  1. I'm not complaining, just trying to understand it. For example, I don't see a situation where guests 1&2 want specialty dining but would leave out guests 3+ (except MAYBE if it's parents 1+2, children are 3). Even then, I imagine it's probably the common case where all passengers in a cabin would want the same level of dining package. Also I suppose I am comparing haven to star class on RCL, where everything is included in base level fare for all passengers in a cabin (wifi, dining, premium drinks, etc.). The fact that such high-level suites still have all this additional information to sort through and plan is a bit of a downside comparatively. I think the thing that is throwing me off is the wording centered around guests 1&2. When trying to book and ensure everyone has the same level of benefits, it certainly isn't straighforward to figure out how to accomplish that even for someone who has experience booking things on other lines.
  2. Just booked my first cruise on NCL viva, done mostly RCL/X before. It seems like even the haven is not very inclusive like the equivalents on other lines? Free at sea appears to only be geared towards guests 1&2, with upcharges that give some of those things to guests 3+, and even free at sea is not really unlimited (drinks is basic package, wifi is a limited amount of minutes, only a couple nights of dining). Am I missing something or is NCL just extremely different when it comes to how they structure packages and high level suites?
  3. From what I read they were given a JS, just one that happened to be an obstructed view aft balcony. They originally booked JS, so they were given the same category.
  4. As best I can tell, they are licensing the Andrew Lloyd-Webber version of the show, it isn't new. It's run on the west end before. I would think they are able to get a favorable deal from the very useful group since I'd bet they also license CATS.

  6. Depends on the ship and the exact suite. I.e. grand and grand loft are different, quantum and oasis class are in the royal suite program, others are not, etc.
  7. I don't have any major expenses besides a mortgage, I eat cheap and don't go out much. So on the rare occasion I can get all of the people I care about together at the same time, I want that experience to be as seamless and awesome as possible, so dropping for star class isn't a question. I also think there's an element of "once you have experienced it you don't want to go back".
  8. I believe those are usually USDA/CBP detection dogs for foods - think fruit/veggies/seeds that sort of thing and are more concerned about agricultural/environmental issues, not drugs. They usually catch somebody with a bananna or something.
  9. This alone would make me never want to sail carnival - I don't even use illicit substances but the idea of being lined up like that is ridiculous and insulting to me
  10. Looks like Grandeur is running this on 08/25/24
  11. Depends on how many people you have in the cabin and what you can get it for. 14 people in the 4br villa definitely can come out cheaper than a la carte, as can aqua suites for a decent price.
  12. It's ususally more like there is at least one open 24 h, but I always see them cleaning them at night. I assume they order the cleaning/draining so at least 1 is open all the time.
  13. Any word on what kind of discount they offer for booking something like that compared to sticker?
  14. Really, there hasn't been a single sailing in like 6 months where suites were all booked? Surprising, perhaps something to do with why RCL is dragging feet on releasing where spectrum is going next year...
  15. Exactly what njkruzer said, the menu doesn't change. At any other specialty I can order something different my second time around, with chef's table it's going to be the exact same meal.
  16. Curious if they try to shove an extra couple in with the group of 14 I am with in december on Anthem.
  17. Star class it's included but the wine pairing is like $25/pp additional Not sure about substitutions. I personally don't think it's worth doing twice on a single voyage. It's the only resturaunt besides izumi habachi (not on anthem anyways they only have sushi) that Genie reccomends you book in advance and they reimburse the charge once onboard.
  18. Sounds like it isn't going in for drydock unscheduled, just that they are extending the one currently running.
  19. Worst part was is that the attacker was not escorted off at the next port.
  20. Assuming they make friends on the boat, perhaps an ice cream social on the balcony or something during the aqua show?
  21. Cruisemapper seems to still show them beelining straight for orlando....
  22. The ones that made zenith on that cruise? That was my parents lol. Didn't realize there were so few zenith members. Actually, now that I think about it, they were on the new years cruise. So I guess they were one of the 7.
  23. I think you can get it on RCL if you are in star class, which is the rough equivalent to both of those other products.
  24. I think it's 48 hour notice no penalty cancellation. You should be asking the excursion desk onboard, not a forum.
  25. I know what the differences technically are, I guess I phrased it badly. My point is that if you're going to pay for a suite, it isn't usually that much more to go star, so why wouldn't you?
