  1. Well, shoot. I was hoping you’d meet up with my husband there. Plenty more days left though. Crooners is always much more fun anyway.
  2. I would pay for that in a heartbeat. Don’t need the drinks or the desserts, don’t want the exercise classes, but I would love to have a reserved seat in the Princess Theater so that I could enjoy a more leisurely dinner, and coffee afterward, and not have to eat fast and then spend 30 to 45 minutes holding a seat awaiting the start of a show.
  3. Yes, he stayed on at the very last minute. Say hi when you see him.
  4. Your comment has left me curious. On purpose or unintentionally?
  5. We were on the Emerald Princess during Spring Break in 2015 when the ship was doing shorter cruises out of Fort Lauderdale. Oh my, that was entertaining, both on and off the ship. We used ear plugs at night when they rolled into bed about 4am and made sure we weren’t too quiet when we were up and about at 7am. My husband didn’t seem to mind at all. 😉
  6. Yeah…welcome to Princess. As much as some of us detest the app, the staff and crew on board must hate it even more. It puts them right in the middle of the issues and leaves it to them to try to resolve them.
  7. I enjoyed your blog posts very much. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
  8. Is your Ez Air booking Flexible or Restricted? If Flexible, you have until 45 days prior to the flight to make changes or cancel your booking. If the cruise is in March, you’re certainly in the cancellation/ change timeframe.
  9. Please let us know if Princess sells transfers to Hobby. I read on here that they did not, and my DH could not find any info about it from the Shorex Desk (granted, he was a cruise early), so I booked him using a private transfer company with only six reservations left. As a single it was by far the cheaper way to go.
  10. For years on the Emerald Princess, this is exactly how it was done. Disembarkation day breakfast was always in the Botticelli Dining Room.
  11. That’s what it takes, and I applaud you for doing it. I, too, speak up (not a baritone but grew up in a family of boys and learned early how to be heard). It’s not always an issue, but when it is, it can be bad. One very elderly couple, both with walkers, told me they’d been there (mid ship elevator lobby) at least ten minutes and hadn’t made any progress at all.
  12. I’m not sure that’s even legal. That’s like purchasing an item from a retail store where they collect sales tax, and then returning the item but they keep the sales tax and don’t include it in the refund.
  13. I think those of us who are more mobile really need to look out for those passengers to make sure they find a place on elevators. I’m not saying they should push ahead or be given preferential treatment, but unless someone speaks up, they (especially older couples who are both mobility impaired) are often overlooked in the rush for elevators, particularly after theater shows end.
  14. He seems to love the crew, can’t say enough good things about them. However, know that you’re sailing on a full (or nearly full) ship- no surprise, since it’s Christmas- and things are going to feel stretched. He says the food has been good (but then again, he eats my cooking), the portion sizes small (can always get more), the entertainment good and the lines of guests long outside the dining rooms for all three meals of the day on the earlier, more crowded cruises (the current one through the canal is at less than 50% capacity). Pack your patience.
  15. So glad you’re doing this. Thank you for taking your vacation time to share with us. My DH has been on since October 8, but is returning home at the end of the current cruise. He’s certainly been keeping me posted; I’ll enjoy picking up where he leaves off with you. Have a wonderful cruise.
  16. I’ll be heading home to Toledo. Can’t get too much better than that.
  17. Darn those rascals! Best Sanctuary spots, best dining room tables. It’s almost like we need a warm up cruise before the real cruise. If they’re in line ahead of you, just tell them their dog misses them SO MUCH and they’d better return home before the ship sails.
  18. Prepaid tips are definitely refundable. And, unlike refunds that require human intervention, refunds like these (of prepaid items, taxes and port charges, and the portion of the cruise fare not subject to a cancellation penalty) have been getting done on a timely basis (in our case, credited back to our form of payment in less than two weeks).
  19. Ruby Panama Canal is half full right now. The past three Hawaii cruises and Mexico cruise were between 65 and 80% full. The next cruise, a Christmas cruise, will be nearly full. Removing mask and vaccine mandates did not automatically fill the ships.
  20. We had frequent time changes and even a date change on our transpacific cruise. As others have said, just take your phone off automatic time, manually change the time and date as needed and your watch will be fine.
  21. Same. We have no FCDs, but do still take advantage of $1 deposits. I still have hope that the experience and my feelings will change. As some have pointed out, cruise bookings are way up. Pent up demand is a real thing. COVID may not have killed cruising, but COVID, coupled with poor management decisions before, during and after COVID, has killed the Princess cruise experience we used to trust with a boatload (haha) of money every year.
  22. Especially given the Princess history on tracking other things, like FCCs, refunds due, drink packages on board, etc.
  23. He was in a separate quarantine cabin. He could order food and drink but not access his original cabin.
  24. I am really sorry to hear of all the people having issues getting their quarantine FCC. It CAN be handled correctly. Despite the $hitshow that was quarantine on the Ruby in April, DH had his FCC for his 7 days (Day 0 to Day 6) in his Captains Circle account about the same time he was walking from Guest Services back to his cabin (his Medallion had been deactivated while he was quarantined) after he was released. No insurance claim necessary. It should be that easy for everyone.
