Reporting from on the Rotterdam January 14 through February 25
iflyrc5 replied to iflyrc5's topic in Holland America Line
The order of the ports is different for the Jan 14 cruise than for the Feb 4th. Feb 5th and 6th are sea day. For this cruise Jan 15 is HMC although it is 68 degrees and 20 mph winds so will probably not go ashore and tomorrow is a sea day. -
Reporting from on the Rotterdam January 14 through February 25

On the Pinnacle ships the LCS folks and the BB Kings folks share the venue. You can see from my Daily program postings the LCS has 3 sets in the late afternoon/early evening and then it converts to the BB King lounge for the late evening. If this changes over the next 6 weeks I will post something We ate in the Tamarind tonight so can not yet comment on the noise in the MDR yet but I agree on the Koningsdam the noise level was very high. It will be interesting to see if that has been corrected on the Rotterdam. -

We boarded the Rotterdam in FLL this morning and will be on through February 25. Sunny and 58 degrees with a strong wind out of the northwest. The ship is in great shape and everything is looking good so far. We arrived at terminal 19 at 1125 and were in our cabin 1145. No waiting at all just a little slow moving lines. We pulled lines right at scheduled departure at 3:00pm and were the first ship to leave Port Everglades today. We don't gamble and don't frequent the bars that often but I will try and answer any questions you may have about the ship. So far so good - we feel like we are back home and looking forward to 42 great days on a DAM ship.

Can you have both a first responders’ OBC and Shareholder OBC
iflyrc5 replied to Mary229's topic in Holland America Line
We have a B2B (7 day and 21 day) in October 2023 with each one having a separate booking number and a B2B (21 day and 21 day) in Jan/Feb 2024 with each one having a separate booking number and our TA got us the Teacher promotion for all 4 of the bookings. He did this in mid Dec 2022 just after we booked these cruises while on the NA during the Black Friday sales. -
Can OBC be used for crew appreciation gratuities?

No - those will be charged to your credit card on file for the cruise. -

We have the shareholder and teacher OBC so I am guessing that you can have both. We have it on our cruise starting Saturday and also cruises booked for Oct 2023 and Jan 2024 -
You will need to pack all of the loose stuff and items on the shelves in the closets but not the items on hangers. On turnaround day the room stewards will move you hanging items and the packed items. You will need to get your new ship cards from guest services. If this is in a US port you will need to go through the CBP check and the crew will move you stuff during that time. You will need to get you new ship card before getting off for the CBP check as you will need it to get back on the ship.

Did you check the Navigator App?
-
For our Nov 2022 cruise on the NA activities did not show up on the Navigator app until we boarded. For our Rotterdam cruise starting on Jan 14 activities started to show up around Jan 1 so maybe things are changing or it could be the difference in the ships.

I hope they add this to the Eurodam before our cruise in Oct 2023. -

All of the music venues are forward of midships so I don't think you will have issues from the music. -
We were on the NA for the month of Nov 2022 and had twice a day cabin service - no problem.
-
It did not show up until 7 days before boarding and I know it will change when we board.

Live From Rotterdam (Jan 4-14, 2023)

Charlene1985 - thanks for all the reporting. We are boarding on Jan 14. I am interested in the times of the evening shows on the World stage. Take care of the ship for us😁 -
It is under Experiences - then daily program. You pick the day and the events for the day show up. It typically does not show up until about a week before you board and then changes often until you get on the ship. That is why I was wondering what the current show times are - we were on the NA for 4 weeks in Nov 2022 and the shows were at 7pm and 9pm.
-
We were on the NA for the month of Nov 2022. There was no group in the Ocean Bar. They had someone play the piano for about 2 hours in the late afternoon/early evening and that didn't happen every night.

Fairhope504 - I see that you are on the Rotterdam. We are boarding Jan 14. The Navigator App for our cruise is showing the shows on the World Stage at 8pm and 10pm. That seems later than normal. Wondering what the times are for the World Stage shows currently. The app also shows that Cantare is performing - are they on your cruise? Thanks.

Sounds like Key West and Bora Bora - they don't want a mass of people invading their ports. I am sure the businesses are not liking this. Maybe they will be able to swap with one of the other ABC islands. Curacao has 3 piers and Aruba has 3 piers that can handle the Rotterdam.
-
There are 2 piers at Bonaire and we were on the NS in Feb/Mar in Bonaire and we fit so HAL must have gotten the draw of the smaller pier. We are on the Rotterdam Jan 14 - Feb 25 and are doing the southern Caribbean twice. One is scheduled for Bonaire and on the other it is stopping in Jamaica instead.
