  1. Your thread title made me laugh out loud. I will now always refer to Chic Night as Fancy Pants Night 🤣 Thanks! cjr
  2. One of the things that took getting used to on our first cruise was ordering a glass of wine or beer somewhere and just carrying it around the ship or back to our room. Same is true of adding something to a plate in the main dining room, such as cookies or cheese, and carrying it back to our room. So, yes, you can and should do this. Similarly, depending on your beverage package, you should be able to bring water or soda back to your room that you acquire from a bar or restaurant. As mentioned, however, you should take advantage of bringing aboard as many bottles of wine, or bottles of water or soda, as you can when you arrive. Finally, on our cruises, we've purchased full-blown bottles of booze on excursions and/or in port, passed them through the scanner (within backpacks), and have not had them confiscated until the end of the cruise, i.e., we carried them back to our stateroom. Perhaps we were just lucky (we didn't drink them anyway), but I don't think Celebrity would worry about any soda you bring back from a port. Hope this helps and that you enjoy your cruise! cjr
  3. We received ours a day or two after the January 14 "expected" deadline. No complaints. cjr
  4. We love Celebrity but its failure to show us -- plain and simple -- everything included in our current booking irritates me to no end. Whether logged into my online account, via the app, or any of the "paperwork" we receive, it's tiresome to need to discover some magic "online navigation sequence" to find this info and, even then, it doesn't seem comprehensive. Similarly, the obscure TA gobbledygook coding on our booking confirmations is useless and only triggers thoughts about choosing a more-transparent cruise line next time. If you want people to book online, Celebrity, then make it easy and don't punish them for doing so. Currently, logged into my account, I see endless offers to upgrade my WiFi, my booze package, etc., even though we have premium packages booked. It took me forever to find a single place confirming that gratuities were also part of our upcoming reservation. Last month, I also selected a bunch of specific options to personalize our Retreat-level suite when we board, courtesy of a Celebrity email, but there's no acknowledgement of my selections, and I know better than to seek that info in my account. Guess we'll find out when we board... If I'm missing something here, please enlighten me. Thanks, cjr
  5. Did you book this excursion through Celebrity or independently? And when you say you won't arrive until 10 a.m., does that mean when the ship docks? I ask because if you book an excursion through Celebrity, then those things are typically coordinated, i.e., Celebrity shouldn't offer an excursion booking time before the ship even docks. I'm not saying it's impossible (stuff happens!) but that's been our experience booking excursions through the cruise line. That said, even if your ship arrived at 10:00 a.m., you likely won't disembark quickly enough for a 10:15 excursion. In addition, I would not assume your excursion will automatically be adjusted. Instead, I would check with your excursion provider to clarify your arrival time vs. its departure time and, if necessary, rebook or cancel for a refund. Hope this helps and that you have a fabulous cruise! cjr
  6. Toward the end of our cruise in April, we again booked via "Future Cruise/Book Later" while onboard. We paid $100 each at the time and had six months to actually book a cruise, which we did October 03. The "deal" does change in our experience in terms of duration (i.e., you must book within X months...) and OBC per room level, but the down payment has stayed the same for us. Definitely worth exploring this opportunity while you're onboard and, even if you're on the fence, there's no risk because your deposit is fully refunded if you don't book anything by the deadline. Hope this helps and hope you have a blast on your cruise! cjr
  7. I've shared our experience on other threads about this, as well, but we've used the "green" program on our last two Celebrity cruises, both at Retreat level. We have another one booked in May 2024 and will "go green" then, as well. At this level, all you actually give up is the second room cleaning each day. We found this preferable because we don't tend to make a pigsty of the place 🐷 , and we tend to leave for the day/arrive for the evening/night at widely disparate times. Thus, a second cleaning would likely prove A) unnecessary and/or B) inconvenient for us when we wanted to return. That said, going "green" does not affect your turn-down service, if that matters to you. (I don't care for that.) Moreover, even if you hang up your towel(s) to dry, the staff always replace it anyway. Just "programmed" into their thinking, I suspect. I do appreciate the additional CC points I receive for participating, but even if Celebrity didn't do that, I'd still "go green" for the reasons I've stated. cjr
  8. Yes, this is still how the main dining room works. We've never experienced a problem ordering our next round of adult beverages, whether wine, spirits, etc. Always plenty of attentive servers around us. Hope you enjoy the Silhouette and your upcoming cruise! cjr
