew them in the unheated greenhouse the same as the tomatoes. I planted each seed in a fibre pot and put in a propagater in the greenhouse, they grew quickly, and when big enough planted them out into the greenhouse border. They need netting to grow against as they're climbers, but other than that, very straightforward. I followed the instructions on the packet and was surprised how easy it was. I grew all female flower cucumbers so no need to worry with the fertilisation of the flowers. If I can grow them anyone can. Avril
  11. I've bought Kale from Asda, ready sliced in bags though. Hope you're feelling a little better today. x Avril
  12. I grew cucumbers last year for the first time, and had a heavy crop of small cucumbers - Passandra. Lovely tasting, much nicer than shop bought, and am growing them again this year. Avril
  13. We were like that, and it does take quite a while to shake it off. We are still very weak with no energy at all. Having said that, we didn't have the problem with our lungs. When I spoke to the doctor he said to get back in touch with him if it went to the lungs, so it would be wise to contact your doctor like you said. Take care.x Avril
  14. @Eglesbrech I hope you're feeling a little better now Eglesbrech. I think Frank and I are begining to turn a corner at last, and was wondering how you were. x Avril
  15. Of course we will. No matter where you are, you will always find at least one turnip.😁 Avril
  16. Even York railway station is lovely with many original features still there. At least it was when we last went. As well as the many interesting attractions York has, it's old buildings are beautiful. We love to wander at the lanes and alleyways just looking at them. Sis
  17. There are a lot of interesting places in York. Our favourite was the Jorvik Viking Centre. We were fascinated by the whole experience and learned a lot. Sis
  18. Sorry you're so feeling unwell Eglesbrech and I hope you begin to feel better soon. It really is a stinker this particular virus that's doing the rounds lately. Our covid tests are negative too. All I want to do is sleep and be left alone to feel sorry for myself. I'm over the chills and sore throat and now into the bunged up and coughing stage. The whole house smells of Olbas Oil. Mum would say a cold is 3 days coming, 3 days with you and 3 days going. I hope she's right, but this is day 5, so I don't think she is.πŸ˜’ Take care. Avril
  19. You're still a young pup Jean. I'll keep reminding you, don't worry. Avril
  20. My cousin who is 89 refers to me as a young pup, so at 76 I'm happy with that. Avril
  21. Better than my way. Running outside. screaming like a banshee and terrifying the neighbours as well as the cat😱 Avril
  22. Just incase you feel peckish later? Avril
