  1. That’s like replacing a first string QB with the Bench Warmer. I sure hope NCL has some better entertainment ideas up their sleeve for 2024. C’est la vie. Enjoy your cruise and short visit to Bermuda.
  2. Oh my goodness, I totally forgot what packing looked like for a family of 5. And, you had me a little worried when they were still in the lounge. I once made my DH and I miss the plane out to a very important and expensive event. I’m still hearing about it. Wishing you a safe and adventurous cruise.
  3. “HE” didn’t say anything. For someone who was so precise in pointing out what OP said…you failed to recognize the HE is a SHE. Just sayin.
  4. You can hit the three dots in the upper right corner of your post. Select Report and ask the moderator to turn off comments. I was one who posted a few times, just trying to get you to see the rationalization of why the captain chose to sail. Please don’t think I was minimizing your experience. I am sure it was harrowing. Again, glad you’re home safe. p.s. Give corporate a call…you never know what they might do. But I wouldn’t blame the captain…focus on the $$$ you paid to be have the begeezes scared out of you. Who knows.
  5. Do you honestly believe the ships captain would endanger a ship full of passengers, the crew and staff, and themself for port fees? I sincerely doubt it. Even today the radar in the area shows rough weather all around Icy Straight, Juneau, down to Ketchikan. It was likely a no win situation, and allowing enough time to navigate the rough seas was likely the best choice. Or would you rather had an extra day of rough weather.?
  6. I think this is probably the root of the comments posted here. You should have posted in your Roll Call, that way you’d have a lot of company sharing similar experiences. Because you posted in the general NCL area, non of us responders experienced your situation. I don’t think anyone is trying to minimize your experience or the rough weather. It was your comment about contacting corporate. One thought to ponder. Everyone knew rough weather was in store. You saw it and felt it way before dark. Consider the Captain’s silence as a sign that he/she was focused on steadily navigating in extreme conditions in the dark. again, sorry for your experience. Happy your home safe and able to share the events.
  7. Shareholder OBC is considered non-refundable and cannot be used in the casino.
  8. Sorry for your scary experience. But that is a risk one takes when cruising….especially on smaller ships. Be thankful you didn’t get an announcement or blasts/long blast in the middle of the night. re: damage and taking on water. The Sun is back out to sea, so the damage, if any, must not have impacted the safe sailing of the ship. IMO, chalk this up as a story worth repeating when sharing cruise stories with others. Glad you made it back safely.
  9. Oops…guess I missed the title and question…lol. And, I included lots of typos for extra entertainment.
  10. Maybe…or not. What I found last Black Friday was the “price” was reduced more than the previous few weeks. While this may have or not been a product of a BF sale..it did result lower prices for our cruise coming up in less about 26 days. So…just check out what is bring be offered. You never know…..
  11. IF we ever get to stay in the Haven, we would probably tip at the end so the Butler and Concierge wouldn’t think we were cheapskates…lol. However, in Gen Pop we tip as we go…a few $$ with each drink, cash tip at specialty dining, and a nightly cash tip to our steward with a thank you note. They enjoy cleaning our room!! BTW, welcome back from out west. Hope it fulfilled your adventurous spirit.
  12. We had the pool and the hot tubs were working, although we didn’t use either since we thought it was cold and windy.
  13. Not accurate. We took a taxi from the airport to Plaka using credit card. You have to tell the Taxi Porter and they will hail one. Our hotel, Hotel Plaka, ordered one to take us to the cruise port, snd again to go from hotel to airport. The only time we had to pay Euros was from cruise port yo hotel in Plaka post cruise.
  14. Lol…yes, it is not intuitive at all when you look at the Deck Plan. But you can’t beat the views!!
  15. iMO this makes a lot of sense. It will certainly be much easier to manage cabin inventory and pricing. Def suggests that the Solo cruiser is a strong demographic for NCL. And, Thermal Pass can have it’s own dynamic pricing…not held hostage to cabin demand-based pricing strategy. Good move NCL.
  16. If ye other perks of Priority Access don’t interest you…and you got your reservations for Teppanyaki booked, I would tell you to cancel. Last May we bought Priority Access on Prima and it was a total waste of $179 (?). Just my opinion.
  17. We sailed Prima first week of May from NYC to Bermuda. We didn’t find it difficult to see and do what we wanted. Buffet tip…go to the very back of the buffet, there is typically fewer people there. Also that is where the grill area is for quick burgers, fries. Grab a table before you get your food and take turns. indulge…we found later was better. The Local, we ate lunch there twice. Both times given rattlers…never waited more than 5 mins to be seated. Hudson’s for breakfast…get there by 8:15-8:30 to avoid a wait. Entertainment…make reservations for Donna Summer snd Price is Right, which can be done on app 26-21 days before based on status. Onboard, check the dailies…there will be a table setup on day of show in atrium to get your PIR name tags. Be sure to get your keycard scanned upon entering the theater…this is how they randomly select contestants. Other shows in theater without reservations…get there around 15-20 mins before showtime. We liked to enter on Deck 6, port side. Fewer people go there and there is a bar right inside once the doors open. The chairs by the windows at Starbucks are awesome…just stand around for several minutes…we thought the turnover was pretty good and loved the view. The observation lounge…nit so much. I think those people had roots. if it’s cool and windy, and you want a quick drink, the Waves Pool bar on Deck 17 (near the Observation Lounge) was never busy. Finally, I highly recommend a cabin that uses the forward elevators. There are more of them with fewer people. It conveniently drops you in the atrium. @HowardK some info for you. Also, our first two days from NYC were windy and rough seas. Everyone was mostly inside but it didn’t feel overly crowded. The boat does rock in rough seas…and creaks and cracks. IMO, Prima had way more to like than dislike. Happy cruising.
  18. If it’s early to mid-April you could run into the Spring Break crowds…especially in the Caribbean. I say the Vibe could be a savings Grace. We don’t normally do the Vibe…but sure would if traveling at peak time for family/teens/youngsters.
  19. Are you past final payment? If not, they are probably just adding the $10 pp pd to your final payment. And, since you don’t have anything to compare against you can’t tell is that’s what’s happening. If you are past final payment then they would be asking you for a credit card # to charge you for it. You’ll know soon once you talk to your TA.
  20. Did you throw a coin? You might need to buy some Cruise Next if you did. And if you threw two…well, you may need double occupancy on that cruise🤣
  21. Hotel Plaka. We did one night pre and post cruise. Reasonable rates when we stayed. We walked everywhere and felt so safe. We met a travel agent from France on the cruise, and that is where they stayed as well. We took a taxi from the airport to hotel. Actually all our travel to/from hotel/port were taxis. The hotel helped arrange taxis where we could use credit cards. AP to hotel took card and we paid cash (Euros) port to hotel. Let me know if you have any other questions. when you Google it, be sure to find the hotel website…not the guest.reservations site that poos up first.
  22. Nice review. Great pictures, too. Glad you enjoyed your holiday onboard the Epic. Yeah…kids in nappies in pools bother me too. In the US they load your Cruise Next certificates right onto your Latitudes account. We never get any emails..they just show up. Have fun picking out your next cruise.
