  1. I have a small macrame purse I carry on cruises that holds my sunglasses and cell phone. If I had to take a bathroom break, I take my phone out of it and place it predominately on the table next to the drink or food. I’m only gone for a couple of minutes, but it hasn’t failed me yet.
  2. That’s okay. My husband, another good Southern boy, won’t eat shrimp. He said where he grew up they were called “bait”.
  3. I’ve cruised a lot of New Years and have never seen it on a menu. It’s a must for us at home.
  4. There is no other way to watch live TV. We even wait until 30 minutes or so into most sporting events to start watching (the Kentucky Derby excepted).
  5. They do not currently have them on the Ruby Princess.
  6. He was totally unaware they were late leaving Honolulu (if, in fact, they were) as it was scheduled for 11pm and he was already asleep. He’s met old friends on board and is having a great time.
  7. We were lucky to get three milestones recognized. I would be quite happy with breakfast in Sabatini’s for the top three most traveled passengers in lieu of the milestone program.😆🍾🥂
  8. Thank you @tls1007. When I posted this, the ship’s webcam and my Find My Husband app (he’s on board) both showed the ship was in Honolulu. The webcam still shows alongside in a Honolulu, but my husband has moved on. 😆. I was concerned there was an issue, and it’s too early to contact him.
  9. The Ruby should have sailed last night from Honolulu en route to Lihue, Kauai today, but the ship is still alongside in Honolulu at 3:20am HST. Has anyone heard the reason?
  10. I don’t wish to ever sail on one of those ships. Talk about inward focused…. it’s sacrelige. It’s exactly akin to placing cabins around the windows in the buffet. After all, you’re just eating in there, right? No need to see the sea.
  11. The Pacific Princess was our favorite also. We’ve spent over a couple hundred days on that ship. Sure, she had an occasional toilet issue, but we never encountered on lasting more than 3 hours or so. And we used to get chocolates every time we had an issue. We called them toilet chocolates and we kind of looked forward to them. But it was the interactions with the crew on a ship that size that set her apart. DH is currently on the Ruby, and he is sending back pics of waiters we knew from the Pacific that are currently on the Ruby. You don’t ever forget those people. So, like some others here, the older ships are our favorites. The covered pools are a definite plus.
  12. No. It happened to DH just last week. He was in two different cabins in his favorite area of the ship for B2B cruises. Both reservations were marked No Upgrade. I just happened to look at his Medallion app on his phone (to see what Princess was doing with his dining reservations) when I noticed that he had been moved into one cabin for both cruises in an entirely different area. It was a two category upgrade for the first cruise and a lateral move for the second. Spent two hours on Chat with Princess. Got him moved back into his original cabin for the first cruise, and a promise that he would be moved into a different cabin in a different but preferable area than the cabin Princess assigned, but it took so darn long to keep going back and forth to whoever it was being escalated to that that cabin disappeared. Customer disservice is the current Princess slogan.
  13. I stand corrected. I’ve always clicked on Check In, then Print Travel Summary, then Print Luggage Tags. I’ve never noticed it in the upper right of the first screen. Thanks for the information. 🙃
  14. Thank you. Princess really shouldn’t make this process so difficult, but…here we are.
  15. Rather than eliminating the CCL OBC, I suspect Princess might not allow stacking OBC, just as RCCL did. The only one I question is military…would they actually stop allowing it to be combined with CCL or FCD OBCs? Most cruise lines offer a reduced fare on at least some sailings for military. If Princess were to do away with the military OBC, they’d be eliminating any military benefit.
  16. I agree. I was going to add that I only use my ten year old Toshiba laptop at home to do large spreadsheets and taxes, otherwise I’m on my iPad, and then I remembered I’ve been thinking hard about buying a new MacBook Pro because…well, I’m not sure why I feel I need it. So never mind. 😆
  17. I saw that with the Majestic Princess transpacific cruise. I read on FB (so this is not confirmed) that passengers have to self test after every port, and show their “stick” to their cabin steward. Princess says it’s because of the length of the cruise. I think some people are going to be in for a shock when they test positive and are quarantined. And I can’t help but wonder if the ship has enough resources to meet their needs while they are.
  18. @Astro Flyer Thanks very much for the Gay Courter book recommendation. I read it straight through today and 1) found it really informative and 2) found it very fun and interesting. I would never have known about it but for your recommendation.
  19. Well then, purchase the stock with abandon! Unfortunately, I am well aware of capital loss carry forwards.😆 And there’s the whole short-term vs. long term thing too. But, really, the lower the stock price goes, the less downside there is to owning it. However, placing large deposits on CCL cruises far into the future is another matter.
  20. You’re right. I consider large deposits and cruises paid in full more than 90 days prior to sailing to be a greater risk. At least CCL losses can be netted against other capital gains (if there are any this year). Unused FCCs for cancelled cruises are pretty much worthless.
  21. DH has cruised 101 days on Princess post-COVID and there wasn’t a single day of it that he didn’t hear the same thing at least once, and often much often than that. He’s even heard it from the super duper grandest elite of the most traveled Princess passengers. Obviously, Princess has heard it too, and decided those guests are not worth retaining. But they thank us for the extended use of our money! 😆
  22. Carolyn, I’m very relieved to hear you are safe. Thank you for the update. Property damage can be repaired. People damage cannot. 39 years ago this week we were honeymooning at Tween Waters Inn on Captiva. I fear it may be gone now, but our memories will remain forever.
  23. Absolutely right. And I am a consumer. And now (even without the potential milestone dropping), I’m a consumer analyzing my vacation spending without loyalty to Princess. I know what I like (smaller ships, unique itineraries). I know that Princess offers neither of these. I have no doubt that Princess’s new target market will step up to fill in what we used to spend. And life goes on.
  24. I agree. Captain Paulo Rivera is one of our favorites too. You can always tell when a captain genuinely cares about this guests, and he really does. I’m not at all surprised he proactively mentioned the ship condition at the meet and greet. But it does sound like the same issues we’ve heard time and again since the start up. Safe batteries, rusted drain pipes under bathroom sinks…we had the former multiple times and the latter on the Emerald on its first cruise back in service. These things are easy to fix given time and resources.
