  1. yes, well done, I didnt think that would go so easily.
  2. another one I would never have got without a clue from Mike. Next one.....
  3. yes, interesting stab - like always is when people guess something a long way from the answer - as I have done guessing something in Iceland was somewhere in the South Pacific 🤣 More so to me this time because it is where I actually live. Anyway your second guess was right - it is in the Perth Mint, demonstration of gold ingot pouring.
  4. I would go in Europe summer - I much prefer warm weather and even summer is not hot compared to what I am used to at home We went in late September/Oct , (similar 14 day trip with Scenic) was bit cheaper then compared to July/August, weather was still quite warm, short sleeves every day, we were lucky we had no issues with water levels and the only place that was crowded was Rudesheim, they had some festival on which ballooned the crowds
  5. ^^ well that is an interesting answer - I actually live in Whyalla and have not thought of putting a picture of the steelworks. It is not there.
  6. We had a photo of Cowra gardens recently I'm going to try Liliuokalani gardens in Hawaii.
  7. what does PW'ing stand for? You are on a cruise- men (and women) are going to have toes showing. That's just life You don't see them when people are seated at meals though.
  8. I think title of OP rather than " Why the Debate? Are Pants Really That Challenging?" should be "Why the Debate - Other people dress differently to me - is that really so challenging to accept?"
  9. That's fine - I dont think anybody is saying anyone else has to wear shorts if they dont want to. But you not doing so, doesn't mean nobody else should.
  10. I guess that depends on the time and place and attitude of grandma. My father is a great grandfather - we all certainly wear shorts going to his place. In fact he wears them himself.
  11. Wearing it at breakfast makes more sense to me. People don't view breakfast as a dress up affair like perhaps dinner is and they are going outside after breakfast and have put their hat on for the day.
  12. oh I didnt mean it was a random place - I meant I had no clue and was picking somewhere randomly. Chester?
  13. No I dont think so It seems more those that are bothered by what others wear and those who aren't. Mostly people said they do follow the dress code - the actual dress code, not other cruiser's code - but this then seems to divide into those who do so but live and let live and those who want to be the fashion police, like OP, and tell others what to wear.
  14. yes of course one follows customs of a place one visits and of course that varies. My original point was simply saying the country you consider sophisticated (before you said where it was) was certainly not going to be Australia - since shorts for everyone are extremely commonplace here.
  15. background looks an English thatched cottage. # picks random place in England.... Dorset?
  16. I hope you like living in Japan. I have never been there. But I like living in Australia where men (and women and children) wearing shorts is extremely commonplace. I make no claims to being sophisticated though.
  17. Agreed, K32682 -was thinking exactly same thing and you beat me to saying it. Not the topic or thread itself but the snobby condescending comments it was opened with.
  18. lots of condescending generalisations in OP - but just on this one - No, whatever is suitable for women to wear is ok for men to wear I am a woman and I don't get pedicures or paint my nails. and I can't imagine being so bothered by other people's toe nails,.(or their legs for that matter) especially when you cant even see them sitting at a table.
  19. It wouldnt be Australia, that's for sure. We have a casual attitude to dress here thankfully and shorts at dinner in restaraunts (on land) are quite common and they were on our river cruise in Europe too.