  9. My wife and I enjoy our cocktails and beers, too. I definitely recommend purchasing the Premium package when you book, or at least upgrading before your cruise. Should be a better deal that upgrading onboard. Others here might be able to suggest if/when you might find a booking deal given the Black Friday "sales" going on. Bar service on our past two Celebrity cruises (both on Silhouette) was fantastic. There are many watering holes and we tried several during the initial days of our first cruise before finding one or two that fit our "style" with friendly, attentive bartenders and the right vibe. Some feel more formal, some more casual, so it's definitely worthwhile to look around and find the spot(s) you like. Hope this helps, cjr
  10. I tried that. This is what I see... Thanks for your reply, though. cjr
  11. I wish I could up-vote your post, @duncrieviedude. We have our third Celebrity cruise booked and one of the things that's irritated me each time is how I can't view a simple, plain-English breakdown of what's included in the cruise we officially booked. Instead, both on the Celebrity site and in the app, I continually find offers to "upgrade" my drinks/WiFi packages even though we have an AI premium package. When trying to find my what's-included info on the booking-confirmation doc, it appears to be disseminated using meaningless, DOS-like, travel-agent-ese coding. Attached is the order history I've only just found thanks to your post. That said, what should be shown as "Premium Drink Package" remains unlabeled for some frustrating reason. Am I missing some magical method of seeing exactly what my next, officially booked Celebrity cruise includes and, again, written plainly? Or is this just another area that needs improvement? Regardless, thank you for your post. cjr
  12. For what it's worth, I add my thoughts here. Agree, disagree, flame away, or ignore as you wish. First, criticizing a for-profit company for not helping its customers always buy its product/service at the lowest cost? 🤔 As I posted earlier, caveat emptor. Second, I do think Celebrity, as well as many other businesses in many other industries, may validly be criticized for "obfuscation" -- perhaps better expressed as the "marketing shell game" or a basic lack of transparency -- via promos that don't actually amount to significant savings regardless of which "deal" floats your boat. Trying to track costs today vs. yesterday and/or comparing one deal to another makes my head spin. "40% off both vs. 75% off the second?" 🤕 That's just the world we live in these days and, again, caveat emptor. Cruising represents a discretionary expense, unlike a mortgage, food, etc. Some might consider the cruise cost a trifle, others, significant. At the end of the day, and always trying to find the "best" price before committing, my wife and I just feel happy cruising is an option for us at all. If the margin of what we spent was so narrow that inevitable fluctuations might potentially spoil the whole thing, we'd just chuck cruising altogether. 🙃 cjr
  13. Yes, and I receive them, too. But the CC point emails are not something separate. Good luck. cjr
  14. Respectfully, the CC emails are part of the promo emails that Celebrity sends, not something separate and distinct on their own. When I signed up for the CC points thing, I started getting Celebrity promo emails and "unsubscribed." Eventually, I looked into it and realized the CC opportunities are sprinkled into the many general promo emails that arrive in my inbox. You need to look for them in the midst of the rest of their marketing emails. CC opps don't arrive as often as they did in 2021/22, however; now, there seems to be one opportunity every two months. I'm expecting the next one either late this month or in December. I'd watch this thread because people will post info about it a.s.a.p.! 😁 Hope this helps, cjr
  15. I recommend booking in advance. I booked a surprise massage for my wife for our cruise earlier this year and, because it was in advance, could select the date and time that fit her/our schedule. Once onboard, the available slots are far fewer. cjr
  16. Just received this as well. Will be checking email tomorrow 😝 cjr
  17. Not sure what you mean about the "Ship Icon in the upper right"? On my iPhone, using the current version of the app, the ship icon is on the left at the top. That said, my next cruise (May '24) shows up and if I select "Cruises" in the bottom menu bar, I can select other available cruises. To "select a different cruise," I can select the "person" icon in the upper right and that option's available in the "Your Sailing" section of the screen. Hope this helps, cjr
  18. Received my 3 CC points per a Celebrity "From the Bridge" email yesterday p.m. I wasn't expecting them until November 14, per the "Q&A With Laura" CC opportunity email last month, so this was a pleasant surprise. cjr
  19. This was exactly our experience with both levels of WiFi -- basic was nothing but frustration; premium was terrific, and definitely amazing when out at sea. Glad you upgraded @hankandteri! cjr
