  1. This Viva itinerary in January/February looks awesome and Solo Balcony under $3000. 7-DAY CRUISE ON NORWEGIAN VIVA Caribbean: Barbados, Antigua & St. Lucia from San Juan, Puerto Rico
  2. Dormancy fees are very common with gift cards. A card can be considered dormant after one year of non-use. A gift card sits on a company’s balance sheet as a revenue liability until it is redeemed. Each state as different laws for dormant cards, with many treating them as unclaimed property, which the value ultimately reverts to the state. By clawing back fees each month, the company is reducing their liability and keeping it from going to the state. I have seen companies re-issue cards that have gone dormant down to zero value, but obviously that is up to the company.
  3. YES!! The 🐀 pack is an enigma. 😃.
  4. I’ll have another Chardonnay and forget you screwed up. Cheers my friend 🥰
  5. Assuming you were not in a Suite or Haven…On your 4 and 10 day cruise you were likely booked during a double points promo, thus 28 vs. 14. look at your confirmation for your 12 day cruise. You have promo codes in upper right hand corner. If it says LATITUDE you will get double points for your upcoming cruise. If it doesn’t say that then you will only get 1 point per night (again, unless you’re in Haven or Suite). you will have to complete your cruise before points are awarded and you move levels.
  6. NCL books late night flights from West Coast to East Coast per the promo airfare terms. I’ve read reviews of people getting 10 pm departure times.
  7. It’s likely that you selected your cabin, and now at the lower price the only cabins are guarantee. This would make it an apple/orange comparison and therefore not eligible for a FCC. Also, if your within two weeks of sailing, you can’t get a FCC.
  8. If you decide to bid check out what the cost would be to just upgrade outright. Sometimes it costs less to upgrade this way..and you can often pick your cabin. Personally, we prefer the Club Balcony. We like the midship location, the larger bathroom, the cookies and chocolate strawberries…even the inexpensive sparkling wine is drinkable to me. We’ve only used the free laundry once but it was nice to have that benefit.
  9. Darn…would be nice to meet you. Enjoy your cruise! And May you have no need for any medication!
  10. At the top of NCL.com you can pick Explore, then scroll down to Cruise Ships. From there you will see all the NCL fleet. Click on Jewel and then What’s Onboard. You can see dining, entertainment, staterooms, activities, etc. Keep in mind some of the things could change between now and 2025…especially entertainment.
  11. Ouch. Maybe try an upgrade bid to family balcony. On a site I look at there are currently 99 B4 rooms.
  12. IThis suggestion doesn’t save you $$ but may give you a better cabin. Do the paid upgrade to a OA cabin, then use your points to upgrade to a balcony. Check yo make sure both cabins are available.
  13. If I have a card in my name and husband has a card in his, are the points still combinable?
  14. YESSSSSSS. We’re so looking forward to it. It’s my birthday cruise!!
  15. Great question. Looking forward to the answer. @MagnoliaBlossom probably knows.
  16. Based on looking at the home page for this organization, I think it looks like these awards are designed to generate revenue the organization…not really a true reflection of the cruisers opinion. The cruise company nominates themselves, pays the organization for the “voting package”, the cruise company then self promotes the voting, the cruise company then pays to attend the awards gala or if not attending they can pay for a “award package” which is a plaque, rights to use the Award Logo, etc.
  17. I love wine…my hubby, not so much. He will order a glass of wine at dinner (whatever I am drinking) so I have a second glass. In the Wines Around the World, how big is the pour per wine? While he would never “spit”, he just wouldn’t drink much. How is this viewed? We are just now Platinum? Insights, please.
  18. Thank you for resurrecting an older post. I promise, you will never regret having Zofran in your travel arsenal. in fact, @Grimix recently posted about how his DW who works in the Er/ED (lol) doesn’t travel without.
  19. Bird, you are so thorough. Thanks for all the insights. Really looking forward to your next review…VIVA if I recall correctly.
  20. Sounds like a good plan. Wishing you a fabulous cruise.
  21. $2500 spent on NCL you would get 7500 plus additional 5000 BoA bonus. Total of 5:1.
  22. There are several items that have a cost or upcharge…only if you want to partake. Sounds like you could walk off the Breakaway without owing NCL anything if you choose to. Some onboard expenses you might decide to do are: games like Bingo or Deal No Deal, casino, shopping, menu items that have an extra cost (which there are very few), difference in drink cost for drinks over $15, room service. Or if you wish to take advantage of the Cruise Next offer. What specialty dining restaurant/s did you choose?
