  1. For our upcoming 42 day cruise on the Rotterdam (doing a B2B collector cruise) we have 2 booking numbers and our TA has linked the two bookings. ---- So here are my question(s) ( Question1) If I purchase the internet now online before boarding I get the premium plan cheaper than if I wait until boarding - so if I purchase it now will I get the $30 discount for being a 5 Star Mariner reimbursed as OBC when I get on board? (Question #2) If I purchase the premium internet now will I have if for the entire 42 days or will I need to purchase it again for the second 21 days? When I had the same situation back in Feb/Mar 2022 on the Nieuw Statendam and did the purchase when on board I got the $30 discount and the service was for all 42 days.
  2. Please don't give them that idea - we like the smaller ships.
  3. Would HMC qualify as a distant foreign port?
  4. I will find out soon - boarding the Rotterdam Jan 14 for 42 days😁
  5. It was true through Dec 3 in the MDR on the NA.
  6. Yes - my wife and I both filled out the HAL survey for both booking numbers. We did not do any HAL excursions since we waitlisted for one and the other was cancelled by HAL
  7. We did 4 weeks on the NA in Nov under 2 booking numbers and have not received any welcome back offer. Also did 6 weeks on the NS in Feb/Mar 2022 under 2 booking numbers and again no welcome back offers. I guess since we are 5 star with almost 800 days they figure we don't need an incentive to book.
  8. I will be following you journey. We met you on the NS in the Caribbean in Feb/Mar 2022
  9. One time we were doing the self debark. They had us wait in BBKing and called us by group number to leave. They called our number and as I get up I see a woman hauling my roller duffle off down the hall. It is a somewhat unique bag with a neon yellow strap. She had no idea she had the wrong bag. Some people are just space cadets.
  10. I FAX mine in with a cover letter asking for an email confirming credit is applied and I normally get it within 24 hours.
  11. We were on the NA for 4 weeks in Nov and had no issues with getting our free 5 star meals in the Pinnacle and Tamarind.
  12. Navigator App will update with dressy nights after you board the ship.
  13. I have used the Let us know on the app and have gotten replies via phone within 24 hours.
  14. We had the same on the NA in Nov. and there were also women in shorts and tank tops.
  15. We are booked for one of the Partial Panama cruises in Jan 2024
  16. We just did the turn around in Port Everglades 3 weeks in a row in November. All of the guests staying on are call "in transit". You will get a letter a couple days before turnaround for a time and location where to meet (usually BBKing or Main stage depending on number of guests). After all the guests that are not staying on the ship get off then you will be led to the terminal were you will go through the CBP check. (On one of our turn arounds in November there was one family where a woman was so drunk that she could hardly walk and they decided they would take their time getting off which delayed the in transit screening for at least 45 minutes). For our turnarounds the CBP folks used the facial recognition system that was scanned when you first boarded but you need to bring your passport in case the system does not work. After all the in transit people are scanned then you can re-board the ship. Total time can be anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes depending on how the guests follow the directions given by the ship.
  17. This is a quote from the American Speech - Language - Hearing Association. Sound-level meters measure noise levels. We record noise levels in decibels, or dBA. The higher the noise level, the louder the noise. You can listen to sounds at 70 dBA or lower for as long as you want. Sounds at 85 dBA can lead to hearing loss if you listen to them for more than 8 hours at a time. Sounds over 85 dBa can damage your hearing faster. The safe listening time is cut in half for every 3-dB rise in noise levels over 85 dBA. For example, you can listen to sounds at 85 dBA for up to 8 hours. If the sound goes up to 88 dBA, it is safe to listen to those same sounds for 4 hours. And if the sound goes up to 91 dBA, your safe listening time is down to 2 hours. Based on this at levels of 100dba your hearing will me damaged after 15 minutes of exposure.
  18. The Rotterdam VII is the newest HAL ship and is the 3rd Pinnacle class ship along with the Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam. Here is a link with all the information from HAL. https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/cruise-ships/ms-rotterdam/0.html
  19. Seasick - keep the ship in good shape - we will be boarding 14 January for 42 days.
  20. The main stage is used. We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam for the month of November 2022. During a 7 day period they had the Step One Dance Team do at least 2 shows and one week 4 shows and there are shows at 7 and 9 pm. The also had the BBC movies with live music being played and sometimes a movie. We got to see the new Top Gun movie one night. During the sea days there were normally 2 EXC presentations and a talk about the upcoming ports. Agree that on port days the only time the main stage is used is in the evening.
  21. We did put that in our survey from our Nov NA cruise that they need to make the EXC talks available on demand in the Cabins.
  22. If we pre-purchase the premium do we get the $30 internet 5 Star benefit taken off our account when we board the ship? Also, has anyone tried done a MS video conference when on board? We will be on the Rotterdam in Aruba in the evening when I have a video conference that I might need to participate in.
  23. Note the original posting was from 2015. Things are much different now.
  24. Humanity is my favorite of the 4 shows they do. I have seen it 5 times on 2 different ships and looking forward to seeing it again several times on the Rotterdam in January.
  25. We were on the NA for the month of Nov and they had piano playing in the Ocean bar from 4 to 6 every day.
