  1. This was the same on Onward a couple of weeks ago - 4 reds, 4 whites (all Azamara branded) a rose and a sparkling
  2. Cabin Number: 7027 Ship: Onward Month/Year sailed: January 2023 Would you choose this room again: I didn't choose this room but was allocated it as part of a guarantee booking. The room is interconnecting with 7025 and I had some trepidation about noise coming from the shared door. In the event we heard nothing from that side - we heard more from the other side who felt the need to have their TV playing constantly, but this was only a faint sound anyway. I wouldn't choose again as we may have got lucky with quiet neighbours and there is potential for noise with louder guests. However, I wouldn't be too alarmed to be allocated an interconnecting room based on this experience Is noise an issue: No Balcony size: Normal Any other comments: This is a good location, close to elevators and just a few floors above the disembarkation area and a few floors down from the living room. For those who need to use elevators this end of the ship is better as the busier elevators are at the back.
  3. It was a dockside event with fire-eaters, stiltwalkers and then a calypso band on a stage singing Caribbean songs with an emphasis on Harry Belafonte. Rum punches served on arrival. It was good but not great. At least it didn't involve hundreds of people being bussed to a different venue
  4. We just returned from Onward and had a thoroughly enjoyable cruise - our 6th on Azamara. However I would hesitate to list my likes and dislikes as they may not be the same as yours - or anyone else's. Certainly some of the issues which others have complained about are of little consequence to us, but we're pretty relaxed. We raised a few issues with GR and found one of them to be less than efficient but wouldn't describe him as pitiful. There are also individual factors which may affect a cruise eg cabin type and location, mix of people onboard and the 2 key nights - white party and Azamazing evening. The heavens opened just as people were lining up for food at white night and everyone moved indoors - killing the vibe. Our Azamazing evening was in St Maarten, yours would be elsewhere. Happy to answer individual questions but my likes/dislikes may not chime with yours.
  5. When did this new rule come in to place? I have always upgraded my classic package - since I like to try the upgraded cocktails - whilst my husband is happy to stick with his classic package. If it now has to be both of us it will be neither so they lose out on a sale
  6. Excuse me jumping in to ask a different question, but is it still possible to upgrade part way through a cruise. I realise Elite discount won't apply in this case.
  7. Just finished Ann. It was wonderful and really fun table mates
  8. Actually the Indian Buffet is tonight - penultimate night. We specifically didn't want to do Chef's Table tonight because we love the Indian buffet but been forced into it now as our only option. To be fair it's the Stateside menu which was our preferred option until we saw it clashed with the Indian buffet
  9. And just another tip. Don't book the Chef's Table for the last night of the cruise. We were due to eat there tomorrow - our last night - and it's been cancelled 😞
  10. It's back to capsules again. Just did a wash there. Also one of the washing machines was being fixed by an engineer, maybe the one where clothes were coming out too wet. I've used 2 different machines and not had that problem
  11. Included spirits and cocktails currently on Onward
  12. Definitely not an iPhone issue I'm on Onward now and the USB port doesn't work with my Android. Not a problem tho as I was pleased to see a UK power point next to the bed so I plug my phone in there On another note thank you so much aliaschief for all your positive and informative posts from Onward. After all the negativity pre Christmas you really made us look forward to our cruise
  13. Well I don't know what time they started but guess it wasn't much earlier than 2pm. They were on group 8 at 2.10 but the groups moved quickly
  14. Just to add to this discussion since we boarded Onward yesterday. We were given a boarding time of 2.30 when we checked in online but our TA had prebooked a taxi from our hotel at 11.15. We decided to contact the taxi company and put back our pick up time as preferred to sit by the pool at our hotel rather than sit in a terminal building. We arrived at the port at 2pm and checked in quickly - no line - and were given group number 18. When we reached the waiting area at 2.10 they were boarding group 8. We eventually boarded after around 40 minutes. Your given board time at online check in is really irrelevant when there are hundreds of people ahead of you and they give out cards on a first come first served basis. So you have to decide on balance whether to arrive early and sit in a waiting area for hours and board in one of the first groups or arrive at your allotted time but board later due to the many who arrived earlier rhan their allotted time but were given an earlier boarding number
  15. Yes on Jewel. We were on from the 9th September for 10 nights. We could use our seapass cards to get coffees in the Windjammer or coffee shop - better coffee to be fair
  16. That was broken when we were on the first week in September. Surely they should have 'the parts' by now 🙄
  17. Generally the first ship in gets to dock and later ones are tendered. You often won't know until the night before or even the day of which one it us. There are pros and cons to this since the dock is a bus ride or a long walk from the town whereas tenders drop you right in town. You should also be aware that sometimes due to winds tenders are unable to make it. We missed a call there once because of this and headed off to overnight in Athens, which the crew loved
  18. Interested to read this. We sailed on Jewel for 10 days in September and found the MDR food better than on many of our recent RC cruises - and like you we have sailed on all classes. We usually always book a speciality dining package but used our D+ BOGOs on the first two nights in Chops and Giovannis and were so disappointed we decided not to bother with the package and chance the dining room and felt the food and menu choices were a cut above our previous cruises. Having said that and seeing your previous post on this (#342) we wouldn't opt for your preferences so maybe it was all about what food you chose
  19. Ah - would have been useful if you said that first. No intention of bidding so won't find out anyway
  20. Not strictly true. We haven't received a single email - less than 2 months from our cruise. We can however bid on an upgrade using a link provided here before, despite having a Guarantee cabin https://www.azamara.co.uk/azamara-upgrade-programme
  21. Unless things have changed in recent years all tours end in Fira necessitating a trip back down either by cable car, foot or donkey. The Athinios port only took tenders one way - from the ship and not back. Now it may be that things have changed or that private operators can offer an alternative. You may get better answers if you post this on the relevant ports if call board as there will be input from not just RC contributors https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/forum/463-greece-ports/
  22. We were on Jewel in Europe and had it in September. Cannot believe all the fuss over it and the greed of some people ordering multiple portions
  23. And we were on Jewel in September and they had it on the second formal night
