  1. We often remember back to when we went to Cozumel for diving in the 90s. We didn’t leave our resort two days of the week, called (with a shudder) cruise ship day. There was one pier in town and ships could only come two days a week. And, you’re right, the reefs were in pristine condition.
  2. Oh, I’m very certain it goes into the tip account, whatever balance sheet that resides on. 🙄
  3. If it’s less than $25, you must collect it as Guest Services before leaving the ship as they don’t appear to send out checks for less than $25.
  4. I had to phone Princess last Saturday with an issue that had to be resolved by Monday. My expectations were low, which, as people on this forum have told me, is the right attitude to take when dealing with Princess, but I knew it would be tough to get through on Monday and took a chance. I didn’t have to wait long, and if the agent was in the Philippines, she was totally understandable with no background noise. She had to escalate the issue which was done while I held and before I hung up I could see that it had been resolved. Maybe calling on the weekend is the trick?
  5. Yes, I think either of these would work. Thank you! I am checking with the hotel to verify they have refrigerators in the rooms, and, if they do, I’ll have about 20 hours at the most to keep them cold with ice packs.
  6. In my experience, TAs that steer you toward a particular policy are well compensated for those sales, vs. getting 10-18% of an PVP sale. And what people need from travel insurance is such an individual thing that, as you point out, this is not a case of one size fits all.
  7. Do you recall the charge on a daily basis, assuming the Plus package and also qualifying for 50% off?
  8. I’m not an expert on this, but I was under the impression that if you underinsured, it would negate your policy, even if you did not purchase the plan for trip cancellation/ interruption coverage. If you have to file a claim, you’ll need to provide documentation of the cost of your trip, and it will be fairly obvious.
  9. We will be on a cruise in October that had multiple price drops before final payment (two in one day!). We booked in one category, ended up in a higher category for about 60% of our original price. We still have the original booking number. My concern was our EZ Air flights, as we had chosen seats we particularly wanted for an overnight flight, but they stayed in place. If you have to cancel and re-book, that’s not usually the case.
  10. That’s very interesting. I’m glad you were well taken care of. Although others here have had different experiences, we never had to submit my husband’s on board medical expenses to Medicare. And he also has Tricare for Life, but we’ve never gotten that far. He was also a federal employee and his BCBS is primary, and they’ve always paid in total his out of country (cruise ship) medical expenses.
  11. Also, cause a great deal of additional stress for your spouse at a time when they might not have the capacity to deal with it. We make sure we travel with two cards, generally giving us more than $50K credit limit. That kind of credit limit is ridiculous and we would love to get it reduced, but it is exactly for cases like this that we keep it.
  12. It’s the very first thing they tell you when you walk into the Medical Center on board. Of course, if you’re unconscious or having a major medical emergency, your other options for care are extremely limited. But I do wonder what percentage of onboard medical expenses get reimbursed before they ever get sent to a travel insurance company. I know that Medicare doesn’t pay out of country, but many/most other medical insurances do.
  13. Has anyone had to travel with serum tears, and, if so, how did you keep them frozen or cold? I searched on Amazon and found lots of insulin coolers but the shape isn’t quite right. These are two tiny eyedropper bottles, about 0.5 ounce each. I thought I’d just go without them for a month but I saw my ophthalmologist last week and he advised against it. I will need to keep them cold for four days, but will start out with them frozen, so that takes care of the first day.
  14. I agree. I had an issue one time where Stockperks said they had applied the OBC but it never showed up. I was able to forward that email to Princess and it was immediately applied. I’m not certain though if they keep a statement on file, or just use your brokerage account info to go into the account each time. I suppose that could be tested by changing your brokerage account password but I don’t feel compelled to worry about it. For those concerned about privacy, just move your CCL stock into its own account.
  15. Just coming back here to report that I received an email this morning that the OBC had been applied to our booking less than 12 hours after I submitted it.
  16. I just submitted for a redemption through StockPerks this evening. I immediately received an email that they would let me know the OBC had been applied within 5 days.
  17. Thank you for the update. I’m sure those were some stressful weeks waiting for this to get fully resolved.
  18. If you have other ways to use the OBC, and if loyalty days and/or cruises matter to you, Princess is running a special promotion for cruises that begin from August 1 to December 1. If you purchase Princess Plus at least two days before the start of your cruise you’ll get double cruises and double cruise days for that cruise. @trbarton, see above. Unless your cruise falls in that timeframe, I’d wait until you’re onboard.
  19. You’re forgetting the unlimited exercise classes. Why does everyone always forget the exercise classes?
  20. But on a TA there are so many sea days that the unlimited casual dining is appealing also.
  21. Thanks for this! Please report back with the results of your research. I am trying to justify an upgrade to premium but on a 21 night cruise with the same two specialty dining meals it’s hard to do, so I’m simultaneously trying to decide if I can live with plus and a few glasses at extra cost.
  22. A Royal Caribbean employee had quite a scheme going by selling cruise dates and guests addresses to a bad guy network. House break in’s and thefts resulted. It’s been a few years, and that’s all I remember.
  23. I think you’re fine, too. I locked all of mine 6 or 8 years ago when it was free but it was announced that would change. I did it on the websites and got long PIN codes that are required to unlock. The unlock-then freeze I just did in Experion was also able to be done on the website. Now that mine is frozen and not locked, it becomes a very simple process. To get to it on Experian, I go to Manage Credit Lock, which tries to sell you the $4.99 a month plan, and scroll to the bottom and click on Security Freeze.
  24. Has anyone seen any recognition or admission by Princess that this occurred? Any place they’re giving passengers a heads-up to watch for suspicious activity?
