  1. Correct. I was going to give the clue of suburb in Adelaide if nobody guessed it. @MareBlue your turn.
  2. yes, thanks for giving it to me despite my typo 😀
  3. Hmm, an outback town somewhere. Cooper Pedy?
  4. so is it in SA or on the southern coast of one of the other states?
  5. Right - so it is in Australia but not the East, West or North coast. Which leaves the south coast. * picks random town on SA coast line* Port Pirie.
  6. let's clarify if we are in Australia first. (picture really isn't giving us much to go on)
  7. Yes I know. My post you quoted was in direct response to a post mentioning fine print in Scenic literature. Yes as I already said, perhaps Scenic is different. It must be since shorts and jeans at dinner were commonplace. And Uniworld in Europe is different to Uniworld on the Nile since CDNPolar reported most men on that Uniworld cruise wore shorts at dinner., I also already said: So feel free to ignore my comments about my experience if they are not relevant.
  8. I dont recall anything i n the fine print re shorts - must have been very fine because I read everything obsessively - but certainly reality, not paper, said otherwise - and as previously mentioned, aprox 1/4 of men on any given evening would be wearing shorts to dinner. Would of been very strange if anyone had complained and 1/4 of men were turned away.🤪 Whether that is because Scenic majority of guests are Australian or why I do not know - but it certainly was the case. However OP is going on Uniworld and if Uniworld is different then that is what they will need to follow.
  9. So Uniworld is different to Scenic then. Certainly was allowed and quite common on our cruise.
  10. Unless Uniworld dress code is very different to Scenic dress code, which I doubt - on our Scenic Europe river cruise, jeans at dinner were quite common as were shorts. It was warm weather (early September) and I estimate aprox 1/4 of the men were in shorts for any given dinner Not skimpy gym type shorts of course - but regular almost knee length cargo types and similar. Also t-shirts were commonly worn - again, nice neat ones., not gym wear type ones. Similar observation to CDNPolar.
  11. there is a chair i n the general balcony cabins. One night my husband had room service for dinner - the butler set it up o n the little table attached to the wall I guess would be bit squashy for 2 people - I imagine you would bring a chair i n from the balcony and use the balcony table for other person (but I went to dining room as usual so I didnt find that out) I guess you would top up your own water glass fro m the water container you have in your room - and just have the one glass of wine each that was brought with dinner - or open the one i n the bottle in mini bar fridge if you want more.
  12. These things are not Viking issues - they are general characteristics of river cruises - yes of course there will be other people at your table, or at least very closely adjacent and private dinners are not going to happen, everyone has dinner in one sitting in one place (unless you use room service) and meals have limited and defined hours, the dining room isnt open all day On some ships there is a cafe open all day for light snacks - not sure if Viking is one of them but surely you could have found this out before going and yes entertainment is limited - we enjoyed some fun things like quizzes after dinner - but generally there is no razzamatazz. If you find that boring, river cruising is perhaps not for you - but it isnt specific to Viking - and again is something you could easily have found out before going.
  13. I have no idea but it looks an old mining site in middle of nowhere - maybe Cooper Pedy??
  14. I know my answer was wrong - but just wanted t o share this picture from the collection at South Kolan. Clever play on words - from Kenny Rogers song, of course
