  1. Our Aug 2023 cruise just started offering some bookable excursions for CocoCay. We're treating all our of kids and their spouses to a cruise, so I've been considering getting the overwater cabana. The CocoBeach Club ones with the full day pass have just come up to book @ $3,499. Sheesh. Yes, I know.. they will price what the market will bear, but I've never seen those priced THAT high. By contrast, our March cruise has them priced at $1,799, which is also very high, but seems typical. I get it - lots of variables - how many ships at port, how many pax, how many are available, etc etc. And yes, I know there are plenty of included (no extra cost) places to park ourselves for the day, but I'm OK with paying for something like this since there are 8 adults, and the space would be great. But, not @ $3,499. Do these ranges seem typical to those who've been to CocoCay several times? I don't have a lot of data, since I've only been once, and have 2 more booked.
  2. It's not the "moving" part that's the problem, it's just getting enough satellites in the sky. Starlink are low-orbit satellites that "paint the sky" with coverage. Just like your dish at home.. it's picking up signals from more than just 1 satellite because they are not stationary relative to the earth.
  3. disappointing... I came here to read best comments from a crew member... πŸ˜‰ Best comment for me is: Welcome Aboard!
  4. I love booking Aft JS. Wake views are the best views. And the balcony is much bigger.
  5. Sorta.. It's very logical, but perhaps you take exception to the estimated "worth" of the "included" items? Eg - if I buy nothing onboard, and upgrade nothing, my cruise fare includes some assigned worth for each meal (for discussion's sake, let's say it's $10 for dinner). So, if I buy the the upcharge JR meal @ $15, then it's logical that the cruiseline is saying that they believe it's actually worth $25.
  6. I can still see it in my planner. I can still see it on one of the Travel agent websites. I have 4 cabins booked on that one.
  7. correct me if I am wrong, but Royal uses dynamic pricing for these things. At first, costs are low, but as the supply dries up, prices are driven up automatically. There are exceptions like special sales, etc. So... a few people would have paid close to this price to drive it up so high.
  8. We love UDPs and almost always buy them, but don't be so quick to dismiss the MDR food - it's actually quite good - FAR above "Golden Corral"
  9. I just saw a crazy price for a 7 day cruise on the Anthem sailing in March 2023. $486 pp (after $175 OBC is factored) for a 7 day balcony. The cruise is no longer available through the Royal website, but some agencies still have inventory. The agent told me the balcony is obstructed because it's a "Cove" balcony, but in trying to find photos and videos of the deck 6 balconies (specifically, cabin 6604), I see no cove balconies - only a standard balcony with the tops of the lifeboats causing obstructions. Can anyone confirm this? For that price, I'm still doing it, even if obstructed. I can drive to NJ in 7 hours, and even though the first and last day of the cruise will be chilly (March), it's a great price for a great ship. Looking forward to info from those who know. Thanks in advance!
  10. tough to keep up.... But this is welcomed news!! Q - I have a grandchild who is currently 4, but turning 5 before the cruise who is not yet vaxxed. Everyone else is... he'll need a neg test, or get his vax's complete - correct? 6 night cruise.
  11. Don't forget to wear them to the windjammer for breakfast. πŸ˜‰
  12. Pinnacle just happens. It's the journey, and not the destination. When it happens... - cool - enjoy the perks. But cruising "to get to pinnacle" probably isn't a thing until you are a handful of points away.
  13. oh boy.... Many couples (esp if you've been married for a while) refer to themselves as the royal "we". You must be fun at parties, or does this pet peeve not manifest itself in the verbal world?
  14. Is the cruise ongoing? I've had items delivered later in the cruise even though the description says it will be in the cabin on embarkation day.
  15. Ah, the points game is not only for the retired!!! I've spent a lot of time analyzing the bang-for-the-buck on all different types of cards and rewards. The conclusion I have come to (and it was VERY obvious) for my travel preferences was to only use points for flights. Nothing else was even close to being worth saving points for. I'd never use points for cruising as the points/dollar ratios were not worth it. YMMV
  16. Those standard balconies are almost all the same. The exceptions are those on the hump, or those on the aft. So, you can find Youtube videos for that same category, and it will be the same.
  17. hmm, I've been on several (7-8?) RC cruises, and I've never heard of this before, nor do I remember seeing any ducks. I've only cruised on the older ships (Freedom class and older), so maybe it's a new ship thing? It's fun and quirky.. I might try it.
  18. Or in line for a Windjammer breakfast
  19. Does it work for you right now? I think it might be an active problem, not one from earlier today. I can't see anything on my screen once I select a cruise date
  20. Hmmm? Interesting. How do they figure that one out? Res#1 - 1 adult + 1 kid Res#2 - 1 adult + 2 kids But how do they actually assign both res to the same cabin# ? In my case, it doesn't help me much, since I need 3 ppl to book a corner aft cabin (not 2 ppl, and not 4 ppl), so the 2nd reservation would be a solo... Res#1 - 1 adult + 2 kids Res #2 - 1 adult. I'd like to learn more - I've never heard this before.
  21. Call me crazy πŸ™‚ But this is a dream of ours. All our grown kids have kids of their own, and DW and I have decided to fund a big 4 cabin family cruise. Families consist of: Cabin 1: DW and I, 10yo (grandaughter) Cabin 2: Mom & Dad, 6yo Cabin 3: Mom, Dad, 4 yo, 2 yo Cabin 4: Mom, Dad, 3 yo, 1 yo Mariner of the Seas Cabin 1 is a corner Aft on deck 7 (HUGE balcony) Cabins 2,3,4 are all interiors nearby on deck 7 With 2 of the kids being babies, Mom& Dad have said they would probably have them sleep in their big bed. I have no problem paying the full fare for the baby, but will RC allow us to book 4 ppl in a triple cabin if one of the kids is an infant? (My motivation is I could possibly snag another corner aft balcony since they sleep 3 but not 4)
  22. We always bring snacks. Sure, we could grab more food from the Cafe, or dining room, or Ben & Jerry, etc.. but, if you have a preference for a particular snack - bring it in your suitcase. For me, I usually pack Wine Gums & Chocolate coated sponge toffee - things I love, but don't buy very often except on vacation πŸ™‚ So, yup.. lots of food onboard, but just not the right kind for my sweet tooth. πŸ˜‰
