  1. Did some more google/cruise critic searching and found my answer - it looks like it is a full ship charter for the Malt Shop cruise.
  2. We are boarding the Nieuw Amsterdam on Nov 6 in FLL. I see that it is scheduled for a 5 day cruise ending in FLL on Oct 30. But does not show any cruise between Oct 30 and Nov 6. Does it have a drydock scheduled during that period or is it a charter going on? Any ideas?
  3. We used our laptop on the kitchen counter. Just moved the angle of the screen as needed. We did ours at 1205am as we had an early morning flight and want to make sure we were negative before flying out. Worked perfectly. Will use it again if we still need to test for our Nov Caribbean cruise.
  4. The hours for the pools are reduced on turn around days in FLL.
  5. We like the MDR - much less crowded than the Lido. Quiet and calm and a great way to start the cruise.
  6. The late Lido buffet is from 1030pm to 1130pm and varies every night. Fewer items and normally different than the Lido dinner offerings.
  7. We were under the BB King on the Zuiderdam several years ago and had no issues. Would take that cabin again.
  8. From what my TA told me and he confirmed with HAL that the FCC from cancelling will not be available to use for 4 to 6 weeks so it would not be available to rebook immediately. I cancelled a cruise 2 weeks ago and the FCC from my deposit is not showing on my account.

  10. Looking for someone that has been on the Nieuw Amsterdam recently. We have been on most of the HAL ships but not this ship. Wanting to know if the ocean view cabins on the main deck have one of the small "phone booth size" showers or do they have tub with a shower or have they been updated to the walk-in full size shower with the glass door like some of the other ships. Also, has it been updated with the interactive TV system or the old TVs with the DVD? Thanks for any current information.
  11. We had a similar issue on the HAL Nieuw Statendam in March where the ship had to return to Aruba for a medical evac and we were late getting back to FLL. We ended up having to stay overnight in FLL. Our insurance was through Generali Global Assistance and we did not have to show any proof of the delay. The paid for our hotel bill with no problem. We did not have any cost for the flight change as we were flying Southwest.
