  1. I think they ask when there's a large group of people around and they can't distinguish who is who. I'm pretty recognizable in a group of people and was rarely asked for my room number when we were onboard last month. My husband has many doppelgängers and was often asked. That said, I would rather they asked for your last name instead of your room number because I don't want everyone to know where I'm staying.
  2. Does anyone know if the Sun Princess will have an area for the kid's clubs? I looked at the plans on CruiseMapper.com but didn't see it near the fitness center, which is where it was on the Sky Princess. Looked on other decks and couldn't find it.
  3. Interesting! On the Sky Princess at the beginning of March Madness didn’t show any games, not even in the casino where they were showing sports - but it was a minor tennis tournament. I asked the casino bartender and he said they wouldn’t be showing basketball. Thank goodness for SiriusXM so my husband could listen to the games. I did read somewhere else on here some ships showed the Final Four games.
  4. I finally found another photo with a sign! This is Blueberry Pudding. The sign says it's lactose-free and gluten-free.
  5. Oh wow! My family was on the last Caribbean trip in mid-April before the Sky Princess went across the Atlantic. We went to Bistro Sur la Mer on my husband and I’s 22nd wedding anniversary. They were wonderful and the entire staff sang happy anniversary to us.
  6. At the coffee bar in the buffet area I had an excellent honey lavender latte. Wish I had gotten more than one. In the MDR one night I had a coffee with Kahlua after dinner which hit the spot. And I didn’t have a bad mojito once.
  7. Once you’re on board, take a look at the Crown Grill Lounge. There’s foot traffic going through, but didn’t seem to be used a lot during the day, except for some people reading or playing cards. I didn’t see any official events taking place there on the Sky Princess, even at night.
  8. I had the prime rib one night in the MDR on the Sky Princess. It was excellent! And huge - spilt it with my daughter.
  9. My teenager said the answer to your question is “everything!” 😂 Everything we ordered a few weeks ago was excellent. Sabatini’s was our favorite specialty restaurant (we also went to Crown Grill and Bistro Sur la Mer). Photos are below but some of what we ate at Sabatini’s included the Ribollita soup, the fried rice balls, Burrata Caprese, Fritto Misto all’s Veneziana, Lobster Tortelloni, Trofine Con Pesto (this was the least favorite dish of the night), Eggplant Parm and Filetto di Branzino.
  10. I was on the Sky Princess for its last Caribbean week before it did the TA. Wifi for my husband was excellent. He could get his SiriusXM all day long and always was able to order on the Princess app. For me it was spotty. I sometimes got Sirius, had some trouble with the app when ordering (didn’t always show all the options he could see), could get on Gmail but could not download books or magazines from my library (lesson learned). Texting was perfectly fine. Not sure it makes a difference but he uses an Android and I use an iPhone.
  11. Here’s a menu from one of the MDR on the Sky Princess a few weeks ago. It was a Caribbean cruise, not a transatlantic.
  12. Ship - Sky Princess Class - Royal Deck - 12/Aloha Cabin # - A639 Category - balcony Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern - starboard Connects With Cabin # - n/a Accessible - no Quiet - yes, very Balcony Size - average View - excellent and unobstructed Privacy Issues - none Wind - none Soot - none Problems - could feel the movement of the ship on days it was rough at a sea but otherwise no problems Comments - Close to the laundry, but couldn’t hear anyone going in and out. Close to the elevators at the back of the ship, but if you are going to deck 6 towards the front, you need to take the mid-ship elevators or if you take the back elevators, get off on 7, walk through the Crown Grill lounge and then take the stairs down a level. We used one of the pulldown beds. It wasn’t too intrusive, but in the mornings, since we used the one closest to the balcony, had to be careful walking around it. Plenty of room in the cabin for 2 adults and 1 teen.
  13. Yes! And you can't use a USB splitter to charge a phone and tablet at the same time because it's like a trickle charge.
  14. Yes! It was the 4-piece nigiri combination of tuna, salmon, hamachi and scallop. I should have gotten the 8-piece combo because it was so fresh and delicious.
  15. Unfortunately, none of us remember, sorry. I took pics of menus but not of the names of items in some of the cases or at the buffet. We think it's a blueberry pudding type dish.
  16. The food was so good. Hated to come back home and think about going grocery shopping tomorrow lol! Our 14 yr old tried escargot for the first time on the ship and loved it.
  17. I got off the Sky Princess today. I took a bunch of food pics for my Instagram account. Not sure if I have the energy to post a thread here and describe everything. But maybe my kid will remind me what the items are 🤔 Here are some of the ones I took.
  18. I just got off a different Princess ship and we used the drop down bed for our teen. You wouldn’t want it for a toddler. There are rails, but not to the end of the bed. We used to travel with a toddler cot when ours was little. It’s lightweight, doesn’t take up too much room and can be stored in the closet out of the way when the child isn’t sleeping.
  19. Take the Brightline high speed train. There’s a station in downtown Ft. Lauderdale and another 2 miles from the Port of Miami. They have a door-to-door service that picks you up, takes you to the station and then when you get off, takes you to the port. The trains are new and clean and they serve snacks and drinks onboard.
  20. How do you know what terminal your ship will be leaving from and returning to at Port Everglades?
  21. This is good to know, thanks. My family is headed on the Sky Princess a week from Saturday. Honestly an extra day at sea wouldn’t be a bad thing IMO. I’m with you on extra time to read, relax and have a nice drink.
  22. Stay downtown or in Ybor City. Plenty of hotels with those options and easy to access plenty to do, including walking Riverwalk, visiting the art museum or aquarium and going to Sparkman Wharf where there’s outdoor eating venues. If you stay in Ybor you can take the free streetcar into downtown, which takes about 10-15 minutes.
  23. Search on Etsy for ‘cruise door signs.’ Lots of creative options outside of a 8.5x11” sheet and they ship quickly. But if you’re creative and handy online, you could design your own on the Canva website using their flyer template.
  24. Etsy has downloadable .pdf files that are “gift certificates” for trips. There are even some for cruises. Maybe create a trivia quiz for her of places the cruise is headed and let her take it in the car on the way to the passport office. Then when she answers everything have her parents give her the gift certificate telling her where she’s going and that she’s going with Grandma/Grandpa. I would suggest her parents tell her that she’s getting the passport at least a few days before so she can pick out an outfit she wants to wear. She’ll have this passport til she’s 18 and might want to get a little dressed up. If she asks why just say she’ll find out in the car.
