  1. Just by maps, I think that is the best plan. Someone that is in Miami should chime in with better knowledge. But since this may be the only viable route, you can imagine how it will be. I would see how many ships are embarking that day.
  2. Biscayne Blvd will be a nightmare. If it were me, I would want to be north of McArthur Causeway, take that in vs Port Blvd. Brickell area and Bayside area will be horrible. But since that will primarily be the only decent way in EVERYONE will be going in that way turning it to a parking lot.
  3. 10AM I would say with Self Assist and hopping a cab instead of Uber since they are there.
  4. Since this is 2 days ahead, where you stop is 100% dependent on you. Personally, I would want to spend the extra hour or so getting to the south side of GA if you are finishing up the next morning JAX is a pain during any type of rush hour. Either get through it before it starts or after it is done. If it were me, I would get it done early. Get to PC for a nice lunch, see if you can get into the hotel room earlier or relax at the pool. Maybe take a nap and enjoy a fun evening before the cruise relaxed.
  5. I cruise in 3 months. Still not sure what to do. I figure Woodwind gets back at 1PM. If they had a 3 seater golf cart, we would rent one. But they don't. I don't want to rent a car for 4-hours, so a lot of options are limited. Still working on more options currently.
  6. We have a Jeep rented. We plan to go to Tres Trapi to snorkel first thing in the morning. The to Arashi Beach to relax and take in the beach and lunch. After, head to the old gold mill and secret pool. Then head back to the dropoff location. I am a little concerned with overall time if we went to Arashi and then down to Baby Beach area. It would be a lot of time getting around.
  7. I checked for a gas station near where we pick up/dropoff. It is only like 1Km away. Still trying to figure out, but since we have it until we want to turn it in, I think we are good.
  8. The "best" way is to slowly meander to Baggage Claim, collect your luggage, find a place to have breakfast and relax at the airport, then head to Port. If the airport is not what you want, find a hotel by the airport that offers paid breakfast, go there with your luggage, relax and dine then head to the Port. You could do Bayside Marketplace and tote your luggage around with you.
  9. It is 100% dependent on anything going on in Miami at that time. If it is not an event weekend or a marathon, 40 minutes is right. If there is something going on, it can take 4-5 hours if not longer. Always look to if any events are going on the morning or weekend of your cruise.
  10. Spring Break brings out the street thugs. They look for easy targets, easy drug sales, and anything they can swipe. Last place in the world I want to be. But with SB ending soon, it should get back to normal. Unfortunately, you don't know exactly when it will end. The week leading up to Easter is still a pretty big vacation week.
  11. This is on Biscayne Blvd leading to the cruise terminals. Its still Spring Break. Traffic will be an absolute nightmare. If I were cruising this weekend, I would be at the terminal extremely early and waiting in the line for early arrivals.
  12. Most likely Flannigan's use to be owned by a family. They expanded and had a great following. They sold when the offer was too good not to. Still a great place, any and all of them.
  13. Celebrities and athletes are not part of a publicly traded company. The Execs have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to bring value to the investment. Extremely poor comparison.
  14. 2 things to consider: when does your flight arrive and how much do you want to spend? Hotels near MCO are much cheaper than hotels near PC, probably 50% or less of the cost. You can find any level of hotel and many within walking distance of places to eat and things to do. I would use a service for travel to and from PC. Something like Cruise Control Transportation. He will pick up at your hotel and drop you right off at the ship. The hotel and transportation from MCO is the same as just the hotel at PC in many cases.
  15. Can't Platinums arrive when they want and go to the Priority Check-in line? I have been told that is what FTTF can do if they get a late arrival time, just show up and go to the Priority Line because they don't check the arrival times for those guests.
  16. Based on our June cruise, people with booked balconies are getting upgrade offers to more desirable decks and views. They probably paid $200-$300 more than the GTY people. If they can get an extra $200 to upgrade, they move them to the better locations and the TBA get the lifeboat, overhang type views. I am not saying they are bad, just that is what I am seeing in my cruise group. They could be because they are random: above or below a nightclub, right below Lido where chairs are dragged all night, over the kitchen where they are cooking at all hours etc.
  17. Unless you are extremely high up in the company, Hedge Fund Manager, or a MM, your vote is barely a part of the rounding error. There are about 10-12 institutions that own over 50% of the shares. They are the ones that make the decisions. There is no retail investor that would ever be a vote to sway a decision one way or another.
  18. Execs do not get paid much at all. Their compensation is in bonus. Due to the price, they are receiving MASSIVE amounts of stock options. Yes, that gives them a huge incentive to get the stock price higher. However, they are protected if bankruptcy must happen. The rest of us aren't. $35B doesn't go down magically. With their 5% interest rate, that is $150M in interest ever quarter. They need to pay down $1.15B each quarter to manage debt. They aren't even turning a profit yet despite all the full bookings.
  19. It appears Carnival is following their rules. Ask the 10 people dropped off in the Bahamas for a fight over a deck chair.
  20. $35B in debt at 5% is no joke. That is $150M in interest every quarter. They have a massive fleet. They need to keep the ships filled, limit exec pay, and start throwing all profit to the debt. If done right over 5-years they can get rid of a ton of the debt, the execs get insane numbers of shares as compensation, and they get the growth in share price. Otherwise, we are looking at a bankruptcy to correct the debt.
  21. There are inexpensive hotels for the night, but they are all going to have a few negatives. If you look at it as simply a place to sleep and shower, they are not that bad. Use Priceline and Hotwire for even better savings. With a budget of $200 for this night, there are tons of options and I think with timing you can get a good hotel for about $100-$110. Looking at a random date (Oct 20-21), Sonesta by MIA was $147 with PL Express Deal. A 2.5* in Doral (just west of MIA) includes breakfast for $105. Nice places to eat and have a drink nearby. Cannot tell which hotel, but they are fine.
  22. This has to stop. From a shareholder perspective, they need to stop spending money, pay down debt, and get the stock price back to where it needs to be. I am not talking $50, but they need to get rid of $1B in debt every quarter plus interest. This comes to about $1.15B each quarter to cover principal and interest. This is no small feat, but necessary. Everywhere they can cut cost is fair game.
  23. Saw a picture of them kicked off at the port. I am sure media sources will pick the story up and twist it to an agenda. It probably all started from a case where someone got a drink before someone else or something so less trivial.
  24. We'll have a good time and a teenager in tow, so have to do some things. But right about when midnight hits, I am done the night before a cruise. I only sleep 4-5 hours, so I can get going again early in the morning.
