  1. @3rdGenCunarder Thank YOU! I’m waiting for DH to finish the sports section of the paper then we’ll start through this wonderful list.
  2. To all who have posted, many thanks. We can’t decide which of the two to try and after reading post #169 by @Mahogany I think I’ve decided I won’t decide which of the two, but to just do both. It’s like deciding where to go for dinner: Italian, French, Sushi. For that night I have to choose, but all an option for the future and all are quality.
  3. As I said, I haven’t cruised O yet. And I dearly hope, and would expect, O to better than Cunard Brittania. I have only sailed Queens Grill, and it has always been exceptional, except the scrambled eggs, which just seems to be the way they are made in Britain.
  4. I love that CC has people who can tell us the reality of taking wine on board with Cunard. I am about to board an RCI ship and from what I’ve read their 1 bottle of wine rule is strictly enforced. I’m glad people ask and people are here to answer. I also hope that if the reality were to change we would send up flares to everyone because I, for one, would need it. @BigMac1953 So glad you got your 6 bottles of bubbly on board! This was our home this afternoon..Shramsberg.
  5. @rmsEtruria The Q4 has better shelving and drawers. The Q5 has more hanging. We also do not travel light. Our hanging in Q4 was reduced because our Tumi luggage doesn’t fit beneath the bed. I stack it in the corner of the hanging section of the closet which eliminates probably 14 to 16 inches of hanging space. I loved the additional open shelves and we didn’t even begin to use all of the drawers. I’ll check my video and post if appropriate.
  6. Sunset Boulevard and Norma Desmond. Great play on Broadway we saw around 1995 with Glenn Close as Norma.
  7. @Lionesss Was the mountain out for you? For others reading this, the air quality has improved a little bit. We live just above Pier 91 where you will board the ship on Monday. There is now a wind from the north blowing out the smoke. This is normal at this time of day as the wind comes down the sound through Interbay. On Monday when we leave and start sailing up through the sound we will probably be heading into the wind.
  8. I smirked and took great joy in choosing as least important receiving a pin of recognition. I wonder how many of our dance enthusiasts received the survey. In the question asking “what would make a Cunard cruise brilliant?” I thought about those who would say they wanted more dance hosts. I haven’t seen any of them posting on this thread.
  9. We have been on Cunard, QM2 in Queens Grill. The food has been really good.
  10. @Lionesss Oh My! You earned those bonus miles! I am confident you will make it to Seattle. But, there is a lot of smoke and I don’t know if you’ll be able to see the mountain. The smoke has increased as the day as progressed. At 8:45am we left our house to go to the market (Pike to those of you from out of town) and the mountain wasn’t out (that’s Seattle speak for you can’t see Mt. Rainier). Enjoy your time in Seattle.
  11. Take both to make sure you have enough. After plugging in the coffee maker, the water kettle, the light on the desk, the hair blower…I just think you can never have too many.
  12. @roscoe39 Yeah, I knew when I posted my opinion of the gap that it would open up a discussion. But, discussion is a good thing if kept polite. Let’s see if we can do it and not have @Host Hattie close us down!
  13. Got it and and filled it out with no problems. As Gold I had to answer I was aware of and item but hadn’t used it, so their data will have a problem. Took way more than 15 minutes! When it asked for ideas from other brands I pointed out the free 20th cruise from Oceania. I also said I think there is too big a gap between Gold and Platinum.
  14. @Linkster248 Can you tell me more? What did you prepare?
  15. We’re a month away from our first Oceania, Regatta, cruise. We booked it for: 1) the food, 2) no international flight, 3) small ship. I appreciate the reminder for realistic expectations from @Sthrngary. We’ve had exceptional food on our last 2 cruises on another line and I keep telling myself it will be hard for Oceania to be as good. I’ve been following this forum for many months and still have expectations that are probably too high, or perhaps they are just really hopeful. I’m going with credit card in hand to visit the future cruise desk. I appreciate that most of the time this forum is very civil. I just block those who aren’t because I don’t need snarky! Have a great cruise and I look forward to reading your pluses and minuses.
  16. @TouchstoneFeste I remember we were literally walking out the door and I grabbed my camera and turned on the video with DH saying, “Why are you doing that? Is this for your cruise thing?” My reply was, “people always want to know about the bathrooms and the closets.” Which, the closet in Q4 doesn’t have as much hanging space as a Q5.
  17. @fourmile.ranch Thanks for the QM tour information. I guess I’ve seen the paranormal on YouTube and decided it wasn’t for me. Was there a place on QM to leave luggage? We embark at San Pedro around 1:00 - 2:00. Staying in Marina del Ray. In any case, thanks for the information and endorsement of the tour. Have Fun!
  18. @Husky1987 I am hoping a 2:00 check-in will mean the majority of people are already on-board. The hair is done @Lionesss and I’m blond and red streaks! DH says it will take some time to get used to and the grandsons won’t recognize me. @Husky1987 did you graduate in 1987? DH has link to U-Dub but I can’t post it here. This is my first RCI cruise, so I don’t know how large the casino is. I hope we meet up!
  19. @Lionesss Sue, you posted that 4 hours ago and I thought you were already on the way! With purple luggage you will have no problem finding the at SeaTac!
  20. @Lionesss Purple back pack! 9:00pm casino. We don’t check-in until 2:00 due to DH work schedule and dropping us at the terminal. I have hair appointment today so I my hair may be red or a combination of red and grey and blond! Glasses. I’ll be with a 10 year old, so I’ll probably not make it to the casino on Monday, but I’ll for sure be there at other times. I am Susan.
  21. @Lionesss I hope your journey is calm and relaxing. First Class is the way to go! It is smoky haze this morning in Seattle but I think you’ll still have a good view of Mt. Rainier as you fly in. Enjoy your stay and perhaps we’ll meet on-board.
  22. I am in the same situation and here is how I’ve handled it. @Mum2Mercury is absolutely correct that I shouldn’t have to have my signature notarized. This is RCI being dense. I had my daughter sign and notarize one copy. I took that copy with another copy to my notary and he notarized my signature. Both notaries were at a loss as to why the form is made the way it is. There isn’t even room for two notaries on the form! I sail on Monday and will see if we are allowed boarding or not. Good luck to all!
  23. @ronpes Interesting coincidence this morning; as I was reading your post the 5 year old was playing in a train sticker book that included The Royal Scotsman Train. So, I was looking at the tours on-line and trying to figure out how to do one of the whiskey tasting tours. The cost is as much as a TA in QG!
