  1. I went to McDonalds yesterday for dinner, and they had a sign that said "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service". I was very offended. As a paying customer, "the customer is always right, even when he is wrong", and if I want to walk in barefoot and without a shirt on, that's my right. It's my money, so I should be allowed to go to McDonalds with nothing other than my underwear. I mean, I will wear underwear - I'm not a barbarian, you know... I mean seriously, no one else should care what I wear. After all, my dress (or lack thereof) is not part of their dining experience. Amirite??
  2. It is very difficult to get dressed when it is cold outside the ship.
  3. Excellent point. There are some people with enough money that they don't really care what a bottle of wine costs. They want the best, and they are content to pay for it. So even if that $300 bottle of wine is only incrementally better than the $30 bottle, they'd rather spend the extra money. Because it makes no real difference in their world.
  4. And a guest participation event. All are welcome to join in the festivities.
  5. I don't think you need to comment on reliability one way or the other. Just "Please don't wait for us." is sufficient.
  6. I imagine the only thing is to try another upgrade to something that isn't right next to the morgue.
  7. When I finish off the rest of my Thomas Jefferson Lafites in the cellar, I might go slumming and buy the $100K bottle just for giggles.
  8. I didn't want to be the one to say it. You are correct.
  9. But if you do a leveraged buyout of the company, then you could get some benefits. 🙂
  10. Kind of a stressful way to end the trip. But you did get business class; so hopefully once you got onboard you had a mimosa, and the world got better.
  11. I think the car rental or Brightline are good options, if you have sufficient time. Both are going to require you to get from PBI to either the car rental or the train station, then down to Miami, and then either from the train station to the Port, or to the Port and then dropping off the car and returning. Brightline does offer free pickup and drop off if you buy the first class ticket - both PBI and Port of Miami are within the range of their respective train stations. Otherwise, I believe that they have shuttles. https://www.gobrightline.com/mobility
  12. I hope he had a formal harness for gala night.
  13. Be sure to eat some cuy while you are there. It's a specialty.
  14. Tony Soprano says no. I'd listen.
  15. I suppose so. Although one would think that any person with that type of attitude would have been excluded from the guest list a long time ago.
  16. Answer: Because the ship designates certain nights as Formal nights. If the ship didn't make that designation, then I would have no grounds to stand on. There are other cruise lines that have done away with Formal nights; I could hardly complain if people show up to their Main Dining Rooms not in formalwear. Think of it this way: If a friend of yours was getting married, and you received the Invitation to the wedding and it said "Dress: Black Tie", would you show up in casual or informal clothes, or would you honor the desire of your friend to have a special Black Tie wedding and dress appropriately? I fervently hope that you would do the latter. So why, if the ship has designated an evening as Formal, would you deign to wear casual or informal clothes instead? Is the only difference the fact that in one case someone else is paying for the evening, but in the other case you are? The "It's my money, no one can tell me how I dress and what I do" defense is very shallow, in my opinion. The ship is trying to put on a special Formal night for all of their guests - some guests very much appreciate the effort that the ship and the respectful guests who actually take the effort to dress up make to create a very special and rare experience.
  17. If Silversea is going to become a "no dress code" line, I don't see why they would want to invest additional dollars in the decor of their ships and restaurants onboard.
