  1. Our large Tumi’s will not fit under the bed, so we stack in the corner of the walk in closet. Also remember there is Luggage Forward.
  2. @Victoria2 Sorry to hear the party was a flop. Thanks for letting everyone know. Alas, Sashenka didn’t arrive in time for the beach trip, but it was here last night and I could barely put it down. China also arrived and it was difficult to decide which to read first. Some problems are good problems. 🙂 I’ll save it for the September cruise.
  3. Our notification arrived a couple of hours ago.
  4. A recent acquisition from QM2 arrived today. If anybody sees another one numbered 6/495 I want to know!
  5. @NE John When DH and I cruise Alaska we are like @fourmile.ranch, we seldom get off the ship. The exception was a day long out of Skagway where we booked a tour that went up into Canada to the Yukon. I loved the landscape. I also love cruising past all of the beautiful trees and islands.
  6. @fourmile.ranch Thanks for the post about Juneau. How crowded does it feel? Is it busy or crazy? Your post inspired me to check how ships will be in Juneau when we’re there in August. There will be 6! Approximately 12,000 people. That’s crazy. Are you enjoying Alaska?
  7. We’ve used them twice and will use them again in September. Both times the bags arrived back home in about a week. We are done with hauling formal wear through airports. We send the 50LB limit but send it much lower so we have room for Cunard teddies and books for the return.
  8. There are places to avoid in Seattle, including DT, but few of them are in the tourist sections of town. I don’t want to get specific of where to avoid for fear of setting off a barrage of comments.
  9. I would rent a car, get a good map, use this thread to help you decide where to go and go for it. If you rent a car from downtown, depending upon the day of the week and which route you take, you’re looking at 2 to 2 1/2 up to the entrance to the park. I would head to Tipsoo Lake. Walk around it and enjoy the incredible view of Mt. Rainier. Take a picnic and camera with you. Bathrooms are at the lake. You mentioned going in September— that is also the time of the Washington State Fair in Puyallup, so check for traffic on HWY 167.
  10. Fruit bowl and ice bucket were in our suite upon arrival in July on QM2.
  11. Interesting @Victoria2. The rumor mill has been wrong before. Guess we’ll wait and see.
  12. @RJChatsworth rumor on another thread is that Osman is moving to Queen Anne. Can you describe the new Maitre ‘D? A large blond man or a tall thin man? I suspected one or the other would be replacing Osman. We’ve wondered about seating assignments in the past. We’ve been window (Q4) and 2nd from window (Q5) both times middle of the restaurant. Both nice tables. We didn’t ever notice Osman ignoring tables, but at lunch always inquiring if he could prepare something special.
  13. It was so fun to hear about the charities people were serving with their craft. Lots of hospital blankets and cuddlies.
  14. It sounds like the only real question is regarding the RCI letter versus our own. Thanks for the update @Ferry_Watcher and I hope you’ll keep us updated.
  15. @Ferry_Watcher I’m wondering if you learned anything new at your meeting on Friday that would add to our discussion.
  16. On a recent QM2 cruise a group of ladies who had been on a westbound TA had started meeting in the Chart Room enjoying their favorite hobby. But, the size of the group became large and chairs had to be moved, remember how big and heavy those things are? People were trying to read, and the lively conversation seemed to interfere with their solitude. So the group took it into their own hands and requested a change in venue to the Corinthia Lounge. A bright sunny place that could be reconfigured with afternoon tea treats nearby. Many people passed us by and commented they didn’t know what to expect from the title in the daily program, and many said, “if I had only known.” So, the group grew. We decided we would meet daily, unless off the ship. As I said goodbye on the last day we discussed how to keep in touch and spread the word that people with a craft should bring it along and enjoy visiting with others of a like mind. Have you joined the hobby group on a previous voyage? Is there a time or place you would suggest to Cunard? Wouldn’t it be amazing if there was a continuous fiber around and around the world as we passed the gatherings on to new crafters as they boarded?
  17. 42 days is too long for me. I would miss my sewing machine and flowers. We’re scheduled for a 19 day on QM2, 2 TA’s with a 5 day Rotterdam/Bruges. We’ll see how we do. Also, not sure I want to go to where local politics are contentious.
  18. Do we need a new thread? Could it be pinned @Host Hattie? Something about Books to Read At Sea?
  19. @exlondoner I have tried the same principle and it didn’t work here either. He says there are lots of books that can go, but he seems to never have time to identify which of the thousands I can take to charity.
  20. Maybe you two can help me. We’re going to Rotterdam and Bruges December, 2025. I need a good book(s) about the history similar to what we’ve been discussing.
  21. @rafinmd I sure hope this works out for you. Don’t let them tell you “no.”
  22. We have a problem in our house…
  23. Ordered! It will arrive today so I can take it to the beach tomorrow.
  24. @Victoria2 You beat me to it! I was just about to respond and ask if it is a trilogy!
